Today, dismal and cloudy as it was, wouldn't seem a good day for training. Nonetheless the gunso had dispersed the news with breakfast that those who still needed the lesson on scouting would get it...Suitengu never gives second chances to fools, after all.

O-washi, still grim, waited for the lone Dragon and those of the Minor Clans in nothing but flame-red jinbei. His eagle roosted nearby, looking nearly as surly as his master, puffed up and miserable and too unhappy with the atmosphere to fly.

Arriving dressed in grey trousers and a sleeveless shirt, the Kitsuki offers the Phoenix gunso a respectful bow.

The Sparrow girl trots to the meeting places and actually slows to a stop in deference to the general mood, rather than landing on a bounce. She bows to both men present. As a good morning would seem rather out of place, she simply greets them politely. However, while she's sensitive to the present mood, it doesn't seem to be affecting her mood at all. She's smiling, seemingly in defiance of the oppressive clouds and choppy seas on either side.

Both samurai were given bows as were their due but O-washi made no jokes as he usually would. Instead, he simply said, "One more and then we climb. Any concerns on that front?"

"No, Isawa-sama."

Satsuki simply echoes the Dragon, keeping an eye out for their other companion for this. "No, Isawa-sama."

Though part of her felt she didn't need the training, Yakusoku figured if nothing else it could be decent distraction. Not that she was looking forward to any sort of exercises that left her looking out onto the dark, choppy waters... but it was better than sitting around and listening to the noise. Dressed in her sleeveless shirt and trousers the woman makes her way to the group silently; a rare, thoughtful expression on her face. Its only when she gets close to the assembled samurai that the expression gives way to a half-smile and she offers a bow. "Did I hear ya say climb, Isawa-sama?"

He nodded, curtly. "You can go first, Kitsuki-san."

"Hai, Isawa-sama."

Taking in a deep breath and finding his center, the Kitsuki begins his climb. Although not a natural climber, his time in the mountainous lands of his Clan seem to have taught him something, as he scales the ropes easily.

"Alright, Ichiro-san, you next."

With those two up he'd be able to help the tiny Suzume if her arms proved too short to manage.

"Hai Isawa-sama," she speaks emphatically, offers a nod, and then begins to scale the rigging with no trouble at all.

That left only the Sparrow. O-washi kept his voice soft so it wouldn't carry. "If you have a bit of a problem with the upper rungs, we can get a rope dropped."

The tiny Sparrow giggles with a bit of embarrassment, looking up at the rigging. "Ah... That's probably a good idea... I can easily see having a bit of trouble."

She began climbing. It started off awkward and didn't really get better. Finally, she loses a handhold and slides down one of the ropes some. Her efforts at using what little strength she had were rewarded with a rope burn and winding up a bit stranded.

Without a moment of hesitation, the big man swarmed up after the poor girl, calling up, "Ichiro-san! Drop the rope from 'round the mast!"

Once he reached the little Sparrow he simply surrounded her frame with his, ensuring she couldn't fall from the span before the rope arrived.

Seeing the Suzume falter, Yakusoku was already moving for the rope. Hearing the Isawa's command she moves a bit faster, lowering the rope down to the Sparrow and looking her way with a quick nod. "Here ya are, Suzume-san."

Gently, the Phoenix murmured, "Just wrap it around your chest...I'll make sure you do not fall."

"Thank you, Isawa-sama. Sorry for the trouble," she says with a sigh, then brightens up. "I guess it's good I didn't hit the deck, though."

Satsuki accepts the rope gratefully and uses it to make her way up much more carefully. Once reaches the top, she smiles. "Thanks, Ichiro-san."

"No need ta thank me," she looks over, turning against the ropes. "We're crew; we look out for each other."

After pulling himself up, O-washi sidled out onto the spar, leaving the others the narrow plank nest proper. "Alright. Take a good look around the ships and tell me what you see."

The Sparrow smiles at the Ichiro's assurance, and peers out at the instruction of O-Washi. Surprisingly, she's actually able to pick out a few things!
