In Need of a Volunteer (day 13 afternoon Crew quarters Open)

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Taking the pot the yoritomo begins to evenly stir in the carrots and onions it looked like quite the tasty dinner was in the making. "I'll be sure to then."

"I saw all the tattoo's and charm he had so I figured he might of had it covered but I guess ya can never be too careful. Ya know if he's named those cats of his Yet? I heard somewhere that a cat without a name can breed ill luck as well."

[Volsung]

The older woman made a warding sign again. "I hope so. Hate to have to toss such small critters overboard but I will if I have to."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"Best to make sure then." He replied starting to think of names just in case they hadn't any yet. It was probably a good idea to make them extra lucky names as well just in case. He really didn't want to have to toss the poor things overboard after all

[Volsung]

"Goodness knows I have a hard enough time keeping Salt and Pepper away from them already. Kami know what that man was thinking bringing such young kittens onboard." The matron shook her head as she continued to watch her own pot.

"salt and Pepper keep me plenty busy and I can understand them just fine. Cats? How am I supposed to talk to cats?"

[Yoritomo Kaito]

He had heard the woman talking to ferrets and being as it looked like they understood and that she could turn people into fish as well it wasn't too much of a stretch that she could maybe talk to cats if she tried. "Well I can't say I know too much about talking to cats myself though you could try talking to Isawa-Gunso about it. He seems the like he might be one to know something about it."

"Course if Yoritomo-san talks him with im when he goes might be that you don't need to learn."

[Volsung]

"Oh I'm sure he can. I've seen that man talk to stranger than that." Supaisu looked around conspiratorially. "But that's a tale for another day I think." She grinned, then went back to work. "Besides, I can't learn how to talk to cats. That's just silly. I can only speak to Salt and Pepper because back in the days when I was on the Deathless I learned some of the rat speak."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"You'll have to tell me about that one day then." He replied still involved in stirring the soup. "You were aboard the deathless? I've only heard a few tales of it myself was it really fully crewed by nezumi?"

[Volsung]

"Hai but that must have been... oh. Ten years ago or more now." The cook thought it over a bit more. "Wasn't fully crewed by them rats then, but there were quite a number around. Always trying to steal my food too, little thieves."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"Huh, that must of been a interesting crew to sail with." He replied after a moment. "Did the rats eat the same thing as everyone else or did you have to make em something different?" He asked normal rats he knew would eat about anything but nezumi might be different.

[Volsung]

Supaisu laughed. "What do normal rats eat boy? Anything they can get their mits on. These were like bigger, smarter rats. They'd eat just about anything I threw at them and call it delicious. Hell of a crew though. Make some ships on one of the Storms blush with envy."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Kaito nodded if they were just like rats but bigger that meant they could likely scamper around like a rat which could be useful on a ship. Likely kinda smelly though at least after a ran or something. "I guess then that ferrets speak something similar to rats then? Since ya said you can talk to the ferrets since ya can speak a lil rat."

[Volsung]

Cook smiled and nodded. "Precisely. But I can't speak rat. I don't have their weird teeth. Just understand it. That does remind me of a man we had on my first ship that we all swore was half-rat. He had the biggest set of front teeth I've ever seen."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"I'd think he'd be a bit harrier then normal too if he was half rat." The mantis said after a moment of thought. "Course I could be wrong about that never met a Nezumi before or even a half Nezumi for that matter."

[Volsung]

Cook laughed. "Oh hai, he was a pretty hairy man as well as I recall." Finishing with her own pot, the woman looked down into the contents to check it idly as she spoke. "Well, they weren't too common to see before, and I've heard stories that they're all gone now."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

He frowned faintly at her words it might be interesting to meet a nezumi after all. "I've heard much the same myself that they all went of somewhere and disappeared or something of the like."

"Maybe I could ask some of teh crab about it from what I hear the crab saw more of em then most others. Could be that they know more of what happened to em all."

[Volsung]

Supaisu nods. "Hai they might. If you do, be sure to let me know." The cook shook her head a little. "At least I won't have to worry about them stealing all the food and anything shiny if they're well and truly gone though."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"True enough that." Remembering to make a note to tell the cook if he found out from the crab they really were gone. "So they liked to take shiny things too ya say? Dis they try to steal your knives and the like or just other things baubles and mirrors and such?"

[Volsung]

"Oh you bet. Gold, silver, anything shiny or that isn't bolted down. Though I heard once that a samurai that a Mantis who had a tooth made of gold woke up one morning to find it missing." Cook chuckled.

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"Heh, prolly best that there are none of those rats of this ship then. As many samurai around here with shiny things you'd have such a commotion when things started going missing." He shakes his head slightly. "It would like or not drive a man half crazy."

[Volsung]

Cook laughed at that. "At least there aren't too many places to hide things on a boat. And after awhile you'd know who to point at."
