Day 3, Late Evening/Midnight, OPEN, Cleaning and more sake?

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi once more brought out armor, arms and polish to the crew common room having gotten off duty. He also brings his flat saucer like sake cup out as well, since people seem to be of a mind to drink after shift. With the announcement fresh in people's minds, there may well be people joining him to discuss it or relax. And if not, there was more cleaning to do.

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Kaito steps into the common area a few moments later a handful of weapons about his person and polishing supplies in his hands. Bowing politely to the scorpion he moves to take a seat nearby. "Mind if I join ya Bayushi-san?"

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi rises and bows to the Mantis.

"Not at all, Yoritomo-san." Nobuyoshi offers. "There's much more room here to work on such things than the armory, and more interesting people to talk to as well."

Nobuyoshi returns to his seat, picking up a small joint of armor to work on.

"Lots to talk about as well, with the announcement and all."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Kaito nodded and took his seat he hadn't heard a word the scorpion had said but figured that he had invited him to join him and had followed it up by rambling on in the manor scorpion seemed to like. Still though he figured he should just listen closer next time and tried to politely continue the conversation. "Has the day found you well then Bayushi-san?"

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

My, my, another samurai hard of hearing? Nobuyoshi wonders. What have they been doing to be so afflicted?

Nobuyoshi shrugs.

"Breakfast, training, duty....and the announcement that we're heading to a gaijin port." Nobuyoshi offers, slightly louder for the poor Mantis. "So, an almost, if not quite normal day."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Kaito nodded happy that the man had spoken up which meant the scorpion wasn't likely scared of him or overly shy. Proper men didn't go about whispering anyways. "Knew about the port already the announcement I reckin was the capn telling us to keep our eyes peeled. Being as there seems to be trouble in the Ivory kingdoms and all we likely should take extra caution when we arrive at port, especially since the ships that wrecked the lot we saw yesterday may be on their way there."

[Shiba Nozomi]

Having grabbed her favorite (and only) pillowbook, the little Shiba makes her way to the communal area of the Crew Quarters. She holds the book between her lips for a moment as she ties back the sleeves of her plain grey robe that she usually sleeps in.

Upon noticing the other two samurai, she bows, hands still busy with the tie.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi bows to the Phoenix, and indicates an empty place to sit, should she so desire with a graceful motion of the head.

Nobuyoshi shrugs at the Mantis's information.

"I'm not certain how effective most of the crew will be in finding out information in an Ivory Kingdom port." Nobuyoshi offers. "Heimen tend to turn skittish and distrustful of outsiders when danger's about. I can't imagine gaijin being more helpful, especially to those who don't speak their language."

[Shiba Nozomi]

If she'd been imposing, she reasons, he wouldn't have offered her a seat. Nozomi slides into the place suggested by the Scorpion and murmurs, "A-Arigato, Bayushi-san."

She coughs lightly and places her book in her lap. Timidly, she asks,"Would it b-be inappropriate f-for me to add a th-thought?"

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Kaito bowed a polite greeting to the young woman as he removed all the various weapons (4 kama and a parangu) from his person and set them before him picking one out to start polishing. "I don't mind Shiba-san." He replies glancing over at the scorpion.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

"Of course, Shiba-san." Nobuyoshi offers. "Even if it's an inappropriate thought, at least it's better than listening to the Cranes snoring."

Nobuyoshi finishes the bit of armor he's on, and takes another piece to work on.

[Shiba Nozomi]

"W-well..." she begins slowly,"If it's a p-port, it's a center for trade, neh? Th-they expect p-people to be c-coming through..."

"I'd also l-like to point out that it's r-rare to meet an unfriendly K-k-kasuga..." Creepy, slimy, pirate, smuggler... all these could easily be used to describe Kasuga. Unfriendly usually wasn't part of that list, though.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi frowns behind his mask, perhaps at the rust, perhaps at a thought.

"Perhaps, Shiba-san." Nobuyoshi offers. "However, I don't particularly enjoy the idea of having someone speak on my behalf to a gaijin. Who could tell if he was telling the gaijin in the gaijin's tongue 'Why yes, I'll take two small chests of jewels, and you can have the small one in orange and red to be your sixth wife' while telling you 'So, he's agreed to guide you where you want to go, just follow him'? "

[Yoritomo Kaito]

The mantis continued to polish the kama in his hand waiting for the girl to respond. Isn't he a bit paranoid, though now that I think about it that could explain the whispering. Still though he does kind of have a point Thought Kaito as the scorpion spoke his eyes moving from the man to the young lady a moment later. Don't think I'd pay two small chests of jewels for her though.

[Shiba Nozomi]

She gives him an indecipherable look and inquires gently,"Are you s-suggesting, Bayushi-san, th-that those aboard this sh-ship with the ability t-to speak wh-whatever barbaric language it is th-that these gaijin s-speak, are such d-dishonorable souls that they w-would s-s-sell you off as a wife?"

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi shakes his head.

"Of course not, Shiba-san, that would be utterly ridiculous." he replies, his voice flat and emotionless as ever. "From your description, it sounded like you were talking about going into port and meeting up with some nameless Kasuga. Someone who had forgotten what it meant to be a samurai, and just wallowed in material pleasure."

Nobuyoshi pauses, considering a particular piece of his armor.

"That being said, there are some on this crew who I can envision engaging in a bit of humor. Advising someone to wear a garment that is meant for the opposite gender in gaijin culture, or getting you to eat something that burns the tongue like lava. " Nobuyoshi offers. "Not particularly honest or courteous actions, but well.....things are different out here on the sea, and we'll be well outside the borders of the Empire proper. "

[Shiba Nozomi]

Pale eyes follow the movements of his hands before flicking up towards his face. The smile she gives him is small and unassuming,"W-well, it's a g-good thing we've got a m-mind like yours along to h-help keep an eye out for such chi-chicanery. I'll admit those su-sorts of thought n-never really occurred to m-me."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Kaito glanced over at the Bayushi again. The man had seemingly just casually insulted an entire minor clan as well as any samurai who spent a great deal of time away from the empire. Shuffling away those thoughts for later he looked back at the Shiba. "I don't think we have all that many that know the tongue anyways so I don't know if it will really even come up."

He said as he turned back towards the scorpion. "Come to think of it Bayushi-san I don't think we have had chance to be properly Introduced. I'm Yoritomo Kaito."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

What is it with people out here 'remembering' their manners about halfway through a conversation out here? I don't really care if you wanna have all the charm and grace of a ronin, but do you have to call attention to it? Actually, a ronin might at least have enough manners to properly introduce to his betters. Nobuyoshi wonders.

Despite the venomous thoughts, Nobuyoshi puts down his cleaning supplies, and offers a proper bow to both samurai in attendance. "I am Bayushi Nobuyoshi." he states simply.

[Shiba Nozomi]

Nozomi is under the impression she'd already introduced herself to the other two, and is absolutely certain the Mantis already knows her name. A gentle bob of her head towards the Bayushi and she adds, just in case, "Shiba Nozomi, o-of the Nasu."
