[Foredeck, Moon 10 - Evening] Breathe

[Shiba Naomi]

After a day of orientation, helping out with fixing the small damages from the storm, Naomi was glad to have a quiet moment to look at the beautiful night-sky.
It was too fine a night to spend beneath deck asleep. At least, so far.

Leaning her arms on the railing, she looked down at the ripples in the water caused by the ship as it glided through Suitengu's realm, admiring the glittering reflecting on them from the stars above.

[Yasuki Himiko]

The quiet serenity of the night, sadly was not to last. Coming up to the foredeck, announced by the recitation of a lewd, loud, and certainly terribly sung Crab drinking song, was Yasuki Himiko. Her pipe was rest firmly in her fingers, a slight trail of smoke coming up behind her. For now, she didn't seem to notice the Shiba, to enthralled in her reverie she was.

[Shiba Naomi]

Naomi looked up from her gazing and over to the Crab. Oh dear... I hope she's not drunk. It would be awful if someone were to break the rules so early.
She watched the Yasuki carefully without intruding on her, hoping she could discern if the other woman as drunk or not. Singing drinking songs alone doesn't mean you're drunk...

[Yasuki Himiko]

If her actual posture were any indication, she seemed sober enough. The young Crab walked to the ships railing, taking a long drag of her pipe. "Good night for a smoke," she said to no one in particular.

[Shiba Naomi]

That's a relief... Naomi breathed a deep sigh.

"Oh... I suppose it is..." she answered meekly as the woman spoke, unsure if she had directed it at her.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko turned her attention to the meek voice that answered her statement. "Oh... hiya. Name's Yasuki Himiko. Think I've seen ya in the quarters, but don't think I've had a chance to say hi or anythin'. An' what should I be callin' you?"

[Shiba Naomi]

"Shiba Naomi, but just Naomi will suffice so there's no confusion between me and my fellow Shiba here, if that's alright with you," she offered a smile. "It's nice to meet you. There's so many on this ship, even on just the women's side of the quarters, it's hard to get the chance to properly meet everyone so quickly."

[Yasuki Himiko]

"Naomi, you say? Guess if yer gonna make me use yer given name, I'll make ya use mine." She looked back out to the sea, a smile on her face. "There are a lot of people here. Ain't seen any crane yet, though, so I guess I can count my blessings there."

[Shiba Naomi]

"I think I saw one... I'm not certain, since so many of the usual fashions used to identify one's clan and family isn't what people usually wear on a ship, after all. As Moshi-gunso reminded us of earlier today, neh. But we're certainly got plentiful of shugenja onboard for this trip and a surprising number of Unicorn."

[Yasuki Himiko]

"We really do, don't we. That Iuchi woman's a bit off 'er rocker, though." Another drag of her pipe, then she looked at it for a second. "Want a drag? Tobacco probably ain't the quality y'all have in Phoenix lands, but it still does it's job."

[Shiba Naomi]

"Ah, no thank you. I don't smoke," she gave a slight shake of her head.
"Iuchi-woman... would that be the one I've seen still wearing rather... nice clothes, considering we're on a ship?"

[Yasuki Himiko]

"Yer loss," she mutters, taking another drag. "She probably still is, yeah. Kinda flirtatious to, if I recall."

[Shiba Naomi]

"... Well, as long as it doesn't go beyond that, there shouldn't be any problems, hopefully. Would be a shame if people were breaking the rules when we've only been on the sea for two days, after all." Naomi shrugged.
"Though, I imagine some appriciate that she is... flirtatious..."

[Yasuki Himiko]

"Yeah probably. I'm sure some people like that soft touch bullsh*t. Too girly fer me, though." she blows out a long bellow of smoke, watching the grey gas float lazily up into the air.

[Shiba Naomi]

Naomi's eyes followed the drifts of smoke for a moment.
"Well, I hope she will toughen up a bit after a few days. Looking pretty and wearing jewelry and perfume is something one stops doing quickly when working on a boat. If you're just a passanger, sure, but we're all on duty here after all."

"But... enough about that. She'll come around to her senses eventually. You seem accustomed to sailing, Himiko-sama."

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko turned her head to look at Naomi, her gaze one seeming to suggest that the Shiba's head might have been removed from her shoulders recently. "Don't you be -Sama-ing me now, Naomi-san. I ain't never been any Samurai's -Sama, and I doubt I ever will be." She then shook her head, returning to a bit of normalcy. "Nah, I've gotten some training on land, and learned plenty from the books I've read, but I myself have never been a crew woman. Shame, though, I've always loved the idea of sailing. I think it's just good old Crab constitution that made getting acclimated to the boat so easy."

[Shiba Naomi]

"Himiko-san, then," another nod. Always good to err on the side of caution, after all.

"Really? You must certainly be blessed with the legendary constitution of the Crab indeed. I've seen some of those who have been on a few boat-rides before who haven't been taking this trip too well to start with."
I didn't know there were that many helpful books on sailing though.
"Your fellow kinsmen seem to have little trouble as well."

[Yasuki Himiko]

"Ain't surprised. Both o' them were lucky enough to get placed on the Crab turtle ships. I'm damned jealous." There was indeed a clear hint of envy in her eyes, as if the vision of the great ships danced on her conscious.

[Shiba Naomi]

"Well, you're now stationed on an Imperial vessel, so it's hardly impossible that you'll have the chance in the future. Who knows, maybe one day you'll be a great sailor of the Crab on one of the turtle ships, and I can say I met the great Yasuki Himiko when she begun her sailing career."
While it was offered in jest, more or less, she did seem to hope for a bright future for her fellow crewmate.

Himiko snorted openly at that. "I could only hope to be so lucky. More'n likely if I get kicked outta the legion, they'll place me back on the wall. Wouldn't be a total loss though. Sometimes finding inventive ways to kill the denizen's of the Lost one's realm can be fun."
