[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Upon hearing talk of duties, Rinzuk turns her attention towards the captain's conversation, her brown eyes watching the two with great interest from over the lip of her cup.

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"Your papers mentioned that and we can always use a dedicated healer," he replies easily as he makes a gesture towards one of the tables, "Have you eaten? If you haven't, you ought to try some of the seafood stew. It's a port specialty."

"O-Washi-san's been doing double duty in that regard. If you haven't talked to him, you should. He can show you where most of your work will be. Have you manned a ship this size before?" Uminishui didn't seem to notice her nervousness, speaking as casually about her duties as another would about a walk in the park.

[Hida Musasha]

Coming up the gangplank in his roughspun heads a rather large man, and in his hand is a small package that he seems unwilling to let go of, causing it to shrivel in his grasp.

He notices the gathering, and bows to the assembled samurai before tucking the package into his obi. "Hmm, food. Don't mind if I do."

He walks over and begins to eat almost anything that is offered to him, in great quantities.

[Shiba Nozomi]

His calm, professional (or what passes for it readily on a ship) manner seems to help diffuse her anxieties a bit. "Ah...I haven't tried it, no." Nozomi's unsettling gaze flicks upwards towards the food momentarily.

"And I'll speak to... O-washi-sama? As soon as possible." Rubbing her nose lightly, she continues on to his next question, mentally cataloging the name mentioned.

"And hai, once or twice. Eto...the Phoenix have only a few ships this size... but my cousin managed to get me stationed on one for a while. And then I was transferred to a Mantis one..." She fails to mention that it had been poorly led, as both the Mantis and Phoenix aboard had some very distinctly different ideas as to how things should have been done. Nozomi had spent most of her time ignoring the higher-ups and just patching up whomever had gotten thrown into her sickbay. It was a situation that suited her sensibilities just fine, but rarely made friends in the telling.

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

"Yes, O-washi-san," he replies with the beginnings of a grin. Uminishui's hand lifts, drawing the eye as he makes a gesture, "Yae high. Small mountain of an Isawa... laughs a lot. I think you'll like him."

He listens as he leads the way to a table. "Hrm. Well, I might be Mantis but I certainly don't run my ship as my brother's do."

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko had been spending her time sipping away at the hopefully never-ending sake. She was pacing herself tonight, largely because no one had approached her yet to challenge her to a drinking contest. Naturally, she kampai'd when it was appropriate to, and there was a rather enthused grin always on her face. Someone was excited to be on this duty.

[Shiba Nozomi]

She follows him, trailing a few steps behind, but having no issues with balance whatsoever. Her face falls slightly when he mentions O-Washi's family name and she does her best to hide it. "A...an Isawa? I see."

"I look forward t-to seeing more of your style of leadership, then, Yoritomo-Captain."

[Yoritomo Uminushi]

With how... petite Nozomi was, hiding her expression simply required her to duck her head. Who said that being short was always a disadvantage? He chuckles and corrects, "Just Captain's fine. Only one of me on this boat."

Briefly the Mantis' hand lifts and pats the girl on the head.

"Don't worry, Shiba-san. Things'll be fine and try to enjoy yourself tonight mmm?

[Shiba Nozomi]

In response to both, she merely nods and replies, "Hai, Captain."

She briefly wonders if this means she can go back below deck and grab her book, then decides it probably didn't. Taking his words (and the pat) as a dismissal, she bows, and moves over to the food table, curious to try the stew he had suggested.

[Yasuki Himiko]

After a couple of minutes, Himiko picked up her sake and walked over to where her Hida cousin was seated. She plopped down across from him, setting the bottle down between them. "Hida-sama," she spoke rather frankly, clearly aiming to have his attention without any fancy greetings or any of that formal nonsense.

[Hida Musasha]

The man looks up, a mouthful of stew still being chewed upon.

"What?"

After a few breaths, he adds, "...Yasuki-sama..." It is pretty obvious that he didn't add that part naturally.

[Shiba Nozomi]

Grabbing herself a moderately sized bowl of stew, Nozomi finds a nondescript place in the general orbit of the two huge (to her) Crab and tucks in. Nibbling on the stew, which she was finding rather tasty, she watches with some fascination what will likely be an entertaining turn of events.

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

The Agasha had made his way to the rail and was seriously considering tipping his sake cup over the side, but experience of short resources in the past stayed his hand. After all sake had more uses than just drinking. His hand strayed to one of the ever present pillow books on his person before stopping just short.

No, that would be rude. Better be sociable on the first day at least.

He moved back to the main party of bodies before once again being distracted, this time by studying the ship itself for the best places to land a lightning bolt for maximum damage on such a vessel. It always paid to be prepared.

[Shiba Naomi]

"The Deathless has been an inspiration to me, so I am glad the tales reached your lands as well Shiba-san." He notes the change in her experession but doesn't pry. "Neither did I, but then one should always be careful with their preconceptions. I'm sure Akodo-no-kami or Sun Tao wrote something about that." His smile is infectious, if unexpected on a Lion.

"Ah, perhaps so..." she wouldn't admit that she never really had read any of those two.
Her eyes glanced briefly around them. Oh Heavens, are we the only ones actually carrying a conversation, apart from the Captain and Nozomi? ... Maybe the others are being too seasick for it?

"Serving in the Naval forces of the Lion army must have been quite an exciting adventure, Akodo-sama. Perhaps you have stories to share with the rest of the crew?"

[Yasuki Himiko]

She offered what would presumably be a bow, though certainly not the most refined looking bow the Hida might ever have seen in his life.

[Akodo Jishaku]

"Ah, perhaps so..." she wouldn't admit that she never really had read any of those two.
Her eyes glanced briefly around them. Oh Heavens, are we the only ones actually carrying a conversation, apart from the Captain and Nozomi? ... Maybe the others are being too seasick for it?

"Serving in the Naval forces of the Lion army must have been quite an exciting adventure, Akodo-sama. Perhaps you have stories to share with the rest of the crew?"

"Well I'm no Omoidasu..." But don't think that'll stop me. "... but there was that one time, a few years back, when I actually got to see the Deathless! We were sent in to help evacuate our people stuck in Otosan Uchi. Of course it later became apparent that we were just the distraction, what with our ships being insufficient to the task, but still it was a special day." The story goes on for a bit. There is lots of righteous slaying, a bit of skullduggery from the bad guys, some more slaying, lots more righteousness, some hero worship and a bit of rescuing. All in all a rousing tale of the sort one might hear from a young soldier. "And then we killed them and sailed away. Our ancestors were proud of us that day I can tell you." He smiles at the Phoenix, hoping she wasn't too bored with his tale. Looking around at the other crew members he shrugs and raises his cup. "Well anyway, here's to our first victory together!"

[Shiba Naomi]

Naomi gave the Akodo her full attention as he told his tale, occassionaly giving a soft exclamation of surprise, awe or shock according to what was told.

As he raised his cup in a toast, she, somewhat hesitantly, followed suit. "It will be an honor to stand beside you, but I pray we shall have a peaceful voyage."

Oh dear... my first battle... I can't admit to a Lion I've never seen combat before.

[Hida Musasha]

Himiko snorted a very unladlylike snort. "I ain't no one's Sama, Hida-san, 'specially not here. All us trainee's are on equal footing, after all. Name's Yasuki Himiko." She offered what would presumably be a bow, though certainly not the most refined looking bow the Hida might ever have seen in his life.

He shrugs, then bows, a set of motions that reveal there isn't an ounce of body fat upon his solid frame. "Just repeatin' what you said, girly. I ain't big on niceties either, but I ain't worked with the rest of the world yet, and I'm tryin' ta learn how ta be respectable." He refrains from chewing while speaking, but pressed the food into his cheeks instead, making him appear an overfed and greedy chipmunk.

[Yasuki Himiko]

Himiko laughs a bit. "Not sure we'll have to worry to much about that here. Bein' respectable's too much work, regardless. I'd rather drink." She nodded to her sake bottle. "You strike me as someone that can hold his liquor. Care to share a few drinks?"

[Hida Musasha]

He shrugs, "Sure, ain't got no where ta be tonight. Not setting sail until tomorra, and we are just pups til the Taisa says otherwise anyways. Don't want ta make a mess o' myself, tho. Stop me if I start talkin' about killin' things fer fun."
