As for the gaijin, he does not have much use for them. Almost as if they are not worth noticing.
the exception to this is was the little girl he say in the streets, but that was more because it made him think of his brother than anything else.

Why this life rather than another that he could have used to separate his personality from that of his brother? I mean, why a ship?

he didn't really have any choice in the matter. His cousin decided that it would be good for him to get out and explore. Haigo remembered that growing up that Hikaru liked listing to Otemi's stories about the deathless.
It was a sorta misguided attempt to help Hikaru. He rather would not have gone, but he was way to proper to tell his family damyio that he didnt want this "honor"

I liked Hikaru, he seemed very true to the Clan. Shame RL kept you so busy but I enjoyed our threads all the same
