[Moshi Kaimenko]

"Oy! WATCH BEHIND YOU!"

Kaimenko cursed beneath her breath as she scrambled off her perch to run across the deck of the ship. She dodged nimbly around the dock workers loading the Half Moon just as the rope slipped from the porter's grasp as he tripped on a line. For a moment, the world slowed as she leapt at the rope and winced as her arms were yanked upwards. An unlady-like grunt left the woman as she instinctively crouched to balance the weight of the barrel dangling on the other end, "Don't just stare at my ass! Get over here and do your kami-damned job!"

There was a moment before the man, no... boy really, did as he was bid and lent his weight to it. With his help, Kaimenko maneuvered the precious water on to the deck. Once it was safe she rounded on the porter, hands on her hips and gave him a hard stare. He opened his mouth to apologize, eyes dropping.

"I don't want to hear it," she growled, eyes narrowing, "Go tell your foreman to send someone else to handle the rope pulley."

He didn't move.

"NOW! GET A MOVE ON! WE DON'T HAVE ALL DAY!" Before the Moshi could finish bellowing, the heimen had sprinted off. Watching him scurry away, she crossed her arms and scowled. Getting out of port was always a pain. Add new recruits to that and well...

Her eyes flicked over the docks of Toshi no Inazuma, looking for the first greenhorns to show up.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Rinzuki steps aside as the heimin rushes past her, her eyes following him down the boarding plank for a moment before they turn back to the ship and its occupants. An amused smile plays at the edges of her lips as she continues the rest of the way onto the ship.

"Might I have permission to come aboard...Moshi-sama?" Her voice held a bit of the same amusement as her expression, but that did little to interfere with her otherwise deferent tone. "This is quite a lovely ship."

[Moshi Kaimenko]

Kaimenko's eyes narrowed briefly as she looked the Iuchi up and down. Everything from the woman's kimono to her fashionable scroll satchel were noted with something very much like disdain. The Moshi's voice was cool and a bit stiff, as if it pained her to be polite, "If you must."

It wasn't exactly an invitation, but as close as Rinzuki was going to get.

Oh, please let her be an orchid breeder.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

'Thank you," Rinzuki says with a bow to the woman, showing no sign of being upset in the slightest.

"Iuchi Rinzuki, of the Baraunghar, reporting for duty." A well manicured hand finds its way to rest upon her fashionable satchel. "I have travel papers, my assignment orders, and a personal recomendation from Moto Naranbaatar, if you would like to see them at this time."

She smiles warmly as she allows her gaze to settle upon Kaimenko. "Unless, of course, Moshi-sama is busy, in which case there is always time for such things later."

[Shinjo Qulan]

Qulan approached the docks in apprehension. This would be her first time at sea, and she wasn't looking forward to it at all. She'd look back over towards where she and her family said their goodbyes and sighed. It was a good thing she turned around when she did, as heimin nearly bumped into her. But, as every good Shinjo, she was able to smoothly move out of the way.

As she got closer, she noticed there was at least one more Unicorn boarding, which surprised her. Another one of us trapped on a ship for Lady Shinjo knows how long? Qulan stayed behind the Iuchi in what she believed to be the line to board the dreaded ship.

[Moshi Kaimenko]

The Mantis' eyes flicked over Rinzuki's shoulder as another one appeared. Well, it looked like the Fortune's had decided what she was going to do this morning. "Moshi Kaimenko. Gunso. I don't need to see them, but the Captain will want to take a look."

Kaimenko's gaze shifted back to the woman before she glanced over her shoulder. Her voice split the air, sharp and commanding.

"OY! HAPPY! GET OVER HERE!"

A young man in his late teens looked up as he finished handing off the load on his shoulder. He wiped his brow and trotted over to the women, bowing to each with a cheerful smile, "Hai, gunso?"

"See these two below and their papers to the Captain."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Rinzuki bows to Kaimenko and the the man, and the glances over her shoulder at the other Unicorn woman.

"Shinjo-sama," she says, with a warm smile and another bow. "How pleasant to learn that I will be traveling with one of my cousins. I hope that the morning has found you favorably."

[Shinjo Qulan]

The now much more confident Shinjo bowed in return. "My morning has been well, Iuchi-san, I hope your's has been well." Qulan looked around to see if anyone else were coming. Apparently not, so she turned back to her Shugenja clan mate. "I am Shinjo Qulan, daughter of the overseer of Yashigi and Taisa of the 8th Legion of the Junghar, Shinjo Batu. I am pleased to be with at least one cousin in my new duties."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Rinzuki places a hand upon her chest as she meets Qulan's gaze. "This one is Iuchi Rinzuki, daughter of Iuchi Kaito and Iuchi Haruka, both of the 3rd Legion of the Baraunghar, prior to their deaths during the winter campaign. Know that you are well met, Shinjo-sama."

She holds the other woman's gaze for a moment longer before turning back to the man called Happy. "Shall we continue our conversation below deck? I do not wish to keep the captain waiting any longer than is...strictly necessary."

Higyou (also known as Happy) gave the Moshi a sharp salute and blinked a bit as the two Unicorn women stood around making introductions. Briefly his eyes followed Rinzuki's gesture and it took him a moment to realize that he was being addressed. The young man flushed, "Uhh..."

His eyes darted towards the Gunso before he straightened his back, trying to look tall and dignified. It worked. Sort of.

"Sorry ma'am, Cap'n notonboardatthemoment," he blurted before continuing at a slightly more comprehensible rate, "Err... I can show yah to yer quarters iffin it pleases and I'll take yer papers to 'is office."

In the background, Kaimenko rolled her eyes.

[Shinjo Qulan]

"Ah... Hai, Iuchi-san." The normally reckless woman was very content with following others around until she got comfortable with the fact that there'd be no more open plains for her to ride her horse, Shien. How she'll be hauled up in this ship with a bunch of sweaty men... And apparently women.

She turned her head towards the guy apparently named 'Happy'. Half-listening to him, she merely wondered who in the world would name their child 'Happy'.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"That would be quite acceptable, thank you." Rinzuki bows to the crewman and glances back towards Qulan, her expression one of mild amusement. "Would you care to join me, Shino-san? I am not certain as to your own experience in these matters, but I have never spent the night aboard a ship before."

[Shinjo Qulan]

"Ah, that would be wonderful, Iuchi-san." Qulan snapped out of her odd train of thought, following at an appropriate distance behind the Iuchi. "I have to admit... This is my first time."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"No worries," Rinzuki says with a faint smirk. "I am sure that we will be able to figure things out with a minimal amount of fumbling and thrashing about."

With that, she descends into the hold...

The ashigaru ran a hand through his hair as he was promptly ignored, but took it in stride. It gave him some time to regain his composure. He met the gunso's darkly amused look and shrugged while the Unicorn weren't looking. Happy bowed a second time, "This way, ma'ams..."

He gestured for the women to follow him, picking a path through the bustling activity of the ship to the closest stairway leading to the women's side of the ship.

[Akodo Jishaku]

As the two Unicorn disappear into the ship another new face makes his way up the boarding ramp, a bow slung over one shoulder and a travelling pack over the other. The light sea breeze catches his hair and with a smile the young Lion bushi takes a deep breath of the fresh, salty air. Looking around for someone who might be in charge Jishaku spots the Gunso and takes a moment to look her up and down with a soldier's calculating glance. He moves closer and bows.

"Akodo Jishaku reporting for duty."

[Moshi Kaimenko]

Kaimenko watched the bustle of the ship with a critical eye, sparing a glance for the Lion when he presented himself. There was a coiled waiting in the way the woman carried herself. She shifted unconsciously, balancing upon the gently shifting deck with an ease born of practice.

"Moshi Kaimenko, gunso," came the terse reply, followed but an equally brusque greeting and instructions, "Welcome aboard. Stairs are over there, men's side is marked. You can hand me your marching orders or give it to the Captain yourself, don't care either way.

[Akodo Jishaku]

"Well met, Gunso-sama." Reaching into his kimono he produces a scroll case and offers it to the Moshi. "I'm sure the Captain has more important things to do than receive the orders of every new recruit." The hint of a wry smile appears on his lips as he notes the ease with which Kaimenko holds herself on the shifting deck. "Do you require anything of me, or should I just get out of your way for the moment?"

[Moshi Kaimenko]

She gives him an odd look as she takes the papers, but makes no comment regarding her Captain and his habits. His smile, alas, was not returned. "Best you stow your gear. Pick up anything you think you'll need from the port. Be back by sundown."

Yes. Warm and welcoming as a dead fish.

[Akodo Jishaku]

"Hai, Gunso-sama." He bows with soldierly formality, takes two steps back and then makes his way across the deck toward the stairs. I think I like her. Reminds me of uncle Tetsuo, though with more charisma.
