[Agasha Qian-Fan]

"It depends on whether you're using spells or ballistas and how good you're at aiming the last," he replies with a chuckle. The Captain casually tips his cup to the side to allow some of the sake to fall to the wooden floor. It paid to be respectful and it paid to give whatever listening Fortunes their due.

Uminushi moves to join Qian-fan at his table, ignoring whatever discomfort his presence might elicit from the young man. Once seated, the Mantis drops his voice confidingly, eyes glinting with good humor even as his expression turns serious, "By the by, Agasha-san, I wouldn't recommend making any references to 'sinking similar vessels' whilst you're on board. We sailors are a superstitious lot and who knows what will carry to the Fortune's ears."

"But, if we were to speak hypothetically about sinking say... a pirate ship, that's purely academic, very useful, and of no harm, neh?" a conspiratorial grin surfaces as he gives the Phoenix a wink.

The young Phoenix gazes impassively, either missing the wink or plain ignoring it.

"It would be spells. I have no idea how to work a ballista, but I can surely ask the Fire kami to strike a . . . pirate vessel. I was merely wondering where would be best to do so."

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"Now the question lies in which prayers you know, I'm more familiar with the results than the particulars," he sips his drink and moves to refill Junpei's cup and then his own. Uminushi remains casual and cheerful, "I know, for example, it takes a lot of effort to set a whole pirate ship on fire but a lot less to set their sails alight. If they have a clear leader... then asking Osano-wo to strike them down is a true blessing, but not a guarante that their forces will fall apart."

The Captain picks up his cup and takes a sip, eyeing the Phoenix over its rim, "So, I have a bit of a personal question if you don't mind answering Agasha-san."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Qian-Fan nods along to the Captain's advice, agreeing that setting large blazes at range does indeed take a lot of effort. The topic seems to bring some life to the Agasha's eyes.

"If you wish, Yoritomo-sama."

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"I read your recommendations. They were especially complimentary regarding the work you did at Toshi Ranbo as a healer," Uminushi lifts his cup and gestures in the correct direction of the Capital. He cocks his head to the side, his earring flashing briefly as it caught the light. "Did you wish to serve as a healer for the Ninth or did you want to go into something a bit more offensive?"

[Shiba Naomi]

The Lion grins. "Then we have something in common Shiba-san. Archers can be great warriors too you know, I am also a student of the bow. Not that I'd outright say I'm a great warrior mind you."

He nods, satisfied. "Knowledge of weather, maps and such is a great asset on a ship. Always good to know a cook when you get tired of ratios too."

"I'm certain Akodo-sama is a much better student of Kyujutsu than I," she said sincerely. While it may be flattery, it was at least very honest flattery.

"I sincerely hope that the rest of the crew would at least think my cooking better than iron rations." Naomi covered her mouth as she laughed a soft a bubbly laughter. "I even took the liberty of bringing some ingredients from my home."

[Shiba Nozomi]

Hoping nobody was watching too closely, Nozomi gives up her search for a serving utensil, and surreptitiously grabs a piece of fruit with her fingers. A glance around and it quickly disappears into her mouth. She carefully pours herself a cup of tea, and then finds herself a seat in the general orbit of the Captain. Not close enough to indicate she wished to speak to him or to really get his attention, but still relatively nearby.

The fact that it also means she can hear what the Agasha is saying to him doesn't seem to bother her a whit.

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

He cocks his head to the side, his earring flashing briefly as it caught the light. "Did you wish to serve as a healer for the Ninth or did you want to go into something a bit more offensive?"

"A few months ago I would have said healing and nothing else, but during the War I increased my repertoire of battle prayers as a matter of necessity. My yojimbo returned to the clan once I reached this port and I have no actual martial training myself, just the ability to call down the wrath of the kami. Healing would still be my priority but if a pirate was to attack us then I would not hesitate to obey orders for offense."

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"Mmm. I suppose you wouldn't oppose weapons training then...?"

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

He blinks a few times.

"It is not something I ever considered. We have the Shiba for that . . . usually."

He nods slowly.

"If you think it is necessary, then it is something I should learn. No one is without their own duties already to waste time protecting those that cannot help themselves."

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"You're quick," he grins and sips his sake, "I'm glad."

Uminushi pauses and nods to Qian-Fan's still full cup, "Not a drinker...?"

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Qian-Fan gives his cup another stare. To him it's a grimace, unfortunately it comes out as more of a pout on his pretty face.

"I have never been fond of sake. Plum wine perhaps, but I find the taste of sake to be onjectionable."

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

Uminushi blinks a bit when the young man pouts, a roguish grin crossing his face, "Any particular vintage..? I myself am partial to the Snow Village plum wine they make up in the Dragon mountains, though I know its a bit more tart than sweet..."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

"The umeshu they make at home, my apologies Kyuden Agasha, has always been my favourite. There was also one we could get at the Silver Snowflake tea house in Kyuden Isawa. It was beautifully sweet and I never found out where it was brewed."

It only took one look at is face to know that tea house had not survived the War of Dark Fire.

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

Uminushi nods and sips his drink, changing the subject for the Qian-fan's sake, "So, do you have any hobbies? Something to keep you occupied? Even with duty rosters, it can get downright boring out on the sea."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

A slight smile came to his face.

"Reading, Yoritomo-sama. You will always find reading material close by if I am around."

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

Uminushi blinks and chuckles, "I guess some stereotypes are true. Though a word of advice Agasha-san... sticking to your books won't make you friends onboard. People are less likely to watch out for those they know little about."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

"It will be difficult at first, I would imagine. I am used to having Shiba-san around to do all the looking out. She even reminded me of a few meals I had missed at times and eventually took it on herself to make sure I knew at least the basics of making rice and a few other dishes."

He forgot himself and sipped the sake, illiciting yet another pout of annoyance at the taste.

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"Very domestic that. She sounds like a good woman, your Shiba," he chuckles at the look on Qian-Fan's face as he takes another sip of his own drink. "Do you plan on keeping in contact with her while you're serving in the Ninth?"

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

"I may write to her if I have the chance, but she has most likely alreasy been assigned to another priest. Yojimbos of her calibre are seldom left to spin their heels."

His eyes had gone back to their usual distant feel again.

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"Friendship, Agasha-san," he admonishes with a wink.
