[Moon 10, Morning - Aftdeck] GROUP A - Fashion 101

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Qian-Fan would have preferred a short rest before returning to the hauling, but recognising that folks going overboard were not going to politely wait for him to catch his breath and handed the end of the rope to Kichirou.

"You try the throw this time."

[Bayushi Kichirou]

Taking the rope with a grin to the Phoenix Kichirou braces himself against the railing as he tosses the rope over, "Heads up cousin!" he yells down even as the life line is falling into the sea.

[Shiba Naomi]

((OOC: Do we just roll once? Can we just roll now and stick it in our PFs, or wait our turn? Oh, and will raises make us do a "faster" or "better" job, or is there no effect? ^^))

Naomi made sure her hair was properly secured with the ribbon she used, so she wouldn't suddenly have hair flying in her face when she had to pull her crewmates out of the water.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Away from the eyes of the Gunso, Nobuyoshi tries to gauge just how hard it is to climb back up sans rope.

Like a little black and red sea spider he climbs back up the hull.

No rope, nor help needed here apparently.

However, not wanting to get yet another lecture from the Gunso, he bides his time to clamor back up on to the deck, hoping that the Scorpion and Phoenix teammates can make as good a show on their end.

[Isawa Junpei]

Junpei took only a second to compose himself after getting the Hida aboard before making his way over to the Moshi woman. He skimmed the surface of the deck, drawing himself as close as possible without landing, and glided straight into her presence with a bow, "Here, Moshi-gunso. Ready."

[Bayushi Kichirou]

From his position against the railing Kichirou had the perfect spot to watch Nobuyoshi attempt to climb up the side of the ship. A wide smile forms across his face as he begins to haul the rope through the water to his fellow Scorpion, "Take hold! We'll try and pull you up when you're secure!" he calls down.

[Shiba Nozomi]

Finding a place along the railing that is not currently swarmed with people, Nozomi climbs over the rail, sitting on top of it for a moment as she looks back at the other two.

"I'll g-go first..." she offers helpfully. It would let the other two get the hang of using the ropes on something light and, hopefully, easy.

Assuming nobody stops her, she pushes her feet against the balustrade to make sure she clears the edge of the ship and lands with a splash in the water. Enfolded in the warmth of the ocean and surrounded by the bubbles of her fall, Nozomi bobs lightly in the gentle waves, completely unperturbed. Wiping her bangs away from her face, she turns her gaze upwards expectantly.

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Qian-Fan, on the end of the rope, could not see the other Scorpion though, so just prepares to haul on the rope once Kichirou begins.

Of course it was possible to scale the side of the ship. But there were reasons it wasn't done. Barnacles for one. They had this tendency to shred hands... and gloves.

[Moshi Kaimenko]

Kaimenko takes one end of the coil of rope she's holding, expression as stony and unwelcoming as ever. "Watch my hands, Isawa-san. I'm going to teach you a knot and you're going to teach it to everyone after they've taken their swims."

Her calloused hands move to form the simple and serviceable knot. She didn't rush the process, but did it slowly so Junpei could track the movements. Kaimenko showed the knot to the Phoenix thrice, before handing him the rope, "Practice it a few times."

Once he had taken the rope, she turns her attention back to the trainees. Her eyes narrow as she watches them.

As Naomi got her hands on the rope, she nimbly tied its end into a prepared knot for Nozomi, so she only needed to tighten it around herself rather than struggle with the rope in the water to make a knot. It didn't take long and it was soon tossed overboard to Nozomi.
"Give us the word when you're ready, Nozomi-san!" She readied herself (hopefully with Himiko ^^ ) to haul Nozomi up.

[Isawa Junpei]

Junpei looked at the rope, trying to remember exactly what the Moshi had done.

Okay, first this goes through here and then this other one goes through here and then lastly I...

He pulled on both ends of the rope presumably to make a simple double loop knot, Instead, it pulled straight out. Junpei's eyes went wide.

You...have...got...to be....KIDDING ME!

He raised his eyes to the sky and shook his head. Taking in a long, deep breath, he looked back down at the traitorous rope and then at the back of Moshi Kaimenko. Letting the rope hang in one hand he brought his hand to his face, "Uhh," he took a more decorous posture, "Moshi-gunso...could I see that one more time."

[Shiba Nozomi]

It's quick work for Nozomi to grab the rope and before long the Shiba has it adjusted around herself. A couple of gentle but firm tugs on the rope indicated her readiness to be hauled up.

Not having to fuss with tying knots while having waves try and kiss your face was pretty nice.

[Moshi Kaimenko]

Her expression was stone-faced, a hardness in her eyes that did not bode well for whoever was unfortunate enough to have caught her attention. However, Junpei didn't even get a sneer from the woman as she held her hand out for the rope. Once it was in her possession again, she demonstrated the knot without even looking at it. It was still that same, slow, and almost graceful movement.

"Do you need to see it again?"

[Isawa Junpei]

He watched with even greater precision than he had before. He would be damned if he was going to keep getting this wrong over and over and over. It was only a matter of time before Kaimenko would simply have enough and throw him into the sea, preferably with a bucket of chum. "No...I think I got it this time."

[Moshi Kaimenko]

"Good, practice it while we wait and see if you can't do it without looking at your hands. Sometimes that actually helps."

[Isawa Junpei]

Junpei took back the rope giving a nodding bow the Kaimenko. That...that was almost kind of her. He tried not to dwell on it and instead set about trying to remake the knot. Though it was slow the first time he tied it well enough to call it a knot. Taking it apart he tried again. Everything he'd learned he'd learned by rote. Repetition was his friend and so, until someone was finished being pulled out of the water he hovered tying and untying the knot as many times as he could.

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi clamors back up on the deck. His gloves would need to be mended by a tailor before they were court suitable again, but he seemed to be hale and hearty enough, though damp.

That left setting the bird of the group swimming, and his life wholly in the hands of two scorpions.

[Agasha Qian-Fan]

Qian-Fan looked at the rope he'd been hauling and then at Nobuyoshi and his eyes narrow. Dropping the rope, he nods to the two Scorpion and walks calmly to the edge of the deck. With a sigh and a last look at the fine silks he'd put on today, he dives off the side of the kobune into the briny sea below.

Dive, ok. Entry, small splash. End result, puddle of wet orange silk with an unhappy shugenja fighting to stay afloat.
