After the earlier debacle searching for his clanmate Kichirou had taken the Kasuga's advice. Changed into the clothes he usually wore on deck but still armed with his daisho the Scorpion had made his way to one of the watchtowers. His hope was simple. Either he would find some information that might lead him into some kind of direction or he would at least get a better understanding of the city from a higher perspective.
To facilitate either or possibly both of his goals he had brought with him one of the local embassy's translators.

Haku pushed through the gale force winds and rain with a grim sort of determination, following behind the Scorpion. However, as soon as the Watchtower came in to sight. The young man stopped. He shouts above to be heard, "Bayushi-sama, this is not advisable!"

The Scorpion stopped and turned, holding the brim of his hat against the wind, "Explain to me why." he asked flatly. Truthfully Kichirou wasn't all that good at grim and hard and cold. But he'd been getting now where lately with jovial.

"There was an incident early this morning and the guards might not be very welcoming," the man replies despite the glare and the flat tone. He had no desire to repeat Sampo's experiences. Self-preservation, even heimen had it.

"Do you think they would deny us shelter from this storm?" he asks his tone softer, more genuinely inquisitive. Even as he asks the question Kichirou begins to look about for some kind of cover. Making progress towards a goal was a good enough reason to be out in the rain. Just standing out in the open and talking was not.

"I do not know what angry gaijin will do," came the honest reply, "And I do not wish to find out."
There, to the side, was an awning hastily abandoned with the storm. It swayed and dipped and didn't look as if it provided much protection but it must certainly be better than standing out in the open as the rain drove angrily in to the ground.

Moving over to the awning Kichirou stopped to consider the situation, "Tell me what you know of this incident. Also what your impressions of these gaijin guards are both in general and of late." he begins not looking at the guide but towards the watchtower.

"I'm not at liberty to discuss the particulars," the ashigaru replies stiffly, "Their guards are efficient and know what they're doing. I doubt that's changed despite the refugees filtering in to the city. They are wary of attack and do what any warrior in the Empire would when preparing for war or an attack."

"We'll need to find better shelter." Kichirou says looking back to the ashigaru, "I know nothing of these people, or this city. If I can't find answers at the watchtower I would like to ask you questions somewhere...dryer." Despite the weather the Scorpion's mood did seem to lighten a bit, at least whatever cloud had been hanging over his mood was shifting.

"Might I suggest heading back to the embassy, Bayushi-sama...?"
