[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"He will be turned over for questioning," the Captain replies flatly after a long pause, "Because that is what I would demand. I will do my best to ensure that he isn't harmed and pray that their situation is desperate enough that they won't risk my ire and refusal to help. I won't bother to lie, gentleman, we are balanced on a knife's edge and what Junpei-san did will likely be viewed as consorting with demons. If we deny them, we will be accused of doing the same and all of us, both the fleet and the Embassy will pay for it in blood. But that isn't the worst fate. I would sell all of you, if it means getting concrete information back to the Empire about this threat."

These decisions were never easy.

[Isawa O-Washi]

O-washi bowed his head in acknowledgement.

It was, in his thinking, fair.

Whatever Qian-Fan thought, he kept it to himself instead bowing his head to his superiors. He then kept his eyes down, mostly on the borrowed yukata.

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"If you have something to say, say it," he advises the Agasha, "I'd rather hear it now than you hot-heads planning a mutiny. Hell, some of the things Kaimenko-san has called me regarding my decisions isn't fit for polite society."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

"We are handing Junpei-san over to savages. I will never be happy with that, Yoritomo-sama."

He kept his eyes down still.

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"Who outnumber us more than two dozen to one," he replies quietly. Uminushi watches the young man with some compassion as he asks, "I named you my advisor. So advise me. Which will it be Agasha-san? The life of one man or lives of every Rokugani?"

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

"The information must reach the Empire. For that alone we must do as you say, but I will forever carry the burden in my mind of condemning a samurai to barbarian hands."

He fussed with the hem of the yukata.

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"Welcome to the Imperial Legion," was the man's blunt reply as he pushed off the bench to go pour himself another shot of shochu. "Anything else I ought to know about O-washi-san...?"
