(Moon 14, Afternoon, Crew Quarters) Triage

[Yoritomo Kaito]

The mantis observed the woman carefully as she wrapped his arm it hadn't hurt but that was probably because he hadn't been injured. "I think I see how it's done now tight but not too tight huh. Thank you Iuchi-san." He said returning the young woman's smile with one of his own.

With that he began to unwrap the Hida's bandages in preparation to wrap it again. Taking a deep breath and concentrating he then begins to wrap the bandages in a way to be sure to make the procedure painful but leave the bandages tight but not too tight. Which seemed to work amazingly well for the mantis. Though likely questionably well for the crab.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Rinzuki clasps her hands together and bounces in excitement. "Well done, Yoritomo-sama!"

"Now, let us assume that Hida-sama's lower arm has been ripped clean from its elbow socket by some sort of tentacle monster. How would you stop the bleeding?"

[Daidoji Fuichi]

Fuichi looked to the Asahina to be certain that he had heard Rinzuki's latest example correctly. Tentacle Monster? Really?

[Kaiu Seiko]

Rinzuki clasps her hands together and bounces in excitement. "Well done, Yoritomo-sama!"

"Now, let us assume that Hida-sama's lower arm has been ripped clean from its elbow socket by some sort of tentacle monster. How would you stop the bleeding?"

Seiko tried not to stare at Rinzuki after that example. She definitely wasn't interested in playing the part of patient or medic now.

[Kakita Sugita]

The bandage is taken hesitantly. "I think I got what you said. Some of it anyway." Sugita had to lean in closer and really concentrate. "Gotta speak up on a ship. The ocean is loud. ... And so are all these people."

"Anyway..." Ankle? Bandage? K. "Knees? Sure." The way Sugita wraps the bandage he must think tightness is the most important thing. There are few other qualities.

Coughing nervously, she attempts to quell the misgivings she has about this whole "teaching" thing. Another deep breath, and she speaks up as much as she can.

"Erm... Y-you've got the ri-right idea about c-compression, it will r-reduce swelling. But m-making it that t-tight restricts the f-flow of qi through the b-body, creating b-bl-blockages which will c-cause problems elsewhere."

She shows the Kakita how to bandage in a way that will compress, add support to the weak limb, and won't restrict the flow of humors. Her hands shake a bit out of nervousness, and she finds it ironic that her bandage and splint is not quite as well done as her student Lion's. In embarrassment, her face seems to become brushed with a light pink color, most of it hidden by the tan of her skin.

"Uh-huh..." Right over his head. "Qi? With a bandage? What about blood?"

[Shiba Nozomi]

Nozomi nods and takes another steadying breath. "W-well, Qi and b-blood work along s-similar pathways. You w-want to st-staunch the bleeding, yes, b-but not cut the limb off f-from the f-f-flow of the body's e-energy. The body has the ca-capacity to heal itsuh-self, but the energy m-must be able to flow sm-smoothly for that to happen."

She looks at his lost expression. Too advanced... "Er... you d-don't want the bu-bandage to be so t-tight the limb w-will... um...fall asleep. M-makes it heal s-slower."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Rinzuki clasps her hands together and bounces in excitement. "Well done, Yoritomo-sama!"

"Now, let us assume that Hida-sama's lower arm has been ripped clean from its elbow socket by some sort of tentacle monster. How would you stop the bleeding?"

The lady really liked those tentacle monsters maybe he'd have to try to catch some squid or such for her to eat. "Well I guess you might put pressure on it to try to get the bleeding to stop try and tie it off real tight?"

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Rinzuki nods and points to a place on Musasha's upper arm. "Correct, you'll want to do so about here or so for the arms, or high up on the thigh for a leg wound. But if you leave them tied off for too long, the limb will have to be removed."

She turns back to Kaito. "But, if you have reason to believe that the wound was caused by something tainted, you should always make it your first priority to press jade up against the wound. It doesn't always work, but by the time he reaches the healer, it will be too late to do anything in any case."

[Asahina Narumi]

Narumi replies with a shrug, slightly confused. Why not just say octopus or squid.

[Yoritomo Kaito]

The mantis nodded once at the Iuchi's word focused on trying to remember where exactly to tie it off to stop the blood. At the mention of jade he frowns slightly he hadn't brought any with him. Looks like he'd have to find out who all had when he got the chance for it.

"I think I got that well enough Iuchi-san." He said at last with a nod of his head. "Ya figure there is anything else I should know about such wounds?"

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"That should be enough for now," she says with a smile. "Anything more serious than that, just fetch a healer."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"Alright then." The mantis says as he backs away to give the other two more room. "Thank you for your assistance Hida-san and for teaching me the basics Iuchi-san." He says with a polite bow to the pair.

[Hida Musasha]

Musasha half returns the bow, having been partially mummified had his movement range reduced a bit.

[Kakita Sugita]

[Usagi Zenko]

"While the injuries are minor, treatment will help ward off any secondary effects that could set in."

"Correct. You don't want any residual effects coming back to bite you in the rear later." She nodded mostly to herself while she assessed the damage to his foot. "Well, you're right in that it doesn't look too bad. See this spot here?" Chihiroko indicated with a point of her finger. "Until it's fully healed, be careful not to land on again."

Then she pulled out the bandages and set about wrapping his injury. The Moshi went slowly to show the others how to properly do it. "Any questions?"

"Hmm..okay." He nods peering at the spot she was talking about. "Good to know. Lots of landing in the Usagi style...although not usually from so high." He smiles. "Will have to keep a little lighter on my feet a few days."

[Shiba Nozomi]

Sugita quirks a brow. "Who'd a'thunk. So just tight enough then."

She gives him a small encouraging smile. "Hai. W-with that in m-mind, try it again?"

[Kakita Sugita]

Must I? ... "OK then," he replies with an elaborate fake smile. The job he does is mediocre at best.

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Done with his own learning the mantis glances around the room for a few moments to see how the others were. Seeing the crane he had met the previous night having previous havign trouble similar to his he ponders going over. Mayhaps I should tell him he has to make sure to manhandle the patient a bit. if you don't hurt em a bit while doing it it will never work.

[Shiba Nozomi]

This wasn't so bad... too bad she couldn't maintain the volume and reduce her tendency to stutter at the same time... Ah well... everyone had things they needed to work on. She takes another even breath in preparation for what she was to say next.

"M-minor cuts and sc-scrapes don't r-require this much w-work, for the m-most part just make s-sure they're clean. F-for something m-major, though... like s-say, an arrow w-wound, don't try and p-pull the arrow out. Just bu-break off the shaft, l-leave the p-point in, and apply pressure w-with a clean cloth until y-you can get to a h-healer."

She really didn't want to have to suture together some of the nasty wounds that came from people ripping arrows out of themselves. Especially those awful ones they called fleshcutters.
