[Moon 12, Aft Deck, Early Afternoon] Sea of Fog (Open)

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Dressed in the day’s outfit provided to the crew, Hoshi quietly made her way topside from the quarters below to only be greeted the morning fog that swept through the air. She narrowed her eyes to accustom herself with seeing through the veil before she found herself by a railing, likely taking in a view of whatever she could catch in her sights with the rolling fog in front of her.

Akodo Amuro also found himself upon the deck in that early afternoon time, He strolled casually across the planks of wood his hands casually clasped behind his back as he looked out over the water, well the water and the fog and whatever else he saw. He moved easily with the sway of the ocean as though his legs were part of the ship its self. In his thirty years he had only set foot on a vessel twice, and yet he, supposed, he was one of the lucky few that caught on quickly and had little to no issue in acclimating to the change in terrain. He chalked it up to his training.

He noticed the younger Scorpion woman nearby but made no move to engage her directly, after all he did not want to intrude upon her thoughts. Instead he simply walked nearby her toward the railing, far enough away to not intrude but calculatingly close enough to hold a conversation if one were to materialize.

Hoshi wasn't invested with very much with the passing fog in front of her. She was rather sure that there was going to be sea and sky in front of her, but perhaps it was the fact that she took both for granted until the morning that made her almost interested in searching what laid beyond. Almost was the key word. She gave a small shake of her head and dropped her search to turn her attention to the Lion on the same deck.

"Ohayou gozaimasu, Lion-san." She said softly with a proper bow.

[Akodo Amuro]

He returned the bow courteously and fluidly turning from the rail to face her as she addressed him. "Greetings to you as well Scorpion-san." he replied his voice even and measured, perhaps as far as catious. It was almost as if he were unused to being spoken to. "How do you find our communal fifth day at sea?"

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Her gaze casually drifted to him again as he made a conversation offering, there was slight lift of her brows as she found something curious. "Mm, keeping track of the days Lion-san? It doesn't sound like a good habit to take up."

She lifted a hand and shook her head to disregard her previous statement, her attention turning back to the view in front of her. "-Ah. Ominous if I was to say something about my...fifth day here. The sky doesn't colour my feelings entirely though, I'm sure the day will be much more predictable really."

He didn't respond when she questioned him, nor did he blink with the seeming slight or reprimand. He'd grown accustomed to much worse, and from those that actually meant what they said.

"Just so, Scorpion-san. This one is Akodo Amuro, and if I keep track of day it is merely a habit I have developed, accuracy of time was drilled into me when I was younger."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Habits themselves are never a bad thing Akodo-san. accuracy of time is very admirable when one keeps a stern time table. Good. Maybe I will ask you for the time when it comes down to it." She said with a few nods as she turned to give him another glance.

"This one is Bayushi Hoshi, formerly of the 14th Scorpion Legion over watching Ryoko Owari Toshi. I'm honoured to meet you Akodo-san." She bowed again at her introduction before returning her place on the railing casually.

He nods. Looking out to the fog. "It is a pleasure to meet you Bayushi-san. You come from a prestigious appointment then. Wasn't the 14th only assigned to Ryoko Owari within the last year? I'm fairly certain it wasn't two years past that they held garrison positions along the Shinomen."

He mused his thoughts out loud. "Of course I am remembering maps from some time back, but I may be confusing them with the 12th, either way. I served a hunting unit near the Lion's border with the Yogo at the time."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi glanced to Amuro and gave a shake of her head. "It's probably a simple confusion Akodo-san, logistics are a complex matter within the Clan alone. I've been with the 14th ever since government of Ryoko Owari returned into Scorpion hands. Your guess shows good effort though."

She nodded once. "I take it you speak of the mountain pass that's shared by our Clans?"

"Ah perhaps I am thinking of the 12th then. Afterall, as you said, logistics are rough enough without ones reports and papers to look at, and even tougher when trying to remember a disposition sheet from over three years past." he smiled. "But I apologize if my talk of such things is boring. Another habit, I suppose, and probably not a good one this time."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi smiled faintly, which was only evident through the expression of her eyes with her mask on. She followed with a small shake of her head at the apology. "Iie. It's fine, I'd like to think that I'm reasonable enough that it would be hard for boredom to get to me. Especially after just so short of a talk. I do hope...that boredom isn't such an issue to you. Concerning yourself over the 12th and the 14th makes me think you've had a lot of time with your unit...Akodo-san."

[Akodo Amuro]

"I served in two units in my career, both within the Akodo. In the last unit I served, I had only been appointed to after the Khan began his winter march upon the capital." he looks down over the rail the thought bringing up some memories.

"I am uncertain if you fought in that War, but it was in that time I became responsible for a Hunting Unit as it was called, which was made up of half ronin and half Ashigaru with a mere twenty lion. Our job was to move about and verify locations of potential threats, along the border."

He looked up. "Please take no insult, but only a fool would dismiss the Scorpion, and in those times Otemi-dono wished to be certain. Regardless, yes I believe it was the 12th as I think back on it."

He trailed off a bit realizing he had spoken for too long likely. He was never very much good at conversation it seemed.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"I had no role in that war Akodo-san." Hoshi gave a small shake of her in closing on that matter and returned her attention to the fog that was in front of them. The blast fog was becoming a rather annoying screen when she wanted a few of the sea, for once.

"Iie. No offense taken. Few may consider that flattery even." She said easily enough in a soft tone. "Let's consider the present then? Your peers must find some admiration with your appointment on this ship. To my personal knowledge, it's not common for a Lion to take to the water."

[Akodo Amuro]

"No. It is not common. I was sent to the Capital with instruction of being assigned to whichever legion required my skills. So here I am. My second time on a vessel of any size." he replied, his eyes gazing toward where shore would be somewhere in the distance and fog.

"And the first time I have lost sight of the mainland for more than a few minutes at a time."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"The joys of unspecific instruction ne? You might have struck a favour, depending on one's opinion. There are no easy assignments but this one..." She placed her hands on the railing and gave the material a quick drum of her fingers. "...Is particularly extraordinary than the majority of the legion."

"How do you feel being dependent on this particular vessel now that land is just a past?"

[Akodo Amuro]

He couldn't help but laugh a bit at the first part of her comment. "How I feel is irrelevant I suppose, but as far as vessels go she seems as sturdy as any, and our commanders are no harsher than any I have served with before." he shrugged and turned his gaze back to her.

"Still you asked a fair question. I am uncomfortable putting my faith into a work I have little control of or placing myself in a battlefield I have no knowledge of. But that goes back to my training again. May I ask of you the same question Bayushi-san?"

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Far more compliment than complaint." She managed to quip out once the laugh was heard.

Her gaze drifted slowly as she settled into thought with a cross of her arms. "Praying for the best was yesterday, only action remains for today. I don't second guess this particular vessel nor the crew on board. What strong is it if everyone doesn't hold it together? I'm sure we'll find some conclusion together, with some surprises thrown in along the way. Whether in term or journey." She resisted the urge to say 'here we go again'.

[Akodo Amuro]

"Hai." he said in reply to her introspection. "There are still a few without their sea legs it seems, and a few that I do not think have served under any military command in their lives, but they will learn." he left off the obligatory or they will die, but it was on his mind.

"As you can imagine I am not keen on surprises, the Fortunes know I have had my fair share of those. Still it warms my heart to know that there is at least one other person aboard who is keeping one eye on present and one on the horizon."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi lifted her brows at the man, "It's doubtful that there is only one around for that. Your fears are unfounded Akodo-san."

[Akodo Amuro]

"Not a fear." he said. "You are simply the first person I have chosen to have any sort of conversation with. I suppose that if the going rate holds up then everyone will be as vigilant."
