[Moon 13th, Aftdeck] Re-Apologies

[Asahina Masamichi]

After a long day of scrubbing the deck, Masamichi dumps a bucket of water over him to wash up a bit and runs his comb through his glorious mousache as he approaches the aftdeck where Moshi Kaimenko stood watch. He pauses to sheathe his comb, satisfied his moustache was presentable and bowed towards her, awaiting recognition.

[Moshi Kaimenko]

Kaimenko wasn't looking at the water, eyes searching the horizon as she peels off a few curls now and again from the figurine she was carving. She doesn't look at the Crane, acknowledging his presence with a cold, "What?"

[Asahina Masamichi]

"Gunso-sama, I wanted to re-state my apologie and insist on it's sincerity." he says, rising. "I intended no disrespect, but as someone who crewed a ship for years, your order was opposite of my training and experience. Ignoring it would have been disrespectful to my captain and mentor's spirit, it in no way was intended to be disrespectful to you, Gunso-sama."" he states again, with as much sincerity as he can muster.

[Moshi Kaimenko]

Her voice is flat as she turns to give the man a withering look, "Your Captain is now Yoritomo-sama. You are now on his boat. I don't give a flying dog turd how things were run on your previous boats, Asahina-san."

Kaimenko falls silent as she shapes the head of the miniature manikin she's carving. It was a bit before she spoke again.

"The sad thing is, I believe you didn't mean harm," she continues with a frown on her face, "However, it remains that you mouthed off to an officer in front of trainees during a lesson. That is unacceptable and sets a bad precedent. I do not need half a dozen untrained monkeys thinking they can impress me by trying to 'improve' our weapons because 'oh, look! The Crane did it without permission and I'm at least half as smart hur dur dur'."

"What it comes down to, is this. It isn't about you, as disappointing and world-shattering as that may be. It's about instilling some semblance of discipline in these unschooled jerkwads before they get assigned to another ship where their cockups will kill someone." The woman looks up from her carving, fixing the Crane with that unforgiving glare as she taps her knife on the wood railing to ward away bad-fortune.

[Asahina Masamichi]

Masamichi nods "I understand. Discipline must be maintained and a good example must be set." he says "Though while I will admit admiration for your skill in teaching, to be honest I have great love for ballista and would hate to be banned from them for the duration of our voyage. I wanted to be clear at no point did I intend to be hostile or insubordanate."

[Moshi Kaimenko]

Her eyes were cold and calculating as she glared at him. Finally she replies, "When you're not in training tomorrow, lend a hand to the heimen doing repairs around the ship. If you impress them, I'll reconsider."

[Asahina Masamichi]

He bows deeply "Yes Gunso-sama. Thank you, Gunso-sama" he holds the bow until dismissed and ...

[Moshi Kaimenko]

Kaimenko simply shakes her head and goes back to watching the horizon and carving. At least it wasn't elbow grease again.
