[Day 5, Early Afternoon] Running Around Like... - CLOSED

[Isawa O-Washi]

"Or one of the Isawa would challenge him for such blasphemy and use the opportunity to burn him to so much ash."

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"And the sanctions you would place on that Clan until it was resolved...?"

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

"Sanctions? Testimony would be taken and actions based on that. Those that supported him would be banished or worse."

His hands were shaking again.

"Isawa-sama, he can't have meant to do this. He must have intended to try to help us here by finding out what he could."

[Isawa O-Washi]

"I'm sure that the Masters who opened the Scrolls in the Clan Wars meant to help too...that does not mean they didn't Fall to the ninth over it." O-washi's scowl was ferocious. "As for what would be done...I would presume they'd assign 'honor guards' to every member of the delegation, if they let them out of their quarters at all."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Qian-Fan bowed his head, accepting the inevitable.

"To avoid it, the only thing they could do would be to make a show of purging their own delegation before the Inquisitors could intervene."

He closed his eyes.

"By executing the corruptor."

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"... lovely," he mutters and scrubs his face with his hands, "Alright, so. They're going to want him in their custody at the least, though I doubt they're that kind."

Uminushi leans forward, his elbows resting on his knees, "Done is done. Now, do I want to know the information he managed to gain or do I want to remain ignorant until the Maharaja does whatever it is he's going to do. Doji's tits, I hate politics. Thoughts?"

[Isawa O-Washi]

"They might not know what he's done. The magnitude of it, I mean. From what little I've observed, they don't use the kami like we do. It could make our path easier."

The big gunso sighed and rubbed his temples.

"I'm useless for politics, you know that. I can only say that most knowledge is worth having, though obviously Junpei's proved there's a line."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

"Is it safe to call on the kami for anything anymore? Or did Junpei-san perform something truly blasphemous?"

[Isawa O-Washi]

"I haven't tried it, but the mizu-kami here were quite stirred up, afraid of the storm..to me, that means at least the ones here are pure. I certainly wouldn't near the tower he was on, though distance should help. If we had the Jade to spare I'd say we test to see if it turns, that's usually a good way to tell."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

"I have no Jade but I know the battle prayer, not that it is a polite or subtle method of such a test."

He blinks, pulling his hands away from his satchel.

"As for politics. I am no courtier and I would advise against the Toritaka as he seems to have a singular agenda. Do we have any more courtiers on board? The Ikoma princeling perhaps?"

A silent inward curse as he realises he's started using the nicknames as well now.

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"Mm, there's a thought," he mutters to himself, "Though he's shown all the personality of a limpet. I find it hard to trust a courtier who doesn't have friends."

[Isawa O-Washi]

O-washi considered the crew carefully. 'Mmm. There's also that Kitsuki...or one of the Bayushi. They train their warriors to be at least able to swim in a court, even if not well."

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

The Captain gives a humorless chuckle, "Aye. We'll need them soon and I think I'll do well with another drink."

He rubs the back of his neck, blue eyes moving to the three incongruous objects on display. "O-washi-san... I don't want to know yet what Junpei-san discovered... for all our sakes." There was subtle emphasis to the words that the big man might pick up.

"Also, did either of you notice, despite the weather, that there are a few more guards on the port...?"

[Isawa O-Washi]

"Yes."

O-washi bowed his head in response to his Captain's order, even as he poured another round.

"It makes me wonder what they got out of poor Mirumoto-san...and how."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Yet more surprise and shock for Qian-Fan.

"Mirumoto-san?"

[Isawa O-Washi]

"She was, apparently, the bushi that any group venturing out into Lanka must have." O-washi's fists clenched again. "He simply...left her. With known hostiles."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

"Itsuha-san or the one I saw walking around on her own yesterday?"

He blinked as he tried to recall the name.

"Tomoe-san I think."

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"Well, crap on a stick," he mutters.

[Isawa O-Washi]

"Tomoe, that'd be it. The one off the other ship."

His eyes closed in a moment of additional dread.

"If anything happened to her, Daidoji-chui will flay the lot of us or as good as. She's very protective of her people."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

"What will happen to Junpei-san?"

He brought them back to the original topic.
