[Isawa O-Washi]

O-washi shifted a little, the rolled up leg of his hakama moving upward and exposing a few more inches of well-formed limb.

"So I have heard."

Though clearly somewhat distracted by the trailing fingers, O-washi was still a Phoenix and curious as any of his kin about matters magical. "Did you take up the practice? There's a term I've heard bandied about...mehadu? Merodo? Something along those lines..."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"Meishido," she offers, with a smile of amusement. "My family tries not to speak overly much of any prayers that do not directly call upon the kami. But Meishido is quite useful when one is traveling beyond the borders of the Empire."

[Isawa O-Washi]

One large, scarred hand was waved in a circular motion. 'Then you're well prepared...the Empire is growing ever farther by the league."

For a few moments, he fell silent, perhaps thinking on what had been left behind. Finally, however, he caught her teasing hand gently but firmly and lifted it from his person, letting his leg return to its more usual vertical position, winking at her just once before becoming businesslike again.

"Here...let me show you what's where. If you're interested in making tissanes or other medicines, I'll show you the dispensery some time soon and show you what concessions have been made for mixing of unusual things on a rolling ship."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"That would be lovely, thank you." If she was upset about being touched or having her hand moved, she doesn't show it, and instead pays close attention as O-Washi shows her around the small room.

[Isawa O-Washi]

Organization, it soon turned out, was absolutely key in arranging a space so small. Cunning little drawers were designed to make the most use of each available space, the contents all carefully shielded against spilling or, in the case of the more delicate items, breakage. There was little in the way of ingredients here, only finished products such as balms and potions against seasickness...most of that, as he explained, was in the distillery below.

The tour took little enough time...well-laid out or not, the bay was simply not that large. When it was through, O-washi turned to Rinzuki again. "Do you have any questions for me before I move off to other duties? Medicinal or otherwise, we gunso are here to help you recruits, whatever you may think in the days to come."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Rinzuki nods as she leans back against the operating table. "How do we handle baths?"

[Isawa O-Washi]

"Well, see, the problem is that salt water doesn't work worth a damn to leave one feeling clean." O-washi grimace. "So we have a catch set up topside, just behind the Captain's quarters. Any rain we get fills it and I usually go and ask the kami to do so too on days when I haven't had to heal anyone. Try not to take more than a few and get used to water that's at best as warm as the weather outside...we don't dare risk boiling it, fire's too risky."

Growing thoughtful, he added "Sometimes the fire kami'll agree to dance with their brothers but that's a trick that takes more cajoling than I can usually manage..unless I'm sore from a fight...or other things..." And here, he winked at her, "...I just suck it up and bear it. If we go too long with no rain, though, we'll start imposing limits."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"I don't expect that I shall have a problem asking the water kami, at least as far as my own baths are concerned." She reaches up to brush a few invisible strands of hair behind one ear. "I was more concerned with where one should take a bath without turning it into a public event."

[Isawa O-Washi]

Understanding dawned on O-washi's face.

"You can draw curtains around the basin but there's no real private place...a sengokobune's big but not that big"

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"I expected as much," she sighs. "Still, I suppose we must all make sacrifices for the good of the ship, neh?"

Rinzuki fusses with the non-sleeves of her kimono, as if to prove her point.

[Isawa O-Washi]

It drew his gaze, as it was no doubt meant to. He considered for a bit what it might mean to be a pretty woman with a naturally seductive manner and drew a rather unpleasant conclusion about what she might be worried over.

"The others should know better than to make a pass or do more than briefly admire. Friendly flirting is one thing but actually pressing..." A thunderous scowl darkened the blue of his eyes. "If that happens, you come tell me or one of the other officers, day or night. That won't pass on this ship."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

The look O-Washi receives is one of great relief.

"I am sure that nothing of the sort will happen, Isawa-sama, but...thank you."

[Isawa O-Washi]

The grin he gave her was one of the ones he'd perfected in his years as brother two three pretty sisters, teasing and reassuring at once. "Come to me and I'll even let you help with devising the punishment, within the Captain's rules of course."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Rinzuki nods quickly, and glances to one side as her cheeks flush pink.

"...it seems to have gotten a bit warm in here, my apologies."

[Isawa O-Washi]

Doing his best to sound completely innocent, O-washi offered, "I'm sure I have no idea. Still...perhaps it would be best to go up if you're warm, the breeze this time of day is lovely."

An easy way for her to escape, if she wished.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"That may be for the best," she admitted, with a brief bow. "Thank you for spending so much time on me, Isawa-sama."

[Isawa O-Washi]

"Happy to help, Iuchi-san." O-washi's friendly grin was back but his eyes were serious. "Our job is to teach, after all. Now go, enjoy the afternoon."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Rinzuki bows once more and bounces out of the room, leaving the scent of her lavender perfume behind.

After watching her flounce, the big Phoenix shook his head, smiling a little, as he finished the work he'd come to do here, trying not to be too distracted by the scent she'd left behind.
