(Moon 11, Aft Deck, Afternoon) Battleship, Group A

[Rixy]

The boat, being a neat and tidy training vessel, had no such detritus lying about. There were, however, the usual assortment of belaying pins, not all of which were in use just then.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko grinned and chose one of the belaying pins, the first one she could get her hands on. She didn't even bother testing for weight or balance. This thing would be her weapon, and she was VERY clearly satisfied with it.

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Watching the combat was almost enough to overcome the mental discomfort of his clothing. Qian-Fan looked carefully at the weapons available, not really knowing how to use any of them. He much preferred a lightning bolt, tsunami, whirlwind or strike of pure jade from behind the protection of a yojimbo, but Kari wasn't here anymore and he'd told the Captain he'd learn some kind of weapon.

[Kitsuki Kotsu]

The Kitsuki watches the combat carefully. He'd likely would need to fetch a bokken once his time came up.

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha knew that look, the unhinged ones would get that same look before they tackled a demon right over the side of the ship never to be seen again... He hoped she wasn't that far gone.

However, he expected to have his turn be a bit more normal, as he was likely going to be up against samurai. He wasn't sure he could do this exercise with a katana with the same effect as a tetsubo, but honor required he did so, and he looked at the bokken from afar.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Here it came, the attack that made the most sense in this situation. Once he saw his opponent waiting for his chance, he knew that he'd release a wild strike next. Had this been normal combat, Nobuyoshi would have gutted the spearman twice over by now, especially once he saw that coming. But the rules laid out to him beforehand were to not kill crewmates, regardless of their social station.

The spear slides in, the light armor blunting some of the trauma, not nearly effectively as the Crab armor, but Crab armor is for Crabs, a Scorpion needs to be able to move.

If he could just resist the push off the boat. Just not fall down, and the crewman's lack of defense would leave him open to terrible terrible retribution. Just one moment of resistance, just one and the fight would be his.

Falling....Failure....Defeat at the hands of a mere ashigaru....

The torment for this failure was going to be hellish, but for the moment there's naught the Scorpion could do about it save tighten his grip on his katana and race towards an uncaring sea.

[Isawa O-Washi]

At once, O-washi was at attention. "Man overboard!!!"

He clearly expected his 'crew' to do the rescuing on their own because he then sauntered calmly over to the spearman and clapped him heartily on the shoulder, congratulating him on once again earning his pay.

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha was at the edge of the rail in a heartbeat, grabbing a rope on the way. He looks about to see if the Scorpion is over the waves or under...

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Qian-Fan also moves quickly for one with such a distracted air about him. He waits behind Musasha, preparing to help the man mountain haul the Bayushi onboard.

[Hida Sayuri]

Two long strides and Sayuri is at the rail, hands braced to launch over it in an instant, if needed. She knows he can swim, but you never know.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Such a fall does put him under the waves momentarily, but he manages to kick back to the surface.

This, unfortunately for Nobuyoshi, leaves him in a bit of a predicament. His hands are busy keeping a tight grip on his sword, and keeping it out of the hateful sea water as much as possible. His legs can help him tread water for awhile, but his light armor isn't so light in the water, and the sea's strength is constant and endless.

[Hida Musasha]

The big Hida shrugs, "Be ready ta pull." And he jumps in. He swims to the surface with little effort. He heads over to the Bayushi, "Hold still, man. And be glad yer wearin' yer armor fer once, 'cause I don' hafta touch ya."

He ties a harness around himself, then grabs the Bayushi by his Hauberk. "Fer the love o' all ya love, pull like yer gonna die otherwise, 'cause if ya drop us, I'm gonna kill ya."

[Isawa O-Washi]

On deck, hearing the colorful threats from below, O-washi couldn't help but grin at the antics of the big Crab, though he was careful to look at least somewhat concerned if anyone looked his way.

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Hearing the command to pull from below . . . and various other words he does his best to ignore, Qian-Fan takes up the strain on the rope and attempts to pull the two swimmers aboard. It is quickly evident that even a single water shugenja is not going to be able to pull up the Scorpion and the Man Mountain alone.

[Hida Sayuri]

Sayuri quickly braces herself to lend a hand to the ropes.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Not moving and letting the Crab haul him about like a puppy was not hard...well except maybe for pride. Though the actual saltwater on the wound had more sting than the implications.

Eyes looking off into the distance, the Scorpion comments on the Crab's words to him.

"Better to wear armor to stop the enemies that kill with malice, then worry about the sea killing you without thought. " he comments.

[Hida Musasha]

The Hida would have made a sign to ward off evil had he had a free hand to do so, "You better believe the sea has thoughts, and often they are unkind. You should balance safety with pragmatism. Most battles will be seen a long time comin'. The ones that happen by surprise, you might want to leave to the Crab on the ship, because they won't likely be men. Jus' consider the idea o' goin' wi' less than yer full set most o' th' time. Even I only wear my hauberk off duty."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

With Sayuri on the hauling as well they began to make some progress at lifting the two wet ones out of the briny depths.

[Yasuki Himiko]

If Himiko had been a few feet closer, she likely would have jumped in simultaneously with the Crab. As it was, though, with the situation well at hand, she just stood and waited, watching the other samurai work.

[Bayushi Kichirou]

Kichirou watched his cousin fall overboard with a small grin and a quirked eyebrow, well this is something I'll have to talk to him about later he thought to himself as rescue efforts materialized and were carried out.

Not seeing any sense in crowding the effort the other Scorpion finds himself some bokken and begins testing balance and weight. Likely it wouldn't matter too much, even from the brief spar already he could tell Nobuyoshi was the better fighter between the two of them and Kichirou was no doubt going into the drink. Still it was a habit he liked to partake in.
