[Moon 13, Evening, Crow's Nest, Open] Terror on the Wind

[Rixy]

The eta, who never dared look up at Choukichi directly, did his job with what at least looked like practiced efficiency. A few times, he whispered to the girl who would get things for him...water, a mirror, and a small vial. He checked the Crane's breathing with the mirror, tested his pulses, and then uncorked the bottle so that the incredibly potent vapors captured inside could drag the Crane back from unconsciousness if it wasn't the spirits holding him under.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi coughed and sputtered. He was conscious, certainly, but the way his eyes were moving suggested that he wasn't seeing quite what everyone else was.

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

Choukichi looks down at Fuichi and frowns.

"We best get him below decks and get another one of the priests to take a look at him. Can one of you go find one?"

He glances at the heimin and the eta then settles on the wounded woman.

"She doing alright?"

[Rixy]

The vial was corked again and the eta immediately backed off, head bowed and on his knees in case he'd somehow accidentally given offense.

The girl, who had started to unbind the knots even as the two men descended, nodded and got to her feet at once. "I can bring Isawa-gunso, since the other healers haven't been officially assigned, unless you think he'd rather one of his own to help..?"

The younger of the two male sailors looked at the wounded woman and grimaced. "She ain't dead...that's somethin', after a thing falls from that high."

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

"Get the gunso, good help is more important than keeping him happy. Have him meet us down below, we'll get him off the deck and outa the way, best bring her down too, let her rest. What hit her anyway?"

While he talks, Choukichi lifts Fuichi and puts an arm under his shoulders, hoping he is coherent enough to at least stand.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi slumps against the Yoritomo, but manages to support a fair portion of his (rather insignificant) weight. "All our fault," he mutters, "but one thousand years is long enough..."

[Rixy]

The girl darted off for help at once while the young ashigaru said, in that all-too-pleasant tone, "Why, he happened. Dropped sommut from the nest, a bit of wood. A big one."

He pointed.

"Left it o'er there in case there's an ill luck on it now."

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

Choukichi looks at Fuichi and frowns again, making yet another warding gesture with his free hand.

"Good thinking, i've got a few charms for dealing with an item like that. I'm gonna bring him down below now, if the crew on deck can manage without you for a bit longer, bring her down as well. Otherwise just get her to take a seat and i'll come her get her as soon as I get him down below."

He then heads for the hold, dragging Fuichi along.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi follows obediently. If one thing can be said about monastery life, it is that it makes one ready to accept orders at any time.

[Volsung]

The two samurai just miss getting bowled over by an agitated Dageki who takes a quick look around before seeing his unconscious sister. "Sons a' bitches. Who the fuck did this?" He stalked over to his sister. "What the fuck happened?"

"Umm. Daidoji-sama dropped somethin' while he was up in the Nest. Bonked her right'n the head. Dageki-sama."

The man turned his glare on the man who had spoken. "And where's this fuckin' Daidoji now?"

The man took a step or two back. "Well, he... passed out... kinda. Spooks took him down below."

Dageki turned back to the hold, now realizing he'd just missed the man who'd assaulted his sister. "Dammit. Get a medic up here. Now! Every second I wait is another lash for each one of you lazy good fer nothin's!"

The fury of the Ashigaru commander was more than enough to cause a flurry of movement as some went to go hurry up the medics while others made to get Touhi more comfortable. Dageki for his part stalked over to the ill fated chunk of wood and picked it up with one hand, glaring at it.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

It's a half-carved statue of Isora, surprisingly well executed. The placid face of the goddess regards him with a level eye.

[Isawa O-Washi]

Kugi had, of course, fetched O-washi...he was the only official medic until the roster went up. Now she trailed behind the big gunso, using his bulk as a shield from Dageki's ire even as she peered with concern at Touhi.

Kneeling beside the woman, he confirmed that the silent eta had done his usual fine job of binding up the bleeding. Gently testing the bones with his big hands, he confirmed that nothing was shattered, though there might be a small crack it'd heal easily enough. "She's going to have a headache like she's on the inside of a signal drum at full soundings but she'll recover in a few days."

[Volsung]

Dageki sneered then stuffed the statue into a bag as O-Washi came up, careful to keep it hidden. The man's eyes tried to peer through the Isawa at the carpenter behind him. But to no avail. Still, he hovered with worry evident in his eyes.

Once O-Washi had given his diagnosis, the Ashigaru sighed in relief.

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

When Dageki comes running by, Choukichi hops to the side with his barely conscious cargo then continues down into the ship to set the man in his berth. Once Fuichi is settled, Choukichi heads back up to the deck to see how things are going with the ashigaru and to let O-Washi know what happened to Fuichi.

[Isawa O-Washi]

Dageki got a raised brow from the Isawa for that reaction but no comment. Instead, O-washi asked,"Do you want me to carry her down now or do you want us to use the stretcher?"

The former would actually be more comfortable, more than likely, but one didn't go about manhandling injured baby sisters of annoyed weaponmasters, even if they were in theory your inferiors, when they were as mad as Dageki was just then.

As Choukichi came on deck, O-washi gave him a momentary glance. "Problems, Yoritomo-san?"

[Volsung]

Dageki paused, looking around for a moment as he decided. "Lets get her below decks as quick as we can, Isawa-sama." He turned to look at Spooks. "Ain't no charm against fallin' charms is there?" He asked with a bit of a snarl.

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

"Daidoji-san lost his mind up in the nest, freaking out and screaming and muttering giberish and stuff. Got him down and into his berth with the help of some of the sailors, but figured you might wanna take a look at him, hopefully he ain't too far lost."

While he talks, Choukichi motions to the ashigaru that had helped him and bows his head appreciatively. When Dageki snarls at him he just ignores it, certain that he isn't actually interested in hearing one of the three seperate charms he does know against just that.

[Isawa O-Washi]

Carefully, the Isawa scooped up the unconscious woman, cradling her to his chest as though she were a baby. "It isn't the first time the Sea's gotten to a shugenja, I'm sad to say. Let me get poor Touhi-san down to the Bay and then I'll check in on Daidoji-san."

Talking to Dageki as he walked, he said, "I'm going to give you the medicine to give her for pain, make sure you have one of the eta about though...this sort of blow means she's likely to be heaving up her lunch for a while and the meds won't help with that much. Get Cook to brew up some strong mint tea for her and some porridge, too. That's all she's to have through lunch tomorrow."

Then it was down into the hold they went, the Isawa careful to make the descent as smooth as he could. Once he'd settled the girl into one of the berths with her brother to watch her, he turned to Choukichi again. "Alright...where'd you stow him?"

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

"Stuck him in his berth, figured the girl he hurt might need to go to the sick bay, and thought it a bad idea to keep em both together, her fellows were pretty upset."

[Volsung]

Dageki nodded to O-Washi and kept with his sister. Remaining very careful with her even as he snarls and orders some of the other heimin about to keep her comfortable. The last Choukichi and O-Washi hear of him before the door shuts are numerous threats about dangling lolly-gaggers off the edge of the ship tomorrow.
