[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho remains where she is, holding her shoulder. She hears the sounds down below, but knows she'd be more of a hinderance down there than a help.

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha yells, "Cub is down!" His deep voice carries easily, and it is accompanied with a strange crunching noise from below (damage 26) (Attack Stance, TNtbH 30)

[Akodo Jishaku]

Jishaku growled in fury as the thing with the cat-like face bit into him. Surprisingly there wasn't really any pain, but then the samurai is always prepared for death and doesn't go fainting like a little stuck up Crane at the sight of blood. There was rather a lot of blood though. In fact there was probably an unhealthy amount of blood going around and he idly wondered whose it was. Still, there was a beast or two to kill, and so without hesitation the Lion swung his katana in a wicked arc...

...and stumbled forwards into the long grass. He could hear the sea, and there was a familiar presence just up ahead. It was a woman. He vaguely recognised her but it took a moment for him to realise.

"Grandmother? What in Akodo's name are you doing here? Oh, and you're looking quite good for an old dead woman, if you don't mind me saying so."

Cub's grandmother, who looked as she did when she was about 25, rolled her eyes and walked towards him. "Look around you little Cub, you aren't in the Ivory Kingdoms anymore."

Jishaku did as he was told and reluctantly returned his katana to its saya. He walked forward to meet her halfway and found himself looking down onto a beautiful beach, waves crashing gently on the shore.

"Is this where I think it is? Did I just..."

"Yes my boy, it is. I can't believe you. Do you have any idea what your parents are going to say when they get here?"

Awkwardly he looked away before returning to meet her gaze. "Something about not listening to them, when they said I should take up the family tradition and become a historian?"

She tutted at him in the way that all grandmothers learn to do the instant a grandchild is born. "Tsk. Who cares that you died? You died like a Lion, rushing into battle! No Cub, they'll never get over this one fact..." His grandmother turned to look at the sea, a grin spreading over her face.

"You forgot to return your library books." As she bursts out laughing a grin spreads across Jishaku's face and he chuckles along with her. "Come along then, your grandfather wants to hear about the time you fought alongside Ikoma Otemi."

The two Lion walk down to the beach and off into the distance, their footsteps washed away by the sea.

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

Healed, Yakusoku gazes into the dark, her eyes narrowing. Hearing that the Akodo has fallen she moves down into the darkness, her sword held up to defend herself. Grunting softly at the pain that wracks her body as she heads further below deck she looks about, unable to even discern friend from foe in the blackness. "Can't see shit down here, Ram. We should be fallin' back. Now." Mumbling a few curses under her breath the Badger silently hopes to at least present their unseen enemy with another target to pound on.

Full Defense. +18 to TN

[Kakita Sugita]

A quick scan is all Sugita needs. "And we're outnumbered! We should fall back!" Which Sugita does promptly. He makes certain to watch himself as he moves back outside into the light.

Moved 15 feet out.

The Crane warrior does not appear to have physical wounds. Yet blood seeps from every orifice on his head. He staggers with a grimace upon his face.

(Injured)

[Rixy]

His foe dropped, the beast that had been working over Jishaku but not bloodied by him turned to the next target. It's bloodlust roused, itsank it's talons deeply into the form of the large Crab, gashing the flesh below (8 and 15 damage)

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi, seeing an opportunity, struck it as did any good Scorpion. Alas, her choice of weapon was rather lacking and the feeble blow she gave the beast only seemed to annoy it.

Deciding that perhaps the Ichiro had a wise plan, the Scorpion then backed up the stairs.

[Rixy]

The creatures followed the retreat, enraged.

Once again, a beast clanged it's teeth off of Musasha's armor.

This time, Hoshi was not so lucky and the beast she had vexed returned the favor, sinking it's claws into her as she crept up the stairs. As it followed her up, it became visible, a horrid amalgamation of tiger and man. {22 and 15 damage }

The last beast, tiring of it's meal, attempted to claw up the Ichiro. As puzzled by the darkness as it's prey, it was unable to win past the woman's defense.

[Mirumoto Tomoe]

"Hold them at the stairs. They cannot all get past!" I yell, moving to intercept the abomination tiger-man thing. (33)

Her blade sinks in deep, making the thing roar in rage.

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

The healer, intent on his duty, murmured prayers over Itsuho, healing her shoulder and leaving her once again fit to fight. {{Heal 22}}

[Rixy]

From the darkness, well away from the stairwell, a piteous sound, barely audible above the fighting, escaped one unseen.

Female, by the sound, and young.

With it came muttering, a sutra by it's meter. Those of the Ivory Kingdoms guards who had the wind and life who heard it let out curses of sheer hatred even as their foes, fewer now, roared in praise of their dark Goddess.

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho, now recovered, joined her Cousin in attacking the beast that had come up the stairs, throwing herself recklessly into the assault. {Full Attack} Her blade, too, sank home, cutting off another hunk of it's demonic flesh.

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha, with generations of training behind his actions, took the lit lantern he held yet could not see and smashed it upon the stairs, bellowing up to the Agasha that they needed to burn the ship even as he backed away from his attackers and into the light.

Hoshi did her best to see whatever they're supposed to be seeing, but at the moment she'd be lucky to see her own feet (and add +3TN to that too, forgot!).

Qian-Fan moved towards Sugita, intending on repeating his healing sutra when a sudden waft of something very familiar reached his nose. It reminded him of home and he half smiled at the memories it invoked. Late nights at Kyuden Agasha watching the stars, waiting. Waiting for . . .

FIREWORKS . . .

The smile vanished as he shouted a clear warning.

"GAIJIN PEPPER! OFF THE SHIP NOW! FOR SHIBA'S SAKE RUN!!!"

He turned to obey his own words.
