With some time to sit down and relax, Naomi found herself in the galley for a light meal. The food on the boat had been... ok. Passable. But, when hungry enough after a day of being on her feet, it would suffice.
Sipping lightly on the soup, she made small notes in her journal with a pencil-shaped piece of charcoal rather than brush and ink.

Soon after follows Musasha, who gets as much as Cook will let him take. He sits down at a table and begins to eat like its his first meal in the last week. Rice, fish stock, and cooked vegetables all disappear with the speed of a practiced speed eater.

Shortly after, Daidoji Fuichi enters the mess. His plate is sparse and, once seated, he picks at it half-heartedly, as though eating were a chore.

"Hida-san, Daidoji-san," Naomi looked up from her journal and closed it shurt, "good evening."

She knew that the Daidoji had been part of the ruccus earlier, but, Isawa-gunso had told not to speak of it, so she left it at that.

The Hida declines his head in a semi-bow, shoveling more food into his mouth immediately after. "Mmm..."

Fuichi nodded in return. In the process, the length of hair covering his right cheek shifted to reveal the beginnings of what would be a truly magnificent bruise.

"Good evening, Shiba-san," he murmured.

Naomi, predictably, started fussing slightly like a mother hen. "Have you had someone to look at that yet, Daidoji-san? It looks like it's getting pretty swollen..." Will definatly leave a mark on that pretty face.

Musasha comments with his mouth partially full, "Tryin' ta get yer first battle scar?" The food stays put, luckily, but it doesn't make it any less unpleasant to see.

Fuichi frowns slightly in the Hida's direction. "It is nothing, Shiba-san. My brothers have given me far worse in their time."

Qian-Fan slips in to the galley to the particular unpleasant sight of the Hida mid shovel . . . and quickly turns to the cook, dispelling his grimace into a shy smile as he collected his share of the evening's meal and took a seat beside his clanmate.

Musasha recieved a slightly stern glance for talking with his mouth full. "... If you say so, Daidoji-san. I'd still get something on it to reduce the swelling though, otherwise it might be hard to sleep."

"Agasha-san," Naomi gave a deferential bow of her head to her kinsman. "I trust you've been well today?"

Qian-Fan returned the bow.

"A quiet day. I will be happier once we are clear of this . . . region."

The big man completely misreads the look and winks.

He waves his chopsticks at the newcomer and continues to eat.

Naomi blinked somewhat confused over Musasha's wink, and focused instead on her food for a moment.

"... Hai, I agree with you, Agasha-san. The sooner we are out of this place, the better. It's not having a very... good effect on morale."

The Agasha blinked in turn, not perhaps the best way to join a conversation, perhaps a change of topic.

"Have you heard anything of this island we are headed for, Shiba-san?"

She shook her head.
"Not really, no. I'm not really familiar with the places so far away from the Phoenix coast. I haven't heard anyone say much about it, to be honest..."

Another blink.

"Can we expect a town, or a decent sized settlement? Or is it merely a defensible location?"

He offered the question to all around.

Musasha shrugs as he slurps some fish stock out of the bottom of his bowl. Finished eating, in world record time, he pops the top off of his bamboo water bottle and drinks down about half of it.

Fuichi finally finishes chewing.
"I can't imagine that there will be anything like true civilization that far from the Empire. Of course, I have no way of being certain."

Qian-Fan blinked again, he had forgotten the Daidoji was even here and stared at the man's bruised face for a moment.

"There must be a settlement of some kind though? Why else would we be bound for it?"
