(Moon 11, Aft Deck, Afternoon) Battleship, Group A

[Isawa Junpei]

Junpei arrived just in time to spy the sudden skirmish. Drawing his arms close to himself he instinctually cringed away from combat, though not so much as to flee entirely. He was certainly no coward. He'd faced down a rain of fire at Kyuden Isawa, but that did not mean he particularly liked conflict. Overcoming his instincts he stepped forward to join the group, sidling over the the massive Isawa, "Ah, Isawa-gunso, if I'm not interrupting, what's going on?"

[Shiba Naomi]

Naomi was surprised at the speed of the Bayushi and seemed very wow'ed at the demonstration of the speed the Scorpion were famous for.

It even made her forget what the ashigaru was supposed to demonstrate on the Bayushi to begin with...

[Isawa O-Washi]

"Ah, Cousin, good to see you above decks and a shade other than green." O-washi grinned at his fellow Isawa, then said, casually, "Bayushi-san there said he learned that knocking into a man in armor was a bad idea...this is meant to prove that it's not a bad idea at all, if you know the right way to do it. Dageki there does...but damn, that Scorpion's slippier than an eel.'

[Isawa Junpei]

He mentally grimaced at the mention of his illness, but had no real recourse so he nodded, listening to the rest of what O-Washi said. Watching the skirmish he wondered how today's lessons would go.

Dageki managed to keep a hold on his spear, barely. The cock-sure attitude disappeared slightly, he was apparently taking this one a bit more seriously now as he focused on the Scorpion, waiting for his moment to strike.

[Hida Sayuri]

Sayuri pays little attention to anything other than the conflict before here, ignoring the new arrivals.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

The Scorpion presses his assault on the man's spear, but does not let his guard down.

The strikes were fast, and precise, just not very powerful. Of course, the gunso probably WOULD get angry if he simply gutted the spearmen, easy as it would be....

The Ashigaru kept a firm grip on his spear as the Scorpion tried to disarm him again. Had he not the spear might have gone over the edge. After two bruising assaults though, the heimin finally gets his own turn to attack, sensing the perfect moment, he slides the spear forward, not bothering to use the wooden end as his opponent had chosen live steel as well.

He catches the Scorpion in the leg, though not nearly as badly as he could have, and it's not hard to see it. Then with a swift tug and a lift he attempts to push the Scorpion overboard.

[Shiba Nozomi]

Nozomi fidgets with the pendant on her necklace a bit as she watches them fight. That particular ashigaru really seemed to take great joy in what he did.

[Isawa O-Washi]

O-washi, to no one in particular, commented "See, now...that's why we have Dageki teach the yari..."

[Bayushi Kichirou]

"It truly is an impressive example of the art." Kichirou says as he makes his way into the crowd for the days lesson. This Scorpion had at least learned enough to leave his armor stowed for the time being. His hakama tied back a bit to give him some freedom of movement. His daisho was still at his hip however.

"I have no skill at all with the yari I'm afraid. Never had the chance or need to really learn....though I expect that is about to change." he continues with a grin and a bow to the Gunso.

[Isawa O-Washi]

A single searching glance was directed at the newly arrived Scorpion before returning to the fight. "I expect so, unless you fancy yourself a master of combat against the odds..."

[Bayushi Kichirou]

"Oh not at all Gunso. I like the odds well stacked in my favor thank you." Kichirou replies with a smile.

[Isawa O-Washi]

The corners of the Isawa's mouth went up in a smile. "Good...you'll enjoy the next part of the lesson, then."

[Hida Musasha]

The other Hida had arrived rather early (but the player was at work), and watched the Scorpion act with no discipline and callous disregard for his superiors and crew-mates. As quietly as his booming, gravelly voice could be, "Even if that un doesn't get a lesson today, he's gonna git one soon enough scrubbin' the bilge if he don' shape up."

His armor gleamed with oil, and the straps that showed were very well tended as well.

[Yasuki Himiko]

The Yasuki had been sitting on a railing, watching quietly. At some point, she walks up to O-Washi, bowing. "Pardon, Isawa-sama, but would ye mind if I get a round o' this once the Scorpion is done? Haven't had a good spar since I left crab lands, and I rather loathe the idea of getting rusty."

[Isawa O-Washi]

Once again, the big man spared only a glance, though a thorough one, for the one who spoke to him. It didn't seem dismissive so much as a matter of the big man not wanting to miss part of what was going on. "Don't worry...everyone's going to get a bit of combat in today. "

[Yasuki Himiko]

There was an almost feral grin from Himiko as she cracked her knuckles. "Good."

[Isawa O-Washi]

That got a wider grin onto the gunso's face.

"Since you're so eager...go and get whatever weapon you fancy. If it's the blade, fetch a bokken instead."

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko nodded and stepped forward, but instead of looking for any sort of conventional weapon, she looked around the floors and such, apparently looking for something more along the lines of a busted piece of rope or something of that nature.
