Mmm, foods... (Moon 10, Crow's Nest, Early Afternoon)

[Hida Musasha]

The Hida loved being up above the ship while eating. Fresh air with no sailor stink and a good number of carrots, apples, and broccoli make for a great lunch. He climbs all the way up to the crow's nest, moving up the ropes as a spider. Only his tetsubo scraping on his armor giving off much noise as he does so.

[Shiba Nozomi]

Already having taken her seat high above the ship, the loud scraping and clanking noises definitely garner her attention. Glancing down over the side of the Crow's Nest, Nozomi's eyes grow huge when she recognizes the hulking figure headed up towards her.

For the love of the kami... In a slight panic, she tries to find a place to escape to. Unfortunately for her, she was sitting in the one place where there was nowhere to run to, unless you could fly. She most certainly could not. so instead, she sat, biting her lip, making small prayers to whatever kami popped into her head next.

[Hida Musasha]

As Musasha's eyes clear the planks of the Crow's Nest, he meets her cloudy gaze. "Er...umm...oh..." He stops for a moment and thinks, "Good day, little phoenix..." He takes another breath, "...-san. I am Hida Musasha. Apparently 'tis customary to introduce yourself, and I never did. Didn't occur ta me, really."

[Shiba Nozomi]

Don't panic. Don't panic. Don't-Panic. Don'tPanic.
Everything seemed to be zipping through her head at a high speed.

Weakly, she greets him. "Ko-konnichi-wa, H-hida-san." ACT NORMAL. Swallowing, she continues,"I'm Shi-shiba Nozo-zo-mi."

[Hida Musasha]

The man looks thoughtful, "That sounds Nezumi..." He holds up a small sack, "Wanna carrot? Nezumi like carrots."

[Shiba Nozomi]

"Erm..." Realizing he wasn't going to go away, or even notice she was in his way, she moves to a part of the crow's nest that wasn't right over the ladder to make room for him. The idea of accidentally getting stepped on wasn't so appealing.

"N-no thanks?"

A second thought. "Th-they do?"

[Hida Musasha]

He shrugs, "Apparently, they help sharpen their teeth at the same time as they eat." Seeing she made room, he deftly climbs up onto the plank and sets his sack down. He pulls out some carrots, broccoli, and apples, placing them in little groups. "Would you like any? I grabbed plenty. I am always hungry, but I can get more later."

[Shiba Nozomi]

She watches him sort the veggies by type. "Ano..."

As much as she would just love to just turn down the food, she was genuinely rather hungry. Cautiously, she scoots to the side of the blanket covered in food and asks hesitantly, "May I... h-have an ap-apple?"

He sure seemed less scary in the daylight... but there was just something... "If... it's n-not too m-m-much trouble, th-that is..."

[Isawa Junpei]

Practically right after training had ended, Junpei needed to stretch his legs, so to speak. After being cooped up for the last two days thanks to some stupid motion sickness, the young Phoenix was sick of the ship and so he left. Soaring into the sky, he drifted high above the deck, over the forward sail, robes, hair, and cords billowed and buoyed on a strong wind, far stronger than anything made simply be the movement of the ship in the water. He had is hands clearly folded in prayer, lifting them to the sky in a venerating gesture. His litany of beatitude to the Fortunes and the kami were lost on the two sitting in the crow's nest thanks to distance and the soft afternoon breeze.

(I'm sure I'll be over eventually, but I just wanted to get in here right away)

[Hida Musasha]

He nods, "Accorse." He picks one up in his giant calloused hand and tosses it into her lap. It lands squarely there in such a way that it doesn't bounce or roll away. "I ain't stingy, we are all property o' the Emperor. No reason ta horde what he lets us have."

He picks up a head of broccoli and crunches into the green flowery vegetable. His chewing is loud, but he stays turned away politely while he munches. His mouth a little full, "The Jade Dragon feels good today, wee...er...Shi-shiba..." and again... "er...san."

[Shiba Nozomi]

She blinks and tries not to flinch as the apple lands in her lap. Glancing down at for a moment, her brain processes a few things before she carefully picks it up and rubs the edge of sleeve over the entire thing. It wasn't an insult to him so much as it was an odd habit that occurred practically on it's own.

A small bite is taken and she munches quietly for a moment. "H-hai... it does, Hida-s-san."

Pointing at a pale spot in the water in the general direction the boat was heading, she adds quietly,"S...see that? Means g-good fishing. We s-sh-should be am-mong them soon..."

She doesn't immediately notice her clanmate that had decided to take flight, so focused was she on both apple and fish shoal.

[Hida Musasha]

His dour expression turns worse. "Fish stew, then. That's all I've been smelling for days. Second hand fish stew from some poor sod or another." He pulls out a pouch and breathes it in, "Better."

He polishes off the entire broccoli with his second bite.

[Shiba Nozomi]

While the topic of her crewmates losing their lunches wasn't exactly what she was looking to discuss while trying to eat hers, she did understand the sentiment. She carefully tries to turn the mood back to something more pleasant.

"In a f-few days, we sh-should be able t-to enjoy the thought of f-fr-fresh sushi again. D-doesn't get any f-fresher than right out of the w-water..."

If they were lucky, they might be able to catch and octopus or two as they sailed. Too bad eels weren't normally found in these types of waters...

[Hida Musasha]

He shrugs, "I've gotten used ta rations, vegetables, and stew, missy. Ya can' eat nothin' in th' shadowlands. Not even at sea."

[Shiba Nozomi]

Another thoughtful bite of apple, and the mention of the Shadowlands gives her some pause before swallowing.

"G-good thing we're n-not there, now, th-then, neh?" She twists the stem of the apple gently."G-give you a ch-chance to get used to s-someth-thing new?"

Intensely hopeful attempt at perspective skewing. Likely unsuccessful. Must be tried regardless.

[Hida Musasha]

He shakes his head, "too new, too fast. I can't get use ta all the rules a high rokugani an' bein' proper. I ain't never been in that kinda comp'ny. I probably sound stupid ta you. Don' really care, but ta be parta the empire, I gotta understan' it."

[Isawa Junpei]

The Isawa's prayers took a few minutes more, finishing up a lengthy prayer to Haruhiko, Fortune of Fishermen. Though he fished only occasionally, seeking the Fortune's blessing would be helpful to them all. Quickly checking through each Fortune and kami he could think of to be sure that they had been properly venerated today, he was at last content that he had covered them all. Letting his hands fall, he turned slowly, taking in the vast swaths of ocean that surrounded the ship. He'd lived on the coast for his whole life, but it was different to be out on the open sea with no sign of land in any direction.

Spying the Hida and Shiba in the crows nest, he raised his hands away from his hips and moved smoothly up to them. "Hida-san, Shiba-san. I hope I'm not interrupting." His voice came from about five feet below them and fifteen feet way. Though he hadn't met the Crab personally, sharing living quarters, it had been easy to at least get family names for each of his bunk mates.

[Hida Musasha]

"Ain't natural ta not get around on yer own if ya ain't inna hurry," musasha speaks with his mouth full, "but I ain't gonna be the one that hassa answer fer it." He swallows, before adding, "phoenix-san."

[Isawa Junpei]

"I'm not really sure what you mean, Hida-san," Junpei's quizzical expression showed that he really didn't. He rose to eye level, keeping some proper distance between them.

[Hida Musasha]

The man shrugs, "ain't my place ta explain anyway. I'd make a place fer ya, but I ain't sure there is one ta be made. Not a lotta room up here. If the wee lass here don' mind bein' closer mebbe..."
