Gotta get it done right (Moon 12, Early Morning, Armory)

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha sits in his new uniform, oiling his hauberk and tending to the leather straps with great care. His attention to detail applying the shine to it far surpassing simple understanding of the necessary job, he quite frankly enjoyed it.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Daidoji Fuichi wanders into the armory to check on his wakizashi. He tended to feel naked without it, but orders are orders. As he steps in, he catches sight of the enormous Crab. Enormous...Crab. Synonymous?

"Oh, good morning," he says with a short bow. "I'm Daidoji Fuichi of Shinden Asahina. It is a pleasure to meet you..."

[Hida Musasha]

The Crab half-bows, not being in any position to do so properly, "Oi."

It takes him a moment to remember the rules... "Erm... Yeah, Hida Musasha..." He looks confused trying to think of a title that matches the one given. "Erm...of the Jade Fortress. Er, was of the Jade Fortress." He stops oiling for a moment going over what he said, then nodding in satisfaction, he goes back to his armor.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Wow. Uhhhh....

"The Jade Fortress would be another ship, then? I grew up around sailing vessels, but this is my first time serving on one."

[Hida Musasha]

He nods, "Turtle ship. Fought His (Fu Leng)," Musasha makes a warding gesture, "minions on the sea."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi nods.
"Ah, I see." He trails off, letting the silence linger. "My brother Kotetsu served on the Wall for a time..." Another pause. "Do you suppose we'll encounter some of those...things on the way to the Kingdoms?"

[Hida Musasha]

He nods, "It's very possible as we're cuttin' thru th' Sea o' Shadow today. Keep yerself alert fer anythin' weird, even in th' other crewmen. This'd be when they'd go off th' rail hearin' voices in their head they ain't learned ta ignore yet."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi's eyes widened considerably. "We're what?!" Then, with the practiced care that only a cloistered shugenja can achieve, he composed himself. "Ah, I'll be certain to watch out for the others, then."

[Hida Musasha]

The Hida doesn't radiate anything but confidence, "There are three Crab on board. Jus' back us up, an' even the worst possible outcome is a bit o' stitchin' wi' some jade needles."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi smiled and nodded. "It is good to hear that there are so many battle-ready sailors on board. For a while it seemed as though I were running into Iuchi after Iuchi. Not that they're incapable, of course, just not what I am used to in sailors."

[Hida Musasha]

He grunts, "Plenty of green landsharks, as well, but don' ya worry, th' officers are obviously a competent lot." The sheen on his armor shows that he is putting way more on than one would ever expect.

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi nodded. "Obviously." A long breath. "Moshi-sama is certainly...direct, isn't she?"

[Hida Musasha]

The big man shrugs, "Dunno about direct, but she'll make a lucky man outta th' one she marries. She's got birthin' hips, an' her children will be strong and willful."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi's eyes widened considerably. He couldn't seriously have just said that. "Ah, but wouldn't the home life be rather intolerable? I can't imagine..."

Maybe all Crab women are that way and he doesn't know better?

[Hida Musasha]

He shrugs, "No samurai spends much time at home, right? An' comin' home ta a woman that'll be all work ain't so bad. Havin' a powerful son er daughter is worth th' headache, doncha think? I think she'd suit almost any man when it comes ta gettin' duty done."

He flips his hauberk over to get to the other side, "She's tryin' ta get us ta understand we ain't got a lotta room fer error. Listen to her, she's right. Ya fall in th' drink an' no one notices, yer gonna have ta make yer way ta shore under yer own power. Most men'll drown o' exhaustion long afore they git ta shore."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi pales slightly at the idea of being 'all work' with Moshi Kameinko. "Father was always much the same way; I simply never expected it from a priestess. It takes all kinds, I suppose."

[Hida Musasha]

The big man nods, "She's downright cheery compared ta a Kuni. An' thems th' only priests I ever dealt with afore comin' here. She's like a f*ckin' ray o' sunshine in comparison."

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi winces slightly at the use of coarse language, memories of his father wailing in Sanzaemon for saying something similar raced through his head. Something else to get used to, I suppose.

"Hai, I suppose you're right." The Kuni were pretty freaky, all things considered.

[Hida Musasha]

He nods, "So yer not taken' wi' the Gunso, apparently, ya meet anyone that strikes yer fancy yet, then?"

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi colored slightly. "Umm... not particularly." They don't really teach lying at Shinden Asahina. Fuichi is fairly bad at it.
