[Day 11. Early Morning. Aftdeck. Open] Appeasing Suitengu

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

"Nothin' the other experienced sailors won't already tell ya. Keep yer wits about you and don't do anything stupid. Offer your prayers to Suitengu and maybe get yourself some good luck charms," reaching up the Badger taps one of her gold hoop earrings with a slight smile. "Me, I only sailed on ships that weren't outta Clear Water long. More experienced than many here but if ya want really detailed information, yer better off askin' the Mantis."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Better than the Unicorn, I suppose.

Fuichi nods appreciatively. "Thank you, Ichiro-san. I appreciate your insight."

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

"No problem Daidoji-san," she nods her head and smiles, "we're crew now. If ya need information, someone to help pull a rope, or just an ally in a scrap, I will do what I can. Its how its gotta be when yer on a ship. After all, ya want your crew mates to want to pull you out if ya end up in the sea."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi laughs for a moment. "It is good to have met you, then, Ichiro-san. I cannot think of many who would spare the time to help this delicate flower in a scrap. Of course, I do not intend to get into very many."

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

Yakusoku snorts softly, shaking her head, a small smile lingering on her lips. "Well best'o'luck with that Daidoji-san. Just watch yer-self. Sometimes not wantin' to be in a scrap is the sort of thing that makes the rowdier types we may see at port wanna fight with ya."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi inclined his head, a slow smile playing on his lips. "Then they'll be in for a nasty surprise."

[Isawa Junpei]

Junpei gave a slow turn quirking an eyebrow at the Crane's comment. While normally he might be more interested in an elaboration, part of the fun was the mystery. "Honestly, I just don't understand life on ships and in ports. It's like some sort of mirror world where the less couth you are the more respected you become and the less you care about other people the more they admire you. It's like courtesy and compasion have no place on a ship, virtues I tend to hold in high regard."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi smirked. "Port never seemed so bad when I was living there. Of course, I cannot speak for the seedier ports. Mura Sabishii Toshi is a paragon of order."

[Isawa Junpei]

"It's the same with many Phoenix ports, but then the same could be said for many Phoenix boats. The few I've been on, which I suppose makes me unable to say for sure for our entire fleet, but those I've been on the captains have been far more encouraging to their ranks. Then again, Captain Uminushi has been nothing but nice to me...it's his gunso who can be a bit abrasive."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi frowned ever so slightly.

"I still believe that you should reserve your opinion on Isawa-gunso. He has been nothing but kind to me."

[Isawa Junpei]

"I look forward to spending some time with my cousin. Given the cosmopolitan atmosphere on board I'd half expected not to see another Phoenix, but having a fellow Isawa here is a small comfort no matter his demeanor. Knowing he's made a favorable impression on you, however, gives me hope of the same. It would be unfortunate to have my only family member aboard be, shall we say, less than friendly."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi nodded in agreement with that statement.
"There seem to be a dearth of Crane on board. So far I have merely been trying not to embarrass Asahina-san. He is very experienced, it seems."

[Isawa Junpei]

"I've yet to speak with him, have you? I'd be most interested in hearing about him, from all I've heard he's not a member of his family's school. He's apparently some kind of artilleryman?" Junpei canted his head, his voice taking on a conversational tone that tried not to exclude the Ichiro who was standing not more than a yard or so away.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi shook his head. "I have not spoken with him directly, no, but we have had training sessions together. He is very much in the swing of things. If only he'd do something about that Moustache." The Daidoji grimaces slightly. "Have you met him directly, Ichiro-san?"

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

"Yer the first Crane I met since leavin' port Daidoji-san. I'm sure I'll be meetin'em eventually though. Hopin' to get to know the whole crew here in the next few days."

[Isawa Junpei]

"Not a bad idea. No matter how short this voyage is going to be, we're still going to have to be bunkmates for the nest few weeks to a month, at least. And it's more than possible it's going to be a lot longer than that." His eyes slipped to the flanking ships of the flotilla.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Bunkmates... A slow smile spreads across Fuichi's face, though he does not speak.

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

Yakusoku nods at the Phoenix's reply, catching Fuichi's smile but thinking nothing of it. "Well boys, been nice talkin' but I really should take ta gettin' ready for this afternoon's trainin'." Stretching her arms the Badger yawns softly, glancing back toward the door that'd take her below deck. "Don' be strangers. Never talked to shugenja much but ya two ain't half bad."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi bowed to their new friend. "It has been a sincere pleasure speaking with you, Ichiro-san."

[Isawa Junpei]

"Arigato, Ichiro-san," Junpei bowed and turned to Fuichi. "I'm afraid I should be on my way too. As much as I could probably speak with you all day, I think it would probably be best to get busy doing something. Fortunes only know what that could be without getting in the way, but I suppose I should try nonetheless."
