Day 2, Early AM - Back to work

[Kaiu Seiko]

Seiko arrived in the cargo hold after finishing her breakfast. She spared no time talking to anyone, instead making a beeline for the ballista bolts she had been working on yesterday.

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

Though he is not yet on duty, Choukichi heads belowdecks to see if there is any work he can help with. Not confident that his limited skills will allow him to impress anyone, or even get all his work done properly during his shift, getting a bit of extra work done during his free time seems like a good idea. Unsure where to start, he heads towards the other samurai present and offers a polite bow as he gets close.

[Kaiu Seiko]

So absorbed in her work, Seiko does not immediately notice the bowing samurai. Then she blinks, stands, turns, and offers Choukichi a bow of her own, a bit lower than his own.

"My apologizes, Yoritomo-sama. I was putting the finishing touches to this repair job."

She gestured to the ballista bolt in question, letting the Mantis decide for himself just how far along and how well a job the Kaiu had been doing.

"Is there something with which I might assist you?"

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

"No apologies necesssary, i'm the one interuping your work afterall... And I wished to pose the same question to you, is there anything I might be able to assist with? I have not spent much time working below decks before, so my assignment to craftsman and ships maintenance has me a bit unsure of myself. I know a bit about ship building, and have a bit more skill in wood carving, but hope that I can learn more by assisting the ships other craftsman."

Choukichi waves away her apology, and seems genuine in his wish to help her if she could use some.

[Kaiu Seiko]

Seiko paused to consider his words.

"What I am doing is a one-person job," she admitted. "But there are other ballista bolts available that need fixing. Have you ever done work on them before?"

She gestures to the other ballista bolts sitting around in need of repair. Including the one the Kaiu had almost finished, there were six in total.

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

"I received instruction on how to do so during my time at the dojo, but I can not say I have ever had the opportunity to put that knowledge to the test since then. I should be able to manage repairing a ballista bolt..."

Choukichi looks at the bolts a bit uncertainly, then nods his head.

[Kaiu Seiko]

Seiko nodded.

"Well, this one took me all of my first shift, and I still had a few tweaks to make this morning," she said, noting the ballista she had been working on again. "So if you want to help out, I suggest taking one of the ballista bolts and making it your personal project. I didn't spend as much time as others working on ballista construction and repair, but if you want my input, I would be happy to do so."

She smiled.

"Although I should add, I definitely have no problem with someone keeping me company while I work."

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

Choukichi nods his head and offers a friendly smile.

"Hmmm, then maybe I will stay here and keep you company a bit while you work, so that I can observe for a bit to see how it is done again, before starting myself?"

[Kaiu Seiko]

Her smile became a little warmer.

"Well, get yourself some tools, come over here, and take a seat! I'm not much for teaching, but if you see me work, hopefully you'll pick it up!"

She paused as she realized how that sounded.

"That... is... of course, if you need any pointers..."

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

Choukichi takes no offense, well aware of his limited skills. He moves off quickly to collect some tools then takes a seat nearby.

"Yoritomo Choukichi, a pleasure to meet you Kaiu-san."

[Kaiu Seiko]

"The honor is mine, Yoritomo-san. This one is Kaiu Seiko."

She smiled... and then went to work on her ballista bolt again, almost ignoring him just like that.
