He lowers his gaze to the little Phoenix, "A turtle ship, the Jade Fortress. We sailed the skull tides and poison foamed waters in the Sea of Sorrows. About the worst place in the Empire. There isn't a Carpenter Wall to protect you from what swims in the Ocean."

While one would think he was being funny trying to scare non-Crab, something about his demeanor hints that he doesn't joke much.

[Shiba Nozomi]

Underneath her tan, she'd gone just about as pale as her eyes. "O-oh..."

If she could have buried her face in her hands without being rude, she would have done so in an instant. Great topic choice... a real winner there. Way to go.

"So... y-you pre-prefer it h-here?" She was trying valiantly.

[Hida Musasha]

He shakes his head, "Not so far, feels too much like forced retirement. They ain't puttin' me ta werk, and I got werk in my limbs. It's makin' me stir crazy. Ya always ask so many queschuns, or is it cause yer so wee? I ain't met one like you out here. Where I'm from, the wee ones are angry. They don' talk, they jus' punch ya in the dangly bits and spit on ya if ya don' hit 'em back."

[Shinjo Qulan]

Between the thick accent and what was being said, Qulan was thoroughly horrified by the Hida. She couldn't believe someone would speak to a child like that. What do I do in a situation like this, Lady Shinjo?

[Shiba Nozomi]

That was about as much as she could handle. Shuffling a few involuntary steps backwards, she squeaks,"S-sumim-ma-masen... pl-please... don't h-hit me..."

[Shinjo Qulan]

"No one's going to hit you, Shiba-san." Qulan approached the girl, looking down at her with a serious face. "I believe it would do no good to hit a crew mate, the captain might get angry if someone got hurt already."

[Hida Musasha]

He stares at her, "Who said I was gonna hit ya? That's jus' rude ta hit someone ya barely know. Do I look like some kinda Yobanjin monster er somethin'? I jus' don' get you folks."

[Shiba Nozomi]

Not entirely certain the Crab wouldn't end up hitting her... and possibly by accident, Nozomi makes a somewhat panicked executive decision.

Bowing rather nervously to the two samurai, certain words find their way to the ears of her companions. Ok, well... more like parts of words. "I... Sumi...-sen... duties...eto... Goodnight."

And a subsequent shuffling retreat that increases in pace rather quickly until she's out of view.

Once somewhere safe(ish), she leans against whatever part of the ship is closest and takes a number of deep breaths. This wasn't going to be an easy trip...

"Poor girl was so nervous she ran off." Qulan commented as she turned her attention back to the sea and the stars.

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha watches her scurry off, "Agile little creature..." Looking over at the Unicorn, "You really do smell...er...nice... Like my mother's wedding gown." He shrugs, "Not that you'd understand me."

He turns around, "This must be how the kami felt when they fell out of heaven. I get it now."

He starts to walk away.

[Shinjo Qulan]

"Eh?" Qulan turned to the man with a look of absolute... Well... Not exactly horror. "E-excuse me? Oh. You're talking about my perfume. Ah, it's jasmine. My favorite scent."
