[Moon13: Morning- Armory, Open] Nerves

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Rinzuki bites her lips as she takes the position once again. This time, though, she...well, she wobbles a little bit less.

Those floors are hard!

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko eyes the Iuchi, walking forward as if she's gonna trip the Iuchi again if she doesn't hurry up.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Rinzuki casts a glance towards the advancing Crab.

"Can I just fall forwards?"

[Shiba Nozomi]

Disturbingly pale eyes watch the whole endeavor with an utter lack of amusement. Nozomi notes how well Himiko manages to avoid mauling the Iuchi, and the information is stored away for later examination.

Falling into the stance that the Yasuki had just shown them, Nozomi regards Yakusoku with a look of determination. Tiny as she was, and as nervous as she could be, she was going to take this distraction and run with it. "Well, Ichiro-san... p-perhaps we c-can give it a tr-try?"

All the flopping around the Iuchi was doing was actually doing a decent job of covering up sounds Nozomi didn't want to hear, anyway.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko shook her head. "Gotta learn te fall backwards. Nearly every single throw ye'll ever learn puts ye on yer back, so ye gotta know how te do it." Her left foot slipped behind Rinzuki's right, prepped to make sure she went backwards one way or another.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"I don't..." She takes a step backwards and catches Himiko's foot with her own. Her arms flail about wildly, trying to grab onto something, anything to keep from hitting the...


*smack*



...floor.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko shook her head, and despite herself managed a couple of girlish giggles. She walked over and held her hand out for the Iuchi. "Fear's a sin, Iuchi-san. If yer afraid of the fall, ye'll be far more likely te hurt yerself than if ye take a deep breath and jump into it."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"The fall hurts." She allows herself to be helped up, and groans as she twists from side to side, popping her back. "That's a good reason to be afraid of it."

[Yasuki Himiko]

"Well of course it hurts. From what I hear, ridin' a horse does too the first time ye do it. The point is te minimize yer pain, that way when ye get thrown ye know what yer doin'. It could mean the difference between life and death one day."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"Can we just...work on the falling stuff later?" Rinzuki looks up at the Crab woman with eyes watery with pain. "Or maybe just cut to the part where we roll around?"

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

Yakusoku had watched enough of the display for the amusement to wear off... for now, at least. She's about to turn back to her own training when Nozomi speaks up. Her gaze turns that way, the Badger clearing her throat and giving the Phoenix's stance an appraising look. "'aight," she nods slightly, "ya've seen some of the basic learnin' with those two. Watcha rather work on Shiba-san? Fallin? Strikin? Grapplin?" As she asks Yakusoku closes a bit of the distance between them, hand reaching up to adjust her headband.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko shakes her head. "This is stuff ye have te learn before anythin' else. It'll help ye in all aspects of jiujutsu, including the rollin' around. I know it ain' fun, but it's good fer ye if yer serious about learnin'."

[Shiba Nozomi]

Yakusoku had watched enough of the display for the amusement to wear off... for now, at least. She's about to turn back to her own training when Nozomi speaks up. "I'm p-pretty good at falling... I d-don't have very far to g-go anyway. Maybe the g-gr-grappling part...?" She holds up her diminutive hands, as an explanation as to why that might be the most difficult aspect for her.

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

"Aight," she nods looking down at the Shiba's hands. Not very strong most likely. Lets see... "Now when it comes to that we're gonna be lookin' at two different sorts of attacks: holds and throws. How much strength you packin' in those little arms?" Yakusoku holds out one of her larger, calloused hands and plants her feet firmly against the floor. "Try'n move me. Need ta know what I'm workin' with here."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Himiko shakes her head. "This is stuff ye have te learn before anythin' else. It'll help ye in all aspects of jiujutsu, including the rollin' around. I know it ain' fun, but it's good fer ye if yer serious about learnin'."

Rinzuki sighs as she resumes her stance, and mumbles something under her breath. She wobbles back and forth for a few moments, then squeezes her eyes together as she falls backwards, half-catching herself as she hits the floor.

She still inhales sharply at the pain, though.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko nods. "At least ye fell on yer own this time." She reaches her hand out to help Rinzuki up again. "But ye can't try and catch yerself. Ye just have to make sure ye slap the ground when yer back hits. Trust me, it'll hurt one hell of a lot less if ye do it right."

[Shiba Nozomi]

"Aight," she nods looking down at the Shiba's hands. Not very strong most likely. Lets see... "Now when it comes to that we're gonna be lookin' at two different sorts of attacks: holds and throws. How much strength you packin' in those little arms?" Yakusoku holds out one of her larger, calloused hands and plants her feet firmly against the floor. "Try'n move me. Need ta know what I'm workin' with here."

Nozomi looks at the other woman for a moment. She takes one hand and places it atop the Badger's wrist, then nervously attempts to pull her into a grapple. "Ano... l-like this?" She really seems rather uncertain if it's supposed to work like this at all.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Himiko nods. "At least ye fell on yer own this time." She reaches her hand out to help Rinzuki up again. "But ye can't try and catch yerself. Ye just have to make sure ye slap the ground when yer back hits. Trust me, it'll hurt one hell of a lot less if ye do it right."

"Right..." Rinzuki accepts the help and allows herself to be pulled to her feet. "I think my bottom is done with the falling.."

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko nods. "We can resume training tomorrow if ye want te keep goin'."

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

Yakusoku could've moved out of the way with ease. But that wasn't what this training was about. Instead she allows the Shiba to grab her arm and attempt to place her into a proper grapple. "It's a start," she speaks calmly," looking down at her arm, watching Nozomi's movements. "The difficult part though is whatcha do from here. Ya wanna hurt someone while your grapplin', then ya gotta be able to hold on." With a grunt Yakusoku shifts in the grapple, moving with a grace that reinforces the fact that she'd allowed herself to be grabbed. "Don't ya let me go," she orders firmly, suddenly attempting to overpower Nozomi's grasp with a quick jerk of her arm. (PM)
