[Day 6, Early Afternoon, Open] Taking a Dip

[Kakita Sugita]

Sugita thinks it's a grand idea. He would. He has to hang out with him all the time. "You can eat most anything from the sea raw," he explains as he cuts into the soft underside of the sea urchin. "Just need to know what parts to eat." The orange gooey stuff pops out of the cut made by the knife. He gets a chunk of it on the knife and holds it out for the Dragon. "Here."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

For all her wondering complaints about the urchin's strange appearance, when the time came for the testing, she showed no doubt or wonder. Itsuho took the morsel, chewing softly and looking contemplative. After a moment she nodded slowly. "Hai... it is not quite what I am used to, but it is good none the less. It tastes as the sea does I suppose." That faint smile of hers touched her lips.

[Kakita Sugita]

"Yah. Lots of spines to keep things away from the yummy stuff inside." Sugita offers up a little more before sucking the rest straight out of the creature.

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho took the second piece, eating it in the same contemplative manner. It seemed she did everything that way. "It seems life makes many dangerous thing balanced in the end. Like a beautiful sword or a.. what was it you called that?"

[Kakita Sugita]

"Uni," he says nodding and swallowing all at the same time.

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

"Ah... hai, that sounds right." Itsuho took her head off her bare arms and pushed off the boat, making it rock as she back stroked away into the water once more.

[Kakita Sugita]

Sugita looks closely at the dead thing in his hand. This is not terribly beautiful. Toss. Back to the ocean it goes. The Mirumoto on the other hand. Wonder if she's stabby. Sugita kicks off the boat, sending it further back toward the ship as he swims out with Itsuho. "If'n ya don't mind me askin'. What'd you do before comin' to the Legions?"

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

She floats freely on her back for a moment, staring up into the sky. "Before the Legions? I fought some on the northern front against the Dark Oracle's army. The war was in full swing by the time I left my school, and right after the war, I was... recommended to Legion duty. Truth told, not a busy life at 18, neh?"

[Kakita Sugita]

"Not many of us have seen life yet! I was in the merchant marine. Guard duty. The only warfare I've seen is us waving swords to make cowardly pirates run away. And a few bar brawls, ha!" Like the one that landed him in the Legion, albeit in a roundabout way.

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

She was silent a moment, likely thoughtful, before she spoke quietly. "Warfare is a samurai's duty, but truth told it is not something I long to see again. I saw many friends die to the yobanjin, and while I honor their memory, I wish to remember my remaining ones for things yet to come."

[Kakita Sugita]

"Fair enough. Maybe I'm just an ignorant fool. Gotta find my own way and all that." Bluster is not this one's strong point. He floats through compliments and pride like he floats on the water. "Well. I'm glad to have you here."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

She sits up from her relaxation at that, giving Sugita a curious look. "Oh? Is that because I brought the knife for your treat, Kakita-sam--san?"

[Kakita Sugita]

"Haha! Sure, that's one small reason," Sugita answers. Nothing else is offered. The Crane continues to float around.

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

"The larger ones I remain to your own thoughts... unless you wish it to be your turn to be refreshingly honest." She just smirks softly as she starts hard swimming, stroking firmly as she swims around the boat.

[Kakita Sugita]

"First off, it means you didn't die in the north. That one should be obvious. More personal... because I enjoy your company. Sometimes I can't even tell if you're being sarcastic or playful. Dull. Hah! Sure..."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho swam hard a moment more before stopping, arms going onto the edge of the boat as she panted and looked over. "I am not very good at sarcasm, but I am good at being playful, even if I don't always show it well. Hotei blesses me, Sugita-san."

[Kakita Sugita]

"Good!" What else to say to that? "Hope he can do the same for me. Hasn't treated me poorly." Why is that significant?

One big kick and Sugita follows, going below the water to come up right next to Itsuho on the boat. "I'm still waiting for something to try it's luck touching you." He says from less than an arm's length away.

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho shook her head. "That's good at least, though I can't say why the Fortune's favor who they do. As for the fish... perhaps they are all Rokugani fish that followed us to this forsaken coast, and they know where they are in on the hierarchy of things." She smirked softly.

[Kakita Sugita]

"Below sea level." He gives a wink. "Not worthy of being in your radiant presence."

[Mirumoto Itsuho]

Itsuho shook her head softly. "Perhaps so, Sugita-san. The only fish I wish to see are those being served to me on a platter." She paused, rocking with the waves as she clung to the boat. Her tone lowered. "Sumimasen, I had meant, Kakita-san."
