Exactly. I figured 3 tries at 90% was worth risking. Especially since it was only about a 10% chance in all that I'd roll low enough to fall on one of them. Failure rate was higher. It was the epic failure I was worried about.

Heard about someone dying from a goblin's thrown rock. 1k1 damage. Killed an earth 4 or 5 character who before the rock hit, hadn't even yet been touched.

Yup, damage rolls are exceptionally bad to have explode against you. Outliers in damage rolls are evil.
