[Moon 13, Aft Deck, Evening] Strolling the Deck (Open)

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"And has this out of comforts journey earned you a new favourite phrase?" She asked soon after, there must be some amusement behind the question.

[Amaya]

"Amaya, Usagi-sama. Just one'f the ashigaru crew handlin the evenin watch. Wanted t'make sure ya had all ya needed," she said, bobbing her head as he said that and keeping her eyes peeled. What the hell was an Oosagee anyway?

[Usagi Zenko]

"Hmm, well met then Amaya-san. My thanks for your compassion." He turns then to Hoshi, after sparing a moment or three to glance back to the railings and insure the ocean wasn't creeping up on them. "Favorite phrase? Nothing so far...although, "Good morning" has been a relief the first time I've heard it each morning."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi gave the Hare a peculiar glance when he addressed Amaya as something close to an equal. Minor Clanners. She let out a small breath at the answer, more like in an amused annoyance. "That's very practical of you. I think you'll get through the night well enough to hear it a few times in the morning."

[Usagi Zenko]

He nods. "Hai, I hope so." He rubs his chin a little, turning his neck. "For certain, your words will be remembered when I remind myself of just that, before sleep."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"I hope sleep isn't an issue with your surroundings? You may very well sleep past morning and that will be an issue in many ways." Hoshi said softly, hinting to the strange behaviour relating to his shock of his sea around them earlier.

[Moshi Chihiroko]

At the arrival of a new samurai, another acknowledgement bow was given before Chihiroko carefully made her way elsewhere on the ship.

[Usagi Zenko]

He shakes his head lightly. "No, not too much of an issue." He looks about again for a moment. "But in that case, a 'Good Afternoon' will sound almost as lovely."

A sheepish grin, and he looks upwards a moment, before coming back down to earth. "So how do they steer this thing, anyways?"

[Amaya]

Amaya coughed, assuming the question was directed at her and jabbed her thumb up in the direction that the captain was standing at the till. "Rudder. Cap'n handles that end of th'bargain, though I couldn't tell ya how it works other than t'say that if somethin gets wedged down below someone's gotta clear it out so we can steer again," she said gruffly.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"The commander controls where his men go, except literally in this case." Hoshi murmured off in commentary. "-Ah...I don't think there's any chance we'll be seeing land unless he wishes it Usagi-san."

[Usagi Zenko]

"True..." He looks up to where the captain is supposedly. "Wonder if he needs anything? Isn't it pretty dark to steer a ship at night?"

"And hai, no land until he wishes it." He may be thinking the two things are linked.

[Amaya]

"Seems t'be doin ok on his own. If ya wanna check, y'can ask him, but I'd make sure he's not busy first. Cap'ns tend t'get a bit cranky if they're busy and someone buts in," she said, offering the closest to a shrug she was willing to do in front of the Bayushi.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Kami. He can barely walk across the deck in one piece, let's hope he doesn't get any ideas to suddenly talk to the captain... "I think the ship would benefit for a captain that wasn't so distracted or concerned at the moment. There's no need to prove the rumours wrong...Usagi-san." She said with a tone of seriousness.

[Usagi Zenko]

He nods at that, twice. "Ah..rumors?" he asks inquisitively.

"What rumors?"

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi tossed up a hand in a half-shrugging motion, "It's more likely to be fact than any I would think, our valiant Captain has sailed through this route with all ships in his command intact at over twenty tries." She drummed her fingers on the closet railing in a smooth motion with the same hand, perhaps to knock on wood for the Fortunes to not prove otherwise?

[Usagi Zenko]

"Twenty times?" he nods. "Twenty times is good. I suppose his crew would know when he's likely to need breaks or something to eat with that many trips." He offers a little warmer smile. "Can't go without Inari's blessings too long, else you risk her frowning."

He makes a particular gesture warding off such an idea.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"We're thankful now but in the future, we're likely to become his crew in the future Usagi-san. You may very well be sitting in the same cabin with him on the way back." Let's hope not but he'll get the message.

[Amaya]

Amaya didn't say much, but nodded as the Bayushi spoke. It was, after all, pretty much spot on. Why add to what was already pretty much thorough as is? Her eyes scanned around, and she seemed satisfied that nothing was going wrong and no course corrections were being made that required tacking.

[Usagi Zenko]

"Oh? That could be interesting." He looks towards the cabin. "Kind of an analogy for the Empire, is a ship, no? You need the captain to keep it on course, but you need the sailors too, or else the ship will fight the captain's desires."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hopefully not interesting, in the Lion sense of the word... Hoshi glanced at Zenko as she tried to take in the analogy, "-Ah hai...I suppose it could. I've always thought of the ship more of any other military unit, it doesn't change the fact that the commander controls his men and manages with the terrain as best he can with the Fortunes hopefully on his side. We're all pieces in a board land or sea."

"May I ask of Usagi's previous assignment by chance?" She brought up curiously, hoping this one wasn't just a mountain pass guard.
