[Day 4 - Late Morning] So this is the Ivory Kingdoms? (Open)

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"You have rather strange hobbies ne Yoritomo-san? I've heard it's commonplace for the Unicorn to know foreign languages as it's likely part of their lineage but a strange one to take up one that you have little association with unless by purpose. Good preparation though. Who would have thought it'd come useful on a first mission"

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

"At first it was mostly just a hobby, but once I had a basic understanding of the language, and some knowledge of the kingdom, it made it very likely that I would be chosen for assignments like this. So I figured it would be best to be fully prepared... Well, plus I really respect and enjoy my time with my great grandfather."

Choukichi shrugs his shoulders after giving the justification for spending much of his youth with his beloved great grandfather.

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"-Ah, gomen. I was probably too quick to jump. It does makes it much less strange when it's time spent with an elder, in wisdom or treasured knowledge. It's not often many samurai get to spend time with their great grand sires either. That's good for you Yoritomo-san."

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

"Yes, I consider it a true blessing to be able to spend time with my revered elder, and I pray every day for his continued good health so that when I return I can share stories with him of my own time here."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

Hoshi didn't want to make assumptions that the Yoritomo elder passed away on bad form, but she didn't feel guilty thinking about it...

There was a lift of her brows and nearly blurted out her response. "Your elder must be blessed by Jurojin-kami...if I may say so without invoking his disfavour. Is all of your family so naturally healthy?"

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

Choukichi chuckles at her response.

"Oh, yes he is indeed. The rest of us are healthy enough, but Kimihiro Oji-san surprises us all every year by continuing to offer the empire his wisdom."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Now you have me interested in what other accomplishments your great grand father has done Yorimoto-san." She said with a good mood in her tone, she lifted a hand to wave off the idea. "-Ah. Probably for another time though. It wouldn't be fair of me to take up what could be the whole day."

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

Choukichi smiles and nods his head.

"Hai, another time perhaps, once we are back on the ship maybe. I think he would be cross with me if I wasted my whole trip to the Ivory Kingdoms, telling other samurai about his."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Naturally he would want you to find some enjoyment or indulgence from your stay here. Above your required duty. Tales of your own would be worth much in both your elder and new generation."

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

Choukichi nods his head.

"But I think that's enough about me for now. If I may ask, what brings you to the Legion? Seeing my own kin here never surprises me, but your clan is not so well known for a love of the sea as mine."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Mm. If not the seas, there is still a love of water." And she wasn't trying to be cute with that fable, at least not obviously so. "I cannot speak for my cousins but being stationed in Ryoko Owari Toshi for some time earned me the hobby of freshwater raft sailing on the River of Gold. There is also the duty of watching Tear Drop Isle as well. Rivers are not as vast as the seas but I'm not a stranger to water. Here is just a lot more of it."

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

"Ah, well it is good to hear you aren't working now in an environment that you dislike or are completely unused to. How do the seas compare to the rivers, I should hope the only difference isn't jsut the amount of water."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Scale, for one...any many reasons really. With the rivers, you at least have the comforts of solid land nearby. There's less of a safety net with the seas. Because of it there's a lot less...of a human element here, bandits on land, as a trade off but it's not like they come as a rarity on the seas. Ice however, is a problem during the winter and make travelling impossible except for the most heartier of ships. I think winter is also avoided for sea ships too aren't they?"

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

"The winter season is prone to numerous storms, we still do some sailing, but try to limit it."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

"Duty at sea, also requires one to live in it. On freshwater, it's far so forgiving. I may have experience there but I was never required to be a sailor as a duty. That convenience is in the past of course. Now it almost feels like a constant winter from the preservatives on the menu."

[Yoritomo Choukichi]

"Oh, don't care for the food? Some of the best i've had in years."

[Bayushi Hoshi]

She gave the Mantis two glances. "Salted meats and pickled vegetables are a favourite of yours Yoritomo-san? Unless you speak of Cook's skills."
