[Moon 13, Aft Deck, Evening] Strolling the Deck (Open)

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Are you aware how big fish get when you're this far from the Empire?" Hoshi asked the scared woman with a look, it wasn't a challenge or concern, just a question wanting an answer.

[Amaya]

"Hai. My preference is not to hunt as I have unless we get close t'shore somewhere or off an island. Th'fare is a lot smaller in close where islands or mainland's at. Out this deep... th'sharks are a whole other ball'f twine. Ya don't wanna tangle with those types," she said, grunting a bit and moving towards one of the ropes to check it. She seemed satisfied with a glance and made a note to retie it a bit later. Enough course corrections and ropes always got a little slack.

"Sharks this deep... whole other kinda fish."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"I don't." Hoshi said coolly on the topic of tangling up with deep water sharks. "I'll accept that mere common sense with any large wild animal, thank you." She sighed internally with that thought. How common it is this season, we shall see.

[Amaya]

"Good plan, -sama," she said, nodding and frowning. Fuck me rigid. Sea of Shadows... Her head shook a little as she gazed out into the near darkness of the sea surrounding them, hoping they were past this soon every minute. She glanced back towards Hoshi, not making eye contact but waiting to see if the woman had some other requirement of her as of yet. It was best not to assume she was dismissed until actually dismissed or an emergency occurred.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Her need for the other woman's attention hasn't waned yet, she brought up another question. "Do you know many of the samurai here...Amaya?" She was doubtful many of the samurai were chatty with the heimen here but she was talking to one now wasn't she?

[Usagi Zenko]

Zenko peeked his head above the floor of the deck momentarily and then ducked back down. Either hoping or daring the ocean's waves not to be there anymore.

After a few moments, his sigh was lost upon the wind and he came forth more boldly, eyes darting from place to place as his bare feet found their way along the deck.

Haha, bare feet! Not so slippery are now you ship! He stayed away from the railing a little ways before moving to the more open 'training' area. So doing he stopped and caught his breath, looking about for any treacherous ropes about to trip him, or ropes that'd pull him overboard. As well as for handholds to grab onto should a wave come up.

[Amaya]

"One or two of 'em. Shiba-sama has spoken w'me now n again, and there's someone called an Ichiro, and some ... what's the sort that has the Green and black colors? Sorry, -sama... I don't tell the diffrence too easily," she said, scratching her chin and seeming to think about it a bit. "Some of'm are more willin t'talk, but there's other folks what won't really at all 'less it's orders, like I'm used to."

Catching sight of the hare heading towards the ropes, she saluted him and kept a half an eye on that one. That was another set of colors she had no clue as to what they were.

[Usagi Zenko]

Seeing motion above ocean height, he tentatively looks up. Ah, a salute!

The Hare salutes back bravely, and then looks back down, worried that the motion might let the ocean sneak back up on him while he wasn't looking.

This was the sea of shadows! Hahahahahaahahah. Oh kami, please don't let us die. Oddly, the Hare looks around, and then bends down and knocks on the ship with his knuckles.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

She narrowed her eyes a touch on the woman, rather frustrating her not even knowing the barest of samurai clans. Then again, she was a heimen. She won't be carrying mail any time soon. "Mm. That's fine." She waved off.

Hoshi turned her head toward the new figure who pop-up top side, this once seemed to be a samurai. However barefoot and rather erratic in movements he may be. Was this one particularly blind? Hm, unlikely with that hare in the way he moved his head. No dog either. She greeted him with a polite bow but gave nothing more in case he had something else to tend to.

"It looks like he's trying to find something." She glanced to the heimen, which could have very likely been an order to approach the Hare.

[Usagi Zenko]

Some more motion, and Zenko bows at the lady bowing towards him. He didn't have time at the moment to tell what mon she wore in the light that existed.

He'd been hoping that night would make things easier. But no, no it wasn't. He glanced about again, watching to see if there was any water creeping up over the sides of the boat. It could do that, he'd seen pictures!

[Amaya]

She frowned and walked towards the man, whether at the behest of the woman or simply out of her own duties at the moment. they certainly seemed to coincide. "Excuse me, -sama.... is there something you need?" she said in Zenko's direction, saluting the man and trying to figure out what in the name of the kami the man was about.

[Usagi Zenko]

Distracted or otherwise, he bowed briefly at the voice, and then after looks to see who is talking. "Ah. Well, unless you have a spare bit of the continent in a pocket. No, not really. Just...being careful. Trying to..." don't sound creepy! "Ah...uhm. Get used to this whole..." he waves towards the horizions with both hands. "whole thing. Suitengu-kami's domain, long may the Fortune smile upon this ship."

He pats his obi a bit and takes out a bit of rice to throw over the side of the ship with that. And then tries to return to not looking at the darkness that likely holds lots of water.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi followed the sight of the scatterings of something he tossed in the air but kept quiet as she just watched. It's like this one woke up yesterday. Make that tonight.

[Amaya]

Amaya frowned and an eyebrow raised. She actually leaned in just a bit closer, her grizzled, tanned and scarred face more clear in all of its weathered glory as she sniffed rather obviously. It wasn't exactly her specialty, but if this guy was drunk out of his gourd, she was not above taking a sai to his skull until he didn't cause any further harm to himself and the ship at large. She might not be a doshin, but it seemed a safe bet that'd work out ok if he was really drunk.

"If -sama's concerned about Suitengu-no-kami's realm bein round him, it'll be there t'morrow too," she said hesitantly, her eyes narrowed at him. "This late, though, ya can't see much t'get used to for now, so maybe ya wanna pop back n see it durin th'Jade Sun's bright light?"

[Usagi Zenko]

He shakes his head. "Saw a lot of it this afternoon. But my thanks." He offers a thin smile. "Still..getting used to this whole, no land thing."

He coughs. "Nothing like the lake back home." His tone is such that its easy to understand how much he wished it was.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Seeing that the cannon fodder didn't get cut down by the erratic Hare, Hoshi approached to see what the hub bub was about. She bowed politely from an appropriate distance. "Konbanwa Hare-san."

[Usagi Zenko]

Zenko bows again. "Ah, yes, evening." He squints a bit in the light, "Bayushi-sama." Straightening, he continues; "I'm Usagi Zenko. And I guess we're ah...ship-mates yes? All of us?"

"Heh...not much choice about the matter this far out after all." he makes an attempt at levity.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"This one is Bayushi Hoshi, pleased to meet you Usagi-san." Hoshi returned the bow in kind with her introduction. "There's little guesswork involved, we are very much ship-mates I think. We are a company every since we left the mainland. It should sink in after you get your bearings ne?"

[Amaya]

For the moment, she went silent as her betters started talking. Her eyes continued to dart about, keeping a watch on all that was around them and idly making a private note that the girl was Bayushi-sama and the man Usagi-sama, whatever the latter meant. Bayush... oh wait, those were the bad men her former masters insulted all the time, weren't they? great.

[Usagi Zenko]

He nods and looks pointedly at the silent one. "And you? I hope no Hare has given you cause for anger, that it quiets your tongue?" If one was skilled at courtly etiquette or perhaps just observant, it would likely be clear the Hare doesn't realize the difference in social stations between them.

"And hai. Although I have to say, that's become my least favorite phrase." he frowns. "'Left the mainland' that is."
