[Afternoon, Moon 8, Armory] Pony Practice - Open

With a few hours of time to herself, Iuchi Rinzuki makes her way down to the armory, more for the sake of seeing just what a ship's armory looks like than any real desire to pick up weapons and hit stuff. She enters the small room and looks around curiously, before hefting up a bokken and giving it a few awkward practice swings.

"Not so hard," she mumbles to herself.

Qulan entered the armory with a bit of practice in mind, just in time to see Rinzuki trying to swing a bokken around. "Need help, Rinzuki-chan?" Asked the Shinjo, attempted to stifle a giggle.

Rinzuki turns towards the voice, her hands moving to hide the bokken behind her back. Given the size of the wooden weapon, it wasn't a very effective maneuver.

"Oh, Qulan-chan..." She smiles in embarrassment. "I was just playing around a bit. My apologies."

"You act like I caught your hand in the date jar." Qulan moved towards the bokken rack, taking one out herself. "Don't worry, I won't tell."

A grin spreads across the shugenja's face as she assumes a more natural posture, the bokken still held in one hand. "I just don't want to be messing around with things that bushi might be protective about."

She lifts her bokken to emphasize her point.

"Only a Lion would get upset about that." A soft giggle escaped from the Shinjo's lips. "I'm no Lion. Thankfully. Anyway, would you like to learn how to not smack yourself in the face with it?"

Rinzuki looks down at the bokken, and then back up at Qulan. "Are you going to hit me if I say yes?"

"Why would I hit you?" Qulan's brow arched in confusion. "I wouldn't hit you."

"Okay," she says, giving Qulan an amused look. "So long as you don't hit me."

"First... We should work on your stance." Qulan approached the Shugenja, standing behind her. "Spread your legs a bit more apart and hold the bokken with both hands."

Rinzuki looks down at her feet and spreads them apart a bit more. "Like this?" she asks, glancing back over her shoulder as she holds her bokken in front of her.

"Knees bent a little... And..." Coming from behind Rinzuki, Qulan manually adjusted her hold on the bokken by grabbing onto her arms gently. "Hold it tightly, or you'll be disarmed. Keep your elbows bent as well."

Rinzuki stiffens the slightest bit as Qulan presses up behind her. She stares ahead for a long moment, and then laughs softly.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think I caught a single word of that."

Still pressed behind Rinzuki, Qulan spoke again. "Oh, I said to bend your knees a bit more. And to tighten your grip on the bokken. Also, you might want to bend your elbows just a tad as well."

Rinzuki follows the instructions as best as she is able, bending her knees a bit even as she tightens her grip on the weapon. "Is that better?" she asks, her voice soft in the otherwise quiet room.

"Yes... That's good." Clearing her throat as she backed away, Qulan was a bit flustered. "Ummm... Lavender perfume? It's nice."

"Thank you for noticing," she replies, her head bowing as a smile works its way up her lips. "What do you want me to do now?"

"I want to see you swing, just in case you need to make adjustments." Qulan raised her own bokken. "Just like this." She used her own swings as an example.

Rinzuki looks down at her feet, then back up at Qulan as she makes a pathetic little swing through the air.

"Hmmm... No." Qulan again pressed into the back of Rinzuki, adjusting her grip for her. "Don't loosen your grip much when you swing, the bokken might fly out and hit someone."
