(Moon 14, Afternoon, Crew Quarters) Triage

by Isawa O-Washi
For a change, Isawa O-Washi was taking every member of the crew to train at once. In another change, he had directed them to gather in the crew quarters and had, for the duration, removed the curtains that divided up the space, thus ensuring ample seating for everyone. He'd brought out a chest, upon which he was currently sitting, and had several of the peasantry with him, sitting on the planks at his feet like an odd version of children gathered for a story. One of them, the eldest female ashigaru, was leaning against one of the ship's carpenters, her head wrapped about in bandages.
None of them looked particularly happy but that was nothing compared to O-washi, who looked like might explode at any moment. Dressed in an actual kimono today, a finely made ensemble with the mon of the Tsunami Legion and ornate oceanic embroidery around the hem, he cut a very stern figure, his eyes a roiling swirl of blue green that one only saw in the sea in the worst of storms. He held a cup of tea in one hand and was drinking it with great determination, the soothing brew, and the reprieve from the sea's suffering the Island brought, the only thing that would permit him to complete this lesson without losing all control of his temper.
Hopefully.

Zenko returned to the quarters after having moved out of the way when all the changes were occurring. It was a little more comfortable, having the curtain removed...and somewhat reassuring to know the women didn't have a larger, or at least, too much larger section of the boat.
Or would it be better for idle men for them to need a larger area? he found himself thinking momentarily, before shaking his head. Still, it was easier to think below deck. He put on a smile, and found a spot to stand near his own bunk, but not so far off that he was in a corner or anything. Bowing to the teacher, he somehow decided to stay silent for the moment.

"Konnichiwa Gunso-sama." Hoshi greeted the Isawa with a polite bow before she settled for a seat in the inner circle of today's lesson. She was thankful that she was early enough to get this spot, because this was most likely going to be a busy room by the time the shugenja spoke.

After greeting the gunso, the uniform clad Unicorn sat unceremoniously on the floor, few shaku away from the Scorpion. he was not sure why the man had called them all here, but judging my the props, he thought he knew what was to come.

Nozomi comes in with soft footfalls, wondering how everyone was going to fit into the smallish space. She could do it no problem... but some of the other samurai were not as naturally adept at such dimensional feats. Noting the particular demeanor of the huge Isawa, she silently picks a spot right up front and folds her tanned arms in front of her.

Nobuyoshi walks in, still no song on his lips. He bows to those present, gunso getting the first and deeper one, naturally.
I wonder what this shakeup in the training schedule portends?

The Mantis arrived next fresh from up deck and still dressed rather lightly despite the cold. It had been a bleak day thus far and apparently this lesson here was to be bleaker still if the mood of the room told him anything. Bowing to everyone before taking a quick glance around the room the young man found a spot somewhat to the near of the group and took a seat. There would be enough people clamoring to be front and center he didn't need to be one of em.

By and large, the hohei got nods but no more.
Zenko, however, caused the gunso to put down his tea.
"Usagi-san. Still got that bang up from yesterday? If so, get your butt up here...you get to be practice."

by Hida Sayuri
Sayuri comes in from the cold in short sleeves, bare feet, and the armor that's barely been taken off long enough to wash while they traverse the Sea of Shadows. After a brief and barely adequate set of greetings, she stays just inside the door and off to one side, as if trying to take up as little room as possible in what will become a somewhat cramped space.
She also makes a rather nice windbreak from the draft that accompanies each newcomer.

Musasha arrives, and grabs his folding stool from his bunk area. He is glad to be able to use it, as it reduces the chance of hitting his head on the upper deck planking.

Kaito nodded a greeting as the moshi took up a place near him but kept silent for the moment. This was a time for learning and not ide chatter after all.

Qian-Fan was there, fussing with his braid to distract himself from where they where. With no books to read while on duty he had to do something. Eventually he slipped agily through those gathered and knelt on the floor beside Nozomi.

After an appropriate bow to the gunso, Masamichi quietly takes a spot in back thoughtfully stroking his fine moustache wondering what is to come.

Fuichi enters, looking very drained indeed. Seeing the girl swathed in bandages his eyes widen. He approaches as unobtrusively as possible.
"Touhi-san? I see that my carelessness has caused you injury. For this I wish to apologize." He bows to her as to a superior, his long hair shifting to reveal the back of his neck.

Even with the chill, Choukichi refuses to wear anything that would cover his arms and render his charms inneffective, so continues to wear a sleeveless vest. A bit worried that with so many people in here at once all paying attention to O-Washi and not their surroundings the ships new kittens might get trampled, he has collected them and carries them both carefully in his arms. Instinctively, he joins the group taking up a position on the side of Chihiroko opposite Kaito.

He looks up, "Oh yes? Yes, of course." He steps forwards, bowing a bit as he weaves his way through people to the front. "Practice sounds interesting."

Bowing to her cousin as he approached, her eyes caught sight of the kittens and glittered only momentarily before Chihiroko returned her attention to the lesson at hand. A mental note had been made.
