Day 4, Late Morning, Open, Training even among savages

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi nods.

"While the sword is the preferred weapon of our people, some of the clans are known for utilizing others." Nobuyoshi offers. "A Crab with a tetsubo is not particularly graceful to watch at all, but there is something to be said for being able to shatter a man's armor and the man within with a single strike."

[Volsung]

The Kshatriya raises an eyebrow. "A testobo? Is that like a parashu? Or perhaps a gada? We have some who wield such weapons here as well. There are many ways to defend your lords, after all. One must know many ways to do so."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi shrugs.

"I'm not familiar with those words. Do you have any of them around?" Nobuyoshi asks.

[Volsung]

Dhaval looked around the yard for a moment, pointing first to a rather large wicked looking axe that one of the warriors was carrying on one naked shoulder. In fact he didn't have a shirt on at all while he was training. "Parashu." He looks around some more, finding what looked like a heavy metal ball on the end of a stick that was a mace. "Gada."

He turned and looked back at Nobuyoshi's own weapon. "And what do they call that?"

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi nods.

"Gada is kind of like a tetsubo, Parashu is more like an Ono." Nobuyoshi clarifies.

He gestures to the longer of the sheathed swords.

"Katana."

He gestures to the shorter of the sheathed swords.

"Wakizashi"

[Volsung]

Dhaval mouths the words to himself, as though feeling out the sound of the words before he speaks them. It is a very deliberate motion, and one that takes a few tries before he feels confident enough to put voice to it.. "Katana, wakizashi." He says them correct, for the most part.

"We have many swords, but the most used is the talwar. Similar in looks to your katana. But different."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi shrugs.

"They're more than just swords. Forging them is an artform in itself. They're passed down from generation to generation, and are still sharp enough to slice right through people." Nobuyoshi explains. "Do the....Kshatriya....have similar traditions?"

[Volsung]

"Some. Holy weapons though. Weapons used by the gods. Very powerful, not meant for use by just anyone."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Hmmm, I wonder what the shugenja on the crew would have to say about weapons personally used by heathen gods? Nobuyoshi wonders.

"Such weapons would surely have stories told about them then." Nobuyoshi offers, trying to draw a little information out of the Kosala scholar.

[Volsung]

Dhaval laughed. "That is like saying that rain falls from the sky and gold comes from the ground, Nobuyoshi of House Bayushi. I have heard that your gods have also walked this realm, long ago. They carried powerful weapons and armor themselves, did they not?"

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Nobuyoshi nods.

"That is true, perhaps at some later time you would be interested in an exchange of stories? Nobuyoshi asks.

[Volsung]

Dhaval nodded. "Perhaps indeed. We must always collect more information. Knowledge is power." The kshatriya grinned. "Who knows, maybe it will even survive to the coming age."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

Hmmm, I wonder if their ages run in thousand year groups too." Nobuyoshi ponders.

"Perhaps, Dhaval of House Kosala," Nobuyoshi agrees. "If not, at least the time will have been enjoyably spent."

"Speaking of time, I should probably head out. I want to see more of the city than the training grounds before the sun sets."

Nobuyoshi offers another bow to Dhaval.

"Thank you for both the use of your training grounds, and for the conversation. Hopefully, we will have time for another before shore leave is over."

[Volsung]

Dhaval performed a namaste in return. "IT was at that, and I had a decent run of it, though there were a few more maids I would have liked to take to my bed." The kshatriya chuckles. "I look forward to our next meeting, Nobuyoshi of House Bayushi. In this life or the next."

[Bayushi Nobuyoshi]

After making his goodbyes, there's naught left for the Scorpion to do but...

Once the Scorpion and his translator are gone, Dhaval turned to his compatriots and went back to his training, to get ready for the battle that was to come.
