[Mid-Morning, Open] What am I Meant to do with This?

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Now suitably grabbed, Fuichi cocks his head. "And then one just holds them?"

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko shakes her head. "Not at all. I could pull out mah parangu and start shovin' it in yer stomach if we stuck like this. Go ahead and find some area teh grab."

[Akodo Jishaku]

To his credit Jishaku manages not to laugh at the scene before him. Of course he'd been trained by a few Matsu in his time... "Nice technique Yasuki-san."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi was in a quandary. The 'grab an arm' bit was pretty easy. He was good for that. The 'grab some clothes' bit was going to be a challenge. Finally, after a prolonged inward sigh, he grabbed an arm and the chest wraps, making sure to keep his expression as clinical as possible.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko, for her part, didn't really seem to pay attention to where exactly she was being grabbed. The training was far more important. "Alright, now, this throw is pretty basic. First thing ye've gotta know about Jiujutsu is that strength is not a gigantic part o' gettin someone on the ground. The key is to throw off their center o' balance, then force 'em the rest of the way. This one is a sweep, and it goes basically like this..." She begins explaining the work behind the throw, showing the motions without actually slamming him on the ground. "Now, fer repetition sake, yer gonna practice the main steps without actually slammin' me on the ground. Don't much like the idea of gettin' slammed into the deck a hundred times."

[Akodo Jishaku]

Doesn't seem so bad to me. Hmm, probably best not to say that either. "I'm at your service if you need another body Yasuki-san. I'll be over there with my bokken." As she wrestles with the Crane he moves back over to pick up his bokken and begins some more serious weapons training.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi did as he was told, managing not to drop the Yasuki even once! The sweeping thing seemed to be good for him, particularly since he had no real strength to speak of.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko smiles at the progress the Daidoji has been making, nodding a bit. "Good, yer doin' well. Now finish the job, get me to the ground."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi throws everything he has into the sweep and sudden shift in force, hoping to drop the Yasuki to the deck. He cast aside his fears and trip/shoved, trying to use the Yasuki's superior mass against her, however unlikely that result might seem.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko likely could have held her ground with relative ease. However, as this was a teaching lesson, she held her ground only enough to make sure that Fuichi had to work to break her balance and sweep her to the ground. As she hits the ground, she slaps the hard wood with as much force as she can.

There is a grin on her face. "Good job, Daidoji-san. Wasn't bad fer a pampered shugenja." She, of course, would not notice that her chest wraps were now loose from the exercise, but she seemed content to sit on the ground and be proud of the Daidoji's progress.

[Akodo Jishaku]

Jishaku finishes a series of precise kata before returning to the grappling lesson. "Did you ever think you would wrestle a Crab to the ground Daidoji-san?" He grins at the pair of them. "If you can grapple an opponent then you can render their large weapons ineffectual, and hopefully hold them until your shipmates arrive." He gives Himiko a light bow. "I'd say your first lesson has gone rather well."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi was also not one to notice loose chest wraps. If he hadn't been the cause, he wouldn't have been aware in the slightest. "It is a novel experience, Akodo-san, but I suspect that my aptitude would be challenged in a hostile encounter."

[Yasuki Himiko]

"Perhaps," Himiko chimes in, but we ain't expectin' ya to be able to throw people around after five minutes o' trainin'. This'll take time, but if yer determined, ye'll be fine." She began to stand up before noticing her wraps starting to come loose. "Huh..." after staring at it for a moment, she started tightening the loose wraps, doing what she could to make sure that she wouldn't scandalize her sparring partners more than her dress already did.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi prudently turns to face the Akodo as she does so. No use ticking off the sensei.

"I understand, Yasuki-san. Truthfully, I suspect that if the time comes that I am in melee combat, that the ship will be in much bigger trouble than my distracting a single opponent could help. However, I will not be a disappointment to my sensei, even if they have only been so for five minutes."

[Akodo Jishaku]

Jishaku's peripheral vision is mildly scandalised as he focuses on the Crane against the protests of many loud ancestors demanding some more decendants to harass. "Naval combat can be a messy affair Daidoji-san. Getting involved in a boarding action doesn't necessitate that we be in trouble. I think you will be better served distracting an enemy in a grapple than by standing around looking like an easy target."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi frowned. "I would hardly be standing around, Akodo-san. The air can be a useful ally, particularly at sea, and I am no stranger to defensive applications to most of my prayers."

[Yasuki Himiko]

Successful adjustment complete, Himiko hops up, a wide grin on her face. "I'm sure the air kami are more than glad te help us out, Daidoji-san, but bad shit can happen te yer scrolls. Best te be prepared."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

That was new information. "What sort of bad shi...things?"

[Yasuki Himiko]

"Burnin' arrow, droppin' em while rushin' te get te the next location, sea water gets in the scroll case, tentacle monster. 's the same reason why my daisho stays safe below deck."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

All of those were pretty bad. "I see. I might have to..." That's it! Wood copies. Probably make the Earth kami pleased with him as well. Score.

"I am...curious about this tentacle monster. I believe Iuchi-san mentioned it during one of the training sessions. I have lived in Samui Kaze Toshi and Shinden Asahina most of my life, both of which are either on or very near the sea. I have never heard of a tentacle monster, other than maybe a squid. They're mostly squishy, though."
