. . . . . . . . . . . sheesh. I see my reputation preceeds me there.

As the only true brothers I can think of in Elfquest are Wing and Mender, hardly suitable for kittens, I picked out the soul brothers . . . no other ideas about that pairing came to mind this time.

You'd probably be surprised to know my fave elf is Clearbrook in her Siege of Blue Mountain psycho mode. Although I, of course, have a soft spot for Dart.

omg Clearbrook is so awesome after the death of One-Eye, when they begin the Siege at Bluemountain arc. She's just so badass then.

Which I think goes to show you that there are alternatives to him being executed. If the samurai pushes for his death its likely that that's what's going to happen. But there's a reason that Compassion in terms of the Code of Bushido encompasses how one treats a peasant.

Samurai aren't robots. They don't all, always, respond to the same action the same way. Some value human (half human or otherwise) life more while to others a peasant is just a farming implement. For some of them 'that peasant slighted me' doesn't immediately jump to 'I must kill them'. After all, peasant doshin are expected to subdue drunken samurai. Is this technically 'right' in a strict, very literal interpretation of the Celestial Order? Nope. But it happens all the same and most of the time, no one bats an eyelash.

You're right Rinzuki, don't get me wrong. But just saying that that's how the setting works really oversimplifies things.
