Day 3, Late Evening/Midnight, OPEN, Cleaning and more sake?

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Shiba Nozomi....of the eggplant? No, she probably means the vassal family. Nobuyoshi ponders, then returns to the topic at hand, gaijin.

"I'm not certain how much chicanery I can pick out, Shiba-san." Nobuyoshi offers. "Well, if they're Rokugani, perhaps. But how do you tell if a gaijin is lying to you if the lies have to be translated to you? The lies would be filtered through the person doing the translating, and they could unintentionally put their own slant on things."

A small smile behind the mask.

"At least when one of us communicates something that another one of us said, you have our honor to back up what we said they said." he offers.

[Shiba Nozomi]

Considering Scorpion honor was rarely to be trusted with any great regularity, Nozomi simply replies,"You have a p-point, Bayushi-san..."

Suddenly remembering something of pertinence, the small woman turns to the Mantis, eyes aglow,"Yoritomo-san... I s-spoke with Supaisu yesterday, and sh-she said she'd be willing to l-let us come in sometime after bu-breakfast to use the kitchen. It was m-mentioned that meals other than breakfast c-could possibly use more assistants, as w-well..."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

As he had each night, Qian-Fan had spent it in his bunk studying his scrolls until even he had to admit the light wasn't good enough to read by. Tonight he furled up the last scroll with a smile, deposited it back in his satchel and slipped out of his bunk. He wore a light yutaka and his hair had escaped his deck braid at last to flow over his shoulders as he padded across to join the others and be sociable for once.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Letting the little Shiba and the Mantis discuss cooking, Nobuyoshi gives the Agasha a bow.

"Good evening, Agasha-san." Nobuyoshi offers, in his usual manner of polite, but not too warm. "I'd wondered when we might have a chance to speak again. Please join us."

"You are acquainted with Shiba Nozomi and Yoritomo Kaito?"

[Shiba Nozomi]

The appearance of the other Phoenix seems to please Nozomi, and she tucks the book away entirely. "Agasaha-san, w-welcome."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Qian-Fan returned the bow.

"Bayushi-san, minna-san, good evening. I may not have already spoken to all, but on a ship it is hard to not be aware of those on it."

He nodded to the Shiba and Yoritomo before taking a seat beside Nozomi. The diminutive Shiba making Qian-Fan look tall and imposing for probably the first time ever in his life.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi nods.

"True, though time and battle station can certainly make it seem like some are farther away than others." Nobuyoshi offers. "I at least see you at the shift change on aft deck, and when I practice in the morning, but Bayushi Kichirou's assignment to below decks make it seem like he's on a different ship entirely."

Nobuyoshi shrugs.

"How has your morning assignment to aft deck been?" he asks.

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

"Enlightening. I had expected to be assigned to the sick bay as it was my medical skills that gained this appointment to the Legion. I must assume we have an abundance of healers and few battle trained priests."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi nods.

"Perhaps, Agasha-san. It also makes sense to have some people with medical skills on the decks, rather than below them. In the heat of battle, sick bay may as well be back in the capital. Someone who can stand people back up AND can help in the thickest of the fighting is definitely an asset to have along. " Nobuyoshi offers.

"Not that you joined the Legion to seek glory, but I would have thought you'd be pleased to be assigned somewhere you can bring your full talents to bear, and easily be recognized for them."

[Shiba Nozomi]

"H-have you seen combat b-before, Agasha-san?" Nozomi asks softly. She doesn't wish to ignore the Yoritomo with the new arrival but his player isn't currently posting, so assume this happens amidst whatever conversation they have to preserve continuity.

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Kaito bowed politely as the other phoenix entered and lost in thought for a few moments almost missed the smaller one's comment. "Sometimes after breakfast Shiba-san. I'll have to see about taking the morning off for it then which shouldn't be much of a problem." He said scratching his chin for a moment. "Late Morning might be a good time for it give me a chance to go out fishing before hand so we don't waste the Kitchens supplies."

[Shiba Nozomi]

"I c-can try my hand at c-catching someth-thing for us to practice on, as w-well, if you'd like..." She looks down shyly at her hands, which are fidgeting with the edge of her robes. Nozomi didn't want to make a pest of herself, and the Mantis was entirely within his rights to refuse, but the whole thing sounded like fun.

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Qian-Fan nodded, smile fading for a moment.

"At Toshi Ranbo and during the War against the northern barbarians."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"Sure Shiba-san the more the merrier after all. If I didn't have any company I'd be forced to talk to the fishies after all." The mantis said with a grin.

[Shiba Nozomi]

Nozomi nods solemnly at the Agasha's statement. It understandably seemed to be an experience he'd rather not discuss, and she wasn't one to push it.

To the Yoritomo, though, she gives a wonderfully childlike smile."Always b-be suspicious of the f-fish that begin t-to talk back, Y-yoritomo-san..."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"I'll be sure to Shiba-san." His voice somewhat grave before his lips split into a smile. "It would be somewhat embarrassing after all if he turned out to be a great conversationalist."

[Shiba Nozomi]

"There's m-more than one story about such aquatic c-conversationalists, isn't there? And th-then there's the Nu-Ningyo..." Her expression turns thoughtful.

[Yoritomo Kaito]

The mantis nodded slightly at that his hands still busy polishing the various weapons. "I've heard more then one of em too, just about every old sailor I've met has had a tale about. Never met any myself but I guess if I am on the sea long enough I will. Or at least I'll have a story about it."

[Shiba Nozomi]

"M-maybe, if you're l-lucky, Yoritomo-san... the su-stories always say they're eerily b-beautiful..." Nozomi speaks about them quietly, with a tinge of awestruck respect in her voice.

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Kaito nodded his hands still busy with the task of polishing his weapons. "I had heard much the same Shiba-san." A bit of a smiel creeping into his voice. "There is no way to be certain thought without seeing one with your own eyes. Have you ever met someone that has seen one?"
