The conflict between the duty that would require him to heal an ally & the compassion to bring aid to the same ally, to name just two of the bushido tenets, and the cultural aversion to deal with gaijin at all?

One's self, versus the service required by being a samurai in service to the Imperial Legion and thereby in closer connection to direct service to the Throne, albeit through our unusual Yoritomo Captain?

The most greatly hurt of our gaijin allies took his wounds while protecting the same Usagi that the Agasha just healed, putting his life on the line in the defense of what *they* consider to be gaijin.

That to me is the drama of being a samurai in the situation we're currently in.

You have to remember about Singh is he swore fealty to the Mantis. I mean even the original followers of the Kami had to do that.

I just find the standard amusing is all. Rama Sigh is the exact same person he was, he was still born outside of Rokugan, and, admittedly, some Samurai will still treat him as a gaijin. But because he took an oath he is now magically inside the Celestial Cycle and those who treat him as a gaijin supposedly risk the wrath of the Heavens (and the guy's Lord) for doing so.

Singh was not reincarnated as Samurai.

As far as I know, Singh isn't dead yet either.

I have never seen anything about Singh being in the Celestial Order. He swore fealty, that's all. Regardless, if this oath is something that magically brings him into the Order, then it's a Samurai being reincarnated as Samurai, not a gaijin involved anywhere.

But again Sugita has a point. We don't know how it works, and we will probably never be told by the writers. So its best to assume that the Celestial order has its own immigration program with strict entry requirements, of which we can only assume that non Rokugani non-samurai don't qualify for.

That is Shinjo's ritual. Which IS magical. Created by a Kami and all that.

He was given a daisho. He has taken a Family Name. These two things make him a samurai. Not that this is all that uncommon. The Unicorn did the trick of turning gaijin into samurai all the time. That's how they survived the Burning Sands.

Personally, I just like to assume that Rokugan has it wrong when it comes to the rest of the world. It works for Rokugan, don't get me wrong, but this influx of gaijin that they've been having has caused some severe celestial upheaval for them and they're going to have to work it out one way or another.
