[Day 7, Late Morning, Open] Bored

[Kakita Sugita]

Shrug. "Mountains somewhere?"

[Mirumoto Tomoe]

I nod. That would do. "I trained at Shiro Mirumoto and was born there"

[Hida Musasha]

The Hida nods, "I see. Th' only mountains I ever saw up close was the Twilights, an' ya stay outta them if ya ken help it, so I don' know much about livin' tha' life."

[Kakita Sugita]

"I could see the Spine of the World from my home, and I've sailed by them. That's as close as I've gotten to mountains..."

[Mirumoto Tomoe]

I smile at both sets of words. "Well, they are beautiful all year around as well as cold. Most foods are difficult to grow. Horses are rarer than in other lands. There are many monks who travel around. There is always the danger of an avalanche or snow storm but the odd warm day with a joyful sun in the sky is one of the most pleasant you can ever experience. As are the hot springs there and quiet, contemplative days. I do miss it sometimes. It is very different to being on a ship..." I finish, continuing to smile as I start mentally considering the differences and similarities. Mostly differences.

[Hida Musasha]

The Hida leans back, he talks under his breath, but his deep booming voice still carries into both companions' ears, "Sounds dull ta me..."

[Mirumoto Tomoe]

I chuckle "It can be. I've found being aboard a ship is more exciting. Though it can be dull too sometimes..." I say, smiling at both men "don't you think so?". Endless water, day after day. The same routine. Stops aboard land and you don't know when they will end...

[Hida Musasha]

"This boat has been boring. I am used to havin' ta kill some horrible...thing...at least once every few days." He reaches over to touch his tetsubo, reassuring himself that it hasn't been stolen in the fog.

[Kakita Sugita]

"Tonight sir. You may get your chance."

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha looks at the Kakita, "What do you mean?"

[Kakita Sugita]

"Why haven't we left yet?" he asks randomly.

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha shrugs, "Th' Cap'n hasn't said we leave yet."

[Kakita Sugita]

"Rumor was we'd leave today. We're delayed. If one thing goes wrong..."

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha nods, "Could be any number o' things. Likely the Gaijin leader is throwin' a tantrum an' th' Cap'n is keepin' him calm."

[Kakita Sugita]

"I don't like that idea." Sugita says with a frown.

[Hida Musasha]

The big man stands up, placing his tetsubo on his shoulder, "Ain't like we ken help it. Spoiled asses need others ta wipe 'em."

[Kakita Sugita]

"Or whip 'em." Nod nod.

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha didn't seem to like the thought of a grown man being whipped by the Captain...

[Kakita Sugita]

A smug smirk plays across Sugita's face.

I had been holding my chin in thought the whole time but I decided to chip in "I for one would welcome some action. Words are important but our actions define our lives. One can say one thing and do another. One's actions show more truth". I recall a similar lesson from my sensei, perhaps smiling slightly at the face I am paraphrasing him.
