In the Garden of Heaven and Hell (Day 4, Afternoon)

"Alright," he nods a few times and looks up at the woman. There's a rapid fire exchange which ends with the boy giving her puppy-eyes and the woman laughing. She reaches down and pats his head before moving off to get their food. Daisuke looks rather pleased with himself.

It wasn't long before a jug of what could best be described as mead is set on the table with tall clay tumblers. A finger bowl with a brass plate rolled towels was also placed on the table and quickly followed by another with a half dozen pyaz ki kachori laid out on it.

"It doesn't have meat, just onions," the boy explains as he demonstrates how to wash his fingers. He even cleans beneath his fingernails. "Umm... also err... don't eat with your left hand since that's kinda bad, though you can serve yourself with that hand."

Musasha listens and washes up before grabbing a stuffed roll and following directions, eats it with his right hand. "Hmm, sweet wit' a bite." He drinks a bit of the mead, and makes a sour face at the sweetness of the draught. Looking at the boy, "is everythin' here sweet? I like a wee sweet, but if everythin' is sweet, it loses th' effect."

Daisuke blinks a bit and shakes his head, "Nnnnoooo..."

He nods, and watches the Ichiro taste hers.

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

Yakusoku nods at Daisuke before first trying out the mead. It was certainly a bit sweeter than she'd expected. Or perhaps it was that it had a bit less of a bite so the sweetness was more noticeable. Taking up the food in her right hand next she tests it with a small bite before actually beginning to eat. "It ain't 'alf bad," she murmurs glancing at the boy with apparent approval before turning her attention to Musasha. "The drink is a bit much though, isn't it? Ain't nothin' like sweet sake."

He nods, "This is somewhere approachin' th' limits of what I ken stomach." He begins to eat heartily of the sweet onion stuffed rolls, hoping the next dish was something sour or bitter.

The next dish... or to be more accurate, the next several dishes that appeared were small and brilliantly colored. Most of it looks vegetarian, though there were a few (hopefully) chicken and fish dishes as well. There were daal, chana masala, samosas, aloo gobi as well as chicken in a spicy korma sauce, fried fish, fried fish in sauce, fish steamed in a banana leaf, and all of it spiced and some even spiced to burn.

A few condiments also appeared; pickled vegetables mostly though they looked spiced as well. A large mixed basket of naan and paratha was set to the side.

Once more the boy demonstrates what to do, making the task of eating with one's hands look simple. Daisuke, at least, seems to be enjoying himself.

Hida Musasha follows suit, enjoying being able to eat to his contentment. Eating with his hands is a little gross, but the food was good, filling, and nutritious. He flashed a pleased look at his shipmate as he washed a mouthful down with the mead.

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

"Nice to have a real meal for a change, eh?" she meets the glance and grins, eating slowly but fully. Eating with her hands was indeed a bit off-putting, but what were you gonna do when the alternative was not eating this food? "Wonder if we can bring some aboard when we go," she jests, though the thought did have a certain appeal to it...

"So... so... are you going to stay for a while?" Daisuke asks, looking between the two with obvious excitement at the idea.

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

"We may just do that," Yakusoku shrugs, smiling at Daisuke then glancing at Musasha. Wasn't their choice so for now a vague, non-committal reply seemed the way to go. After all, the ship was ready to leave fast if need be. Pouring herself another glass of mead the Badger casts a quick glance over the crowd, lingering nowhere in particular. This place is supposed to be trouble, huh? Will have to keep that in mind.

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha nods, "A few days is th' plan, but th' life of a legionnaire is one tha' ken change course quickly." He agreed with the non-committal words, and kept eating like a starving beast.

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

Yakusoku nods in agreement, also quite focused on the real meal laid out before them. "Hida-san, do ya know where they're puttin' us up for the evenin'? I was figurin' the Embassy but I didn't give it much of a look." She asks the question a bit softer than the others, hoping to keep such conversation at their table amongst savages who weren't above eavesdropping.

[Hida Musasha]

He shrugs causing his armor to heave up and down, a swell upon an ocean. "Prob'ly the buildin' tha' looked sorta like a barracks. Could be wrong, though." He looks up from the food to take in the face of his companion, then goes back to eating.

A few sidelong glances were thrown their way, but when it looks like they were more interested in their food than their surroundings the other patrons start to ignore them. Daisuke, however, was all bright curiosity.

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

The gaijins' choice to ignore them suited Yakusoku just fine. "Hopin' that's the case. Could use an evenin' off the hammock. Once we sail our again, I may have to start sleepin' on deck on those nice evenins."

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha chuckles, "I always sleep well. Can't explain it. Lay my head down, 'n' I'm off ta dreams of paradise. Never even had a bad dream."

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

"Oh I sleep fine," she shrugs. "But after awhile on the hammock I start wakin' up sore. A night on a futon or even a tatami mat once in awhile does me well."

[Hida Musasha]

Taking another bite of the food, cleaning his plate as he does, "can't blame ya fer na sleepin' on deck th' last week. Wet er dangerous in turns makes fer bad sleepin'."

[Ichiro Yakusoku]

"Aye," the Badger nods in agreement. "But hopefully tonight'll gimme a good evenin's sleep and I'll wake up without an achin' back. That is, if the sounds of this here city don't carry on through the evenin'."
