(Moon 14, Afternoon, Crew Quarters) Triage

[Kaiu Seiko]

Broken legs aren't like broken masts. Broken masts don't... bleed.

Seiko repressed a shudder.

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

A smile to the Iuchi.

"Lower leg, assume both bones. There are plenty of things onboard that could result in a crushing injury after all."

[Iuchi Xiao Hua]

"Very well, if you would pleas lie down as such patient would then, Agasha-san?" the man asked, taking a hold of few sticks and a bandage to make a splint. "Open or closed fracture?"

[Shiba Nozomi]

The bandage is taken hesitantly. "I think I got what you said. Some of it anyway." Sugita had to lean in closer and really concentrate. "Gotta speak up on a ship. The ocean is loud. ... And so are all these people."

"Anyway..." Ankle? Bandage? K. "Knees? Sure." The way Sugita wraps the bandage he must think tightness is the most important thing. There are few other qualities.

Coughing nervously, she attempts to quell the misgivings she has about this whole "teaching" thing. Another deep breath, and she speaks up as much as she can.

"Erm... Y-you've got the ri-right idea about c-compression, it will r-reduce swelling. But m-making it that t-tight restricts the f-flow of qi through the b-body, creating b-bl-blockages which will c-cause problems elsewhere."

She shows the Kakita how to bandage in a way that will compress, add support to the weak limb, and won't restrict the flow of humors. Her hands shake a bit out of nervousness, and she finds it ironic that her bandage and splint is not quite as well done as her student Lion's. In embarrassment, her face seems to become brushed with a light pink color, most of it hidden by the tan of her skin.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"Ah I guess a lil more practice wouldn't hurt after all." With that said the mantis begins to unwrap the Hida's shoulder in order to do the whole wrapping procedure all over again. This time making a horrible mess of the procedure.

"Umm..." Rinzuki bites her lip as she watches him. "Maybe...you should give that another try."

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

"Very well, if you would pleas lie down as such patient would then, Agasha-san?" the man asked, taking a hold of few sticks and a bandage to make a splint. "Open or closed fracture?"

"We'll go with closed for now, and then perhaps we could explain the difference between the two types for others to remember, but this is just basic medicine."

He swung his legs around from his kneeling position and laid down on the deck.

"But we should remember that one with a broken leg is not just going to lay there and let you do this. Unless they are unconscious."

[Iuchi Xiao Hua]

"Well, one with a broken leg is not going to exactly run away either. Or stand in a spot." he chuckled, smiling to the man.

"Open fracture happens when a fracture bony punches through the skin. Very nasty, very messy and tends heal poorly. Closed fracture is the opposite, where the bones broke, but do no break the surrounding matter. In a case of an open fracture, you'll want to stem the blood flow as well. Though, do not apply pressure on the wound itself, rather tie something above the joint above the fracture. " The man explained the audience.

Taking the splints, he based two of them around the Agasha's legs, making sure they reached above his knee and all the way down to his ankle.

"Ideally, splint makes the damaged part, arm or a leg, immobile. We achieve this by fixating the splint above the joint above the injury, in this case, the knee, and below the joint below the injury, in this case the angle." he added, slowly binding the two joints to the man's leg at the spots he had indicated.

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Qian-Fan nodded along to the explanation, but he didn't stay still to make things easy for the Iuchi.

"The patient will rarely hold still for this, as they will most likely be in a great deal of pain. Also, do not concern yourselves with putting the bones back in place. The true medics will set the bone later in the sick bay. The deck, in the midst of battle is hardly the place for bone surgery."

Qian-Fan nodded along to the explanation, but he didn't stay still to make things easy for the Iuchi.

Seiko heard the Phoenix quite clearly.

She wished she had not.

People are not like ships. They should be more like ships. Ships don't scream. They also don't have bones that stick out all over the place when broken.

Qian-Fan nodded along to the explanation, but he didn't stay still to make things easy for the Iuchi.

Xiao Hua only nodded, approvingly. "They can also call the kami to knit the flesh, if needed. The job of the splint is to keep the bones from coming out, or if they are out already, to keep them moving too much."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"Umm..." Rinzuki bites her lip as she watches him. "Maybe...you should give that another try."

"Alright Iuchi-san." He replied half convinced that as long as there was bandages on it it would be fine but willing to do it again anyways. Before with dogged determination trying to do it a third time.

You know Iuchi-san... I'm beginin to think healing people aint the line of work for me." He said at last as he looked at his handiwork.

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"...perhaps not. But...knowing one's limitations is a blessing, mmm?"

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"That's true enough Iuchi-san." He said his eyes still on his handiwork. "Don't think I have ever met anyone that was good at everything they did after all."

"Did ya want me to try it again or see if anyone else needed a bit of practice?"

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Rinzuki looks around to see if anyone else wanted to step up and give the bandaging a try.

"If you wish, you may try again, Yoritomo-sama. I do not expect Hida-sama to wander off in boredom anytime soon."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Well It couldn't hurt him at least maybe the crab but as big as the man was likely not him either. "Might as well then if I do it enough times I might get good at it just off sheer number of times I've done it." He replied as he started to go through the process of unwrapping then rewrapping the shoulder.

It was slightly better then the two previous times but still far away worse then the first but that was a kind of a improvement right? "Do you wrap em up similar to this if they are bleeding Iuchi-san or is there a different way for that?"

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

"In both cases," she says, moving next to Kaito and adjusting his bandages a bit, "the most important thing is that it's tight."

[Yoritomo Kaito]

"Tight huh?" Maybe that has been his problem the bandages weren't tight enough. Remembering the process the woman used to set the bone in place he nodded slightly. That was it you just had to hurt the person while you were doing it. Not cause more harm likely just make sure your ministrations were painful.

"One last time?"

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

Rinzuki nods and motions for Kaito to give her his arm. "Care for a demonstration?"

[Yoritomo Kaito]

Kaito nods couldn't hurt to see it even if he thought he knew the trick to it now. "That would be kind of you Iuchi-san."

[Iuchi Rinzuki]

With the skill of a trained combat medic, Rinzuki quickly and efficiently wraps Kaito's arm in a tight layer of bandages.

"Just like this, see? You want it tight enough to hold the wound closed, but not so tight that it cuts of the circulation of blood to the extremities."

She pats his arm and smiles up at him.
