Whistle While You Work [Day 1, Mid-Afternoon]

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko grins a bit. "Good, cause ye'd be so disappointed in yer failure that yer face'd get redder than ye tried te get mine te be." Himiko continues her mopping enthusiastically, returning to whistling one of those terrible crab drinking songs.

[Kakita Sugita]

That sets him chuckling. "A failure in itself, Yasuki-san."

"I'm Kakita Sugita, by the by. Let me know if you want to learn some real sailor's songs." He says absently as he goes back to studying ropes. Seemed like the thing to do.

[Yasuki Himiko]

"It'd be good te know the real ones, sure," she smirked. "Yasuki Himiko. Student of Kobo Ichi-kai."

[Kakita Sugita]

As if that was a request, Sugita starts on a song. It's the same tune that has been in his head for more than a day.

"Pull the anchor and raise the sail
Knock the oarsmen on their tail
There's sailin' to be done
Before the settin' of the sun
It's a sailor's life for me!

Yo-ho fiddle-dee-dee..." Etc.

His singing is as terrible as Himiko's whistling.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko listens to the words, and at the very least tries to whistle along. All in all, it just becomes a giant, neverending circle of bad.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

The Moshi blinked at the Kakita. She absolutely loved being on a ship. But as the two were conversing on their own now, she kept to herself and moved a little further away from that situation.

Perhaps moving toward the Bayushi would be wise. "Bayushi-san." She inclined her head.

"Moshi-san" he says with an acknowledgement of her presence, though his attention is drawn to the musically inept performances of the Crab and Crane.

"That is just awful." he comments to no one in particular, though his voice is raised. "If a song reflects what is in your heart, I hesitate to say what that reflection looks like."

He turns his attention back to the Mantis.

"Do you sing, Moshi-san?" he asks.

[Asahina Narumi]

The Asahina, for her part, just smiles at the terrible singing. One of those indulging smiles that a parent might give to a child who was learning to sing. She takes a few drags of strawberry and feels the breeze on her face.

[Moshi Chihiroko]

"Moshi-san" he says with an acknowledgement of her presence, though his attention is drawn to the musically inept performances of the Crab and Crane.

He turns his attention back to the Mantis.

"Do you sing, Moshi-san?" he asks.

She couldn't help but chuckle at his comment and then half shrugged. "I do on occasion though I'm no professional. What about yourself?"

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

"I would say the same about myself, Moshi-san" Nobuyoshi replies. "Though I would add that when people object to my singing, it's the lyrics they take issue with, not the presentation."

Nobuyoshi shakes his head looking back over at the non-musical duo.

"If only others were so self-aware." he comments.

[Moshi Chihiroko]

She smiled gently and inclined her head. "Well, it is an honor, Bayushi-san. I am Moshi Chihiroko, less than perfect at singing and not easily offended by song lyrics."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

"Bayushi Nobuyoshi" he replies, returning the inclination of the head and the introduction. Perhaps not the smile, but masks make facial expressions so difficult to read. His voice drops back down to it's normal quiet and flat tone. "Surely there is something you're better known for that is not music related, Moshi-san." he states.

[Moshi Chihiroko]

She thought for a moment. Then shook her head. "Can't really say I'm known for much of anything except a Moshi who was born on a ship and will die a Moshi on a ship should the Fortunes allow it." This, too, made her smile.

[Shiba Naomi]

Naomi was around, of course. Keeping an eye on things, having just checked ropes and riggings, making sure that everything was in order... you know, stuff that was a part of the job.

Noticing the others mingling together, she gives a bow, but doesn't move to interfere with the conversation. Yet.
Though picking up the "pirate-song", she can't help but to smile.

[Kakita Sugita]

Sugita makes it a point to work toward the others while singing. Pretty much done with that job anyway.

"Hello there," he says, taking a break from singing when next to the Shiba.

[Shiba Naomi]

"Good afternoon, Kakita-san," she replied with her usual friendly demeanor. Being outside of the bad place had considerably lightened her mood today.

[Kakita Sugita]

"Did ya get to the rigging over there yet? I wasn't payin' much attention." Sugita points back the way Naomi came from.

[Shiba Naomi]

She gave a nod. "Everything seemed to be in order, Kakita-san. I just finished the round to check on it."

"And the singing is keeping morale up?" she couldn't help herself to ask about it.

[Kakita Sugita]

Heh. "I'm enjoying it," he answers like that is all that matters.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Once HImiko has finished whistling, she looks over to Naomi with a smirk. "Ah, Shiba-san. I certainly think th' singin's been fun, too."

[Shiba Naomi]

She gave Himiko a nod and her smile widened into a grin.
"Kakita-san picked up the song on a previous trip? It's not one I've heard before."
