Mmm, foods... (Moon 10, Crow's Nest, Early Afternoon)

[Isawa Junpei]

Junpei was silent for a few seconds, canting his head as though looking at something besides the Hida. Then, he smirked, "I can respect that Hida-san, in a crude completely boorish sorta way. Although, try not to defame the spirits in my presence, particularly when we're at their mercy."

[Hida Musasha]

He shrugs, "Sorry 'bout that. I git passionate sometimes. 'Specially when being admonished fer bein' honest. I ain't got no fancy teachers that taught me high rokugani. Just learned enough ta talk ta the Yasuki when I needed fer somethin'."

[Isawa Junpei]

"I could never have guessed," Junpei's dry tone might have been lost on the Hida, but he used it anyway. "You know, being that you represent the Empress's fleet now, you might want to start cultivating some other virtues besides your club-like honesty."

[Hida Musasha]

He shrugs, "Ya don' think I'm tryin'?" He frowns, "it ain't like people are linin' up ta teach someone that ken rip their arms off the finer points o' Bushido. I know th' way people think o' th' Hida, an' I ain't gonna say it ain't well deserved. But what'd I ever do ta you? Nothin' but speak my mind. Had I been bent ta killin' men, you woulda been more like a target. Where have ya been since yer gempukku? I been killin' horrors wi' two dozen eyes and nearly as many legs at sea wi' a hundred other Hida. I ain't ever had ta look at a samurai in th' eyes afore and send him ta his ancestors. It's a whole differnt world ta me. You, ya just made a lat'rel position shift."

[Shiba Nozomi]

Nozomi, in her usual fashion, remains entirely quiet throughout the exchange. Pale eyes absorb it all.

Finally a gentle thought was voiced,"I j-joined because I d-didn't know w-what else t-to do."

It was a meager attempt at preventing a further fight, and Nozomi wasn't so sure the Crab wouldn't simply leap from the Crow's Nest to get to Junpei if the mood struck him. But it was also true. She hadn't had any other ideas what to do... joining the Imperial Legion seemed to be the only choice that made any sense to her.

Junpei was about to respond, but the sheer suddenness of the mousy interruption made him pause and look to Nozomi in a modicum of shock. Crooking an eyebrow he waited for some elaboration on her spontaneous admission.

[Shiba Nozomi]

Suddenly the enter of attention, Nozomi can't decide if the possible fight was worse, or this was.

"W-w-well... it was either mu-move inland and ge...t-try teaching, or s-stay on with my c-cousin's old s-sh-ship and the new c-captain." Her slender shoulders move gently against the fabric of her clothing in a shrug.

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha scratches his nose, "so ya got creative and came here instead?"

[Shiba Nozomi]

Her hazy eyes studiously inspect her feet. "If I'm g-going to h-have to get u-used to a n-new crew and C-captain anyway..."

He shrugs, "I ain't never been away from my Clan. Ain't never served on th' wall neither. I'm kinda an oddity. But, once my clansmen hear I help by bein' at sea, they usually say somethin' along th' lines o', 'Better you than me.' Can't blame 'em. It's comfertin' ta have that big ass wall 'neath ya. Plus, the Kaiu rotate where th' Dragons an' Chuckers (In our world, these siege engines would be called a Scorpion and a Trebuchet, but for obvious reasons I think they'd be called something else here) are pretty regular. Ya got a fire tossin' er boulder tossin' machine at yer back, it's a pretty big confidence builder."
