where water is piped down from a catchment behind the Topside cabin

This part from the description tells me that late afternoon is probably the best time to bath, based on the sun heating the water in that catchment all day long, and not yet being so low in the sky that it doesn't help much. I've done summers where the shower water is heated by the sun, and a catchment tells me exactly that.

It also means that sailors likely protect that catchment with their lives, as it seems to be the main reserve of fresh water....and in a battle, bodies falling into it would probably destroy that water. I'm just glad no one's training exercise has included a dip in it.

It is, in fact, two small tubs. No soaking in this here boat, sorry. Also, water is only solar heated, though you could *try* to get cook to boil a pot or two for you if you catch her at the right time (IE, right after making meals before the fire goes out). Summoning will also heat it.

The catchment is in fact used for much of the fresh water on the ship but by no means is it the only supply. There is ample drinking water stashed in barrels in the hold, just in case of contamination/damage to the catchment.

So, shugenja can summon with a raise to take a warm bath right then and there, but they summon with two raises to add to the big pot?

No, they summon with a raise to make the water that's already there warm.

So . . . we can summon with 3 raises to summon enough fresh water and make it warm?

And it says under the summon spell about changing temp/form etc with a raise. Steam being the example, but that would be rather an extreme bath.

Sarcasm...

I mean, have you read half the words coming out of this guy's mouth? It's pretty clear that this is the first time in his life he's gone without two baths per day.

And he's horrified.

You might want to rethink that and stand upwind of him. Unless your plan is to be knocked immediately unconscious by the sudden stench wave.

Musasha is mostly washing the sweat and body oder away with his wash. He uses the salt water just to dampen and rinse the soap off. He doesn't expect to get clean, just doesn't want to smell like death. Also, yes, shaving with salt water would hurt. It's still required if you are hairy, and don't want to waste fresh water with such a superfluous thing.

Musasha is saving all his bathing rations for after big battles and (if it happens) to wash off the ichor of sea monsters he kills.

You know I've been kinda curious about this for the past couple days and figure here is the best place to ask.... when exactly does it get dark here? I was imaging somewhere around 7-8 aka mid evening but I wasn't really certain. Course it's not really a big deal more of a casual curiosity..

Welp. The difficulty lies in the fact that each time slot covers 2 hours. It would be fair to say early evening is when it gets dark since it is technically Spring. :3

Edit: Also, mid-evening is more 8-10pm
