[Day 2, Evening] - Once more, enjoy the night

[Kaiu Seiko]

Seiko made her way back up to the Crow's Nest. She loved this time of day more than anything else. There was something... soothing about it.

Especially at when at sea.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

The sound of the rope stressing announce that there would be another making their way up to join Seiko up the Crow's nest. She didn't remain a mystery for long when Hoshi popped her head up to see Seiko had already claimed the spot sometime before. Hm, oh. So much for this place being private. "Good evening Kaiu-san." She gave her a small nod as she climbed the rest of the way, it was the best she could do for a bow in this situation. "I hope I'm not disturbing you."

[Kaiu Seiko]

"Only if you plan on drowning out the sounds of the sea and muffling the feel of the wind on my face," Seiko replied, giving a polite nod back. She was grinning a bit as she glanced towards the Scorpion. "Is the evening good for you, Bayushi-san?"

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Iie. I doubt I could do that even if I intentionally strived to be an annoyance." Hoshi gave another nod of approval and settled down to a seat at the nest. "The evening has been better to me than the day...even if I doubt the world stops with the night."

She let out a small breath on that note and turned a glance to Seiko. "I don't think I introduced myself at the Galley, this one is Bayushi Hoshi, formerly of Ryoko Owari Toshi."

[Kaiu Seiko]

"I... don't recall if I properly introduced myself either," Seiko replied, then gave a return bow. "Kaiu Seiko, formerly of the Crab turtleboat Thunder of Osano-Wo."

She looked back over the water, smiled, then glanced over at Hoshi.

"So what brought you to this?"

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Mm. A turtleboat? I have heard of those, they never make it up the river." She nodded at the mention of her assignment. "Are you talking about tonight, or here?"

[Kaiu Seiko]

Seiko paused before answering.

"Either one you feel more comfortable answering. Or both, if you wish."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

“Neither are great secrets Kaiu-san, I’m willing to share both. Serving in the Imperial Legion is a distinguished service to the Empire, being able to serve alongside with so many samurai on one goal. The glory was attractive hai...the duty was prized. It was a good personal choice.” Hoshi smiled for a moment.

“That brings me here ne? I’m here to find a place to best enjoy the view. I couldn’t take enough of it by just being down there. It's as high as I can go without being Isawa-san.”

[Kaiu Seiko]

Seiko smiled at Hoshi's comment about the flying Phoenix.

"Ah, hai. That is one treat we are missing." She shrugged. "Still, I find that my time here is well-enough spent that I don't need to want to fly."

The Kaiu turned her attention back to the sea. She was quiet for a bit.

"The only thing missing is a nice, little storm."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi shook her head with good spirits, "I don't have any desire to wish for that talent either Kaiu-san. I think life is fine enough on your feet..Do you often get storms that are both nice and little?"

[Kaiu Seiko]

"Oh, hai," replied Seiko with a grin that hinted that she might not be all together there. "But it really depends on your definition of 'nice' and 'little', doesn't it?"

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"For one living inland, nice little storms would just a good downpour that knows when it knows it overstays its welcome. Otherwise, that's when you start worrying about floods if you're close to water. At...sea, I know it gets much more intense even for a simple rain."

She let out a small breath. "I don't think that Osano-Wo would allow just simple rain to be considered a storm in this domain..."

[Kaiu Seiko]

"That's part of the fun," Seiko grinned. "What is little on land is... something else... at sea."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi shoot a curious look at Seiko. "...And are you going to be up here when the Half Moon meets the fury of the skies?"

[Kaiu Seiko]

Seiko grinned a little wider, then paused, her smile fading. She sighed.

"If my duties allow it. After all, I cannot simply abandon my post just because Osano-Wo might wish to impress us with a display of his might."

The Kaiu looked almost wistfully out to sea again. For a while, she was quiet, lost in her thoughts. Then she shook her head.

"Gomen, Bayushi-san. I did not mean to get lost in my own thoughts there."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"If you truly wanted to experience his...display so directly, you could always consider taking up someone's shift. It seems to be the trend around here. There's already a cue forming for the hours of my shfit." Are people lacking in work?

She waved with a hand to dismiss the apology. "Iie. It's fine Kaiu-san. No harm in succumbing to a distraction sometimes. I hope it was a good one?"

[Kaiu Seiko]

Seiko looked at Hoshi a little quizzically.

"I... must have missed that. I have no one begging to take my hours, and I have morning shift, nor do I see anyone begging for afternoon shift."

She paused, thinking.

"Well, it is possible. I am in the cargo hold, working away on the ballista bolts. It would make sense for things to happen all around me, and I not notice." Her fingers rubbed the edge of the Crow's Nest absent-mindedly. "But even if I were to change shifts, it would be on short notice. I... am not familiar enough to know how people would feel about that, especially about my shift or doing such a favor for me."

Seiko considered what Hoshi said about her daydreaming, but decided to file that away and not reply to that. At least, not yet.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi frowned internally. "Gomen...Your area is rather specialized when it comes to responsibilities Kaiu-san, it would be hard to exchange shifts with you even if one wanted to. It must be just a topside trend, we're lucky to get the most air. I hope most don't think it means a shortage of work though." She shook her head to drop the topic for now.

[Kaiu Seiko]

Seiko smiled, letting a little sadness into her expression, although it was mostly feigned.

"Specialized? Bayushi-san, I've been doing nothing but ballista bolt repair work for two days now. My specialty is ship-building."

She sighed, obviously a little disappointed, but just as obviously playing up her disappointment.

"Well, it is good that some of you are getting fresh air."

Once more, the sea took the Kaiu's attention for a bit, and the Crab seemed content to just look out over dark waters and let the sights and sounds relax her.

"If I may ask... what do you plan to get out of joining the Ninth Legion? I mean, you said why you are here, but afterwards..." Seiko turned to look at Hoshi. "What then?"

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"One can be specialized in two things but I assumed much, gomen Kaiu-san." Hoshi straightened one hand in a quick apologetic gesture. "There are sometimes duties one must fulfill beyond their liking ne?"

Her brows raised at the question and that emitted a short quiet laugh from her. "I didn't know you cared enough about me already to want to know what my future has in store for me, Fortunes willing..."
