[Moon 15, Aftdeck, Early Night] Starless Night (Open)

Covering up a yawn with the back of her hand, Hoshi tiredly meandered up to the upper decks of the ship for some air, which came with the cost a dreary mood. Hoshi was garbed in a simple evening yukata with a blanket draped around her shoulders like a make shift cloak. She didn’t get quite far in her stroll, which wasn't her intention of being up there this late, finding a crate box to slouch down for a quick seat to rest the aches the felt.

In the end, her cheap pillow book could only keep Yakusoku's attention for so long. The sound from outside was making sleep difficult and though she'd volunteered, the idea of being flogged certainly didn't make resting any easier. So, tossing her headband back on the woman makes her way up onto the deck.

Wandering about, the woman takes note of the Scorpion and stops. She wasn't much for the clan as a whole but she had told herself she'd meet everyone on board. "Evenin'" she murmurs after a few moments thought. Making her way closer to Hoshi she offers a quick bow, her tattooed, bare arms resting at her sides.

Being late enough at night, Hoshi was naturally without her maks but her identity was likely familiar enough from sharing the same quarters. There was a slight delay in her reaction when the woman approached her before she drifted her eyes upwards and stood up to return the bow in kind. "...Good evening Ichiro-san. I don't think I had the chance to formal introduce myself. This one is Bayushi Hoshi, formerly of Ryoko Owari Toshi."

"Ichiro Yakusoku, from Sunda Mizu Mura. Pleasure to meet ya." Introductions exchanged the Badger moves a bit nearer and looks out toward the water. She'd be glad once the boat was far from this area. "So what brings ya up 'ere in the middle of the night? Can't sleep either?"

Her tired eyes lit up for a moment at the name of the city, "Ah, Sunda Mizu Mura..." She murmured softly in familiar of the city by reputation rather than experience.

"Mm. Likewise in feeling Ichiro-san." She nodded back to her and pulled the blanket around herself as she settled back down on the crate, it took good effort to stand at the moment. "Hai, that would be a good guess. Very few people have a good reason to be meandering at night without a uniform on...As for me, it would be something like that. The mind is willing but the isn't able. I should be thankful it's not before a big day."

Yakusoku nods. "Sleep don't come easy with where we're sailin'. Lookin' forward to movin' on from 'ere." Again her dark eyes turn toward the water and she lets out a long, loud exhale. "Ya new to this whole sailin' thing?"

Hoshi's attention danced a bit around the dark skies that they were under, personally glad to have something to blame for her lack of sleep. "It's not our first night here but...I can see how it can get to you later if it didn't before. Not all new recruits are shipped so quickly out here, so I will take that as a good omen of trust..."

After a delay, her brows lifted and she turned a peculiar glance at the Ichiro, as if sensing some challenge from the question. She glanced back to the ground and shook her head. "It's not my first time being on a boat, nor at sea Ichiro-san. Then again, Scorpions are more freshwater creatures than those of the sea. My experience within the Empire finds a hard time translating here, according to some sailors, counts for very little..."

"Eh, sailin's sailin," she shrugs. "Sure, some things are different. But ya still know how life on a boat goes and that's what matters, y'know?" Scratching at the back of her neck the woman curls the corner of her mouth into a crooked half-smile. "Good to know we 'ave more experienced folks on board. Means talkin' 'bout sailin' is gonna get more outta people than blank stares."

I've been on a boat, but living on a boat...Well, I'll get used to it. "You're one of the few who put it so simply when it comes to freshwater and salt water. Maybe the first really. Thank you Ichiro-san." She smirked, marred by the lack of energy in her current state. "I'm glad to be part of the flow rather than against it, if I am to find a future here. When I stepped on board, I assumed everyone was at least of my experience or greater...It would explain Moshi-gunso's opinion of us."

"Yeah, some of the recruits act like they ain't ever seen water before," she smirks, shaking her head. "They'll learn though. Give'em a couple weeks and I see most of'em becomin' at least halfway decent sailors."

"There are some who have been brought here on mm...extraordinary circumstances. They may be new to the experience but the Imperial office must have their reasoning." She said softly on the topic, she wasn't going to make a habit of doubting their abilities as an insult on the Legion. The silly ones tend to do surprising well sometimes. Sometimes. "Maybe if we're lucky, we only need a few days. It makes for hard training under these skies...Even Sunda Mizu Mura was nothing like this ne?"

"Hai," the Badger nods in agreement, "it was quite different. Lookin' forward to seein' the other differences in the days to come, once we're gone from 'ere. This place still has people on edge. Somethin' happened to Dageki-san's sister and it really set'em off. Don' know a lot of details there but its clear this place is gettin' to some folks." And here I was hopin' to keep my mind off that. Yakusoku sighs softly once again looking out to sea.

Hoshi rested her chin on a hand and had herself tilt her head slight as she looked up at the Ichiro. "Mm? There were accounts of a few incidents on board? Something escalated with this Daegki?" She pressed for details.

"Ain't allowed to say much in the way of details. Gunso's orders. And I don' know all the details as I just caught the ass end of it. Seems he was mad about what happened to his sister and did some things he shouldn't 'ave that upset a recruit. He's the leader of the ashigaru so I'd expect better but ya know how peasants can get. They don't have the same kinda self control as us samurai."

It's not often peasants get uppity on samurai in the Scorpion lands but the general idea was there that they weren't exactly samurai by any measure. She let out a small breath and shrugged. "Would that be the same angry ashigaru who was mentioned?" Recalling that there was public chatter about that. "I don't know if a peasant could get very far if something serious was involved...even if these seas had something to do with it."
