And We're Off [Day 6, Early Afternoon, OPEN]

After her bath, Yakusoku had caught a quick meal and packed. Now, her travel pack hangs awkwardly from one shoulder while the sack in which she'd carefully deposited her armor lays against the other. Smiling a mirthless smile she glances back at the embassy. Part of her wished she'd seen that Kasuga one last time so she couple pop him in the mouth. As far as she was concerned, the half armored, barely armed group of bushi traveling the street before wouldn't have been cause for concern had he not started screaming about them like some raving lunatic. But oh well. Nothing she could do about it now. The Maha-whatever had made his decision and the Captain had accepted it.
Outside the Embassy gates she lingers for a moment. She figured others were fed up too and had made no attempt to hide the offense she felt at all this foolishness or the fact that she intended to spend much of their remaining time at port on the Half Moon. Silently she wondered if any would join her in the trek back to the boat, where they could wear their families' sets of armor in peace, and not be amongst those who were pandering and kowtowing to these animals.

Temper lessened but not dispelled, Qian-Fan had also decided it would be better for all if he were safely back on the Half Moon and not stalking the city looking for likely arson targets. The gaijin could go to face their fate alone for all he cared now, despite their wonderfully interesting animals. He marched to the exit of the Embassy, fully intending on striding back to the ship as quickly as he could.

Seeing the Phoenix approaching and looking at least somewhat annoyed Yakusoku nods to him. If the packs on her shoulders didn't make her intent obvious her words would. "Headin' back too, Scholar? I don' know about you, but I've had enough of this foreign hellhole." She spoke the words softly, not wanting them to carry to anyone else about who may speak a bit of Rokugani. Shifting the bag against her shoulder she sighs softly. Other, less polite descriptions flowed through her mind but for now she opted to keep them to herself.

He stopped abruptly on seeing and hearing the Badger. A brief bow followed.
"Ichiro-san. It's good to find someone else with a dim view of our current surroundings."

"I don' let anyone tell me I can't be wearin' my armor in dangerous places. I don't care if its the Embassy people, this Maha-whatever, or whoever else is pig-headed enough to try to give such an order. My family gave me this armor," she gives the bag a slight shake, "and I'll be damned if some savage is gonna be decidin' what I do wit' it." Once again she kept the discussion to them and after that bit she sighed. "Don' mind me. Just mighty sick of this place, the worthless people we got assigned in it, and the 'local color'. Right now, I'd rather be floatin' over that screamin' water again."

Another one shared the thought of getting out of here before it was too late, and Naomi had likewise packed away her light armor.
Spotting the two crewmembers, Naomi figured that there were safety in numbers, and approached them. "Minna-san... you are heading back to the Moon too?"

"Anything to get away from this cess pit before they visit some other atrocity of manners upon us."
He nodded to the freshly arrived Shiba.
"Shiba-san, here of your own free will or has Isawa-sama sent a babysitter? No offence intended but I am on edge here and have little time for false pretenses."

Naomi blinked, seeming taken aback.
"I... haven't been sent here by anyone? Should I have been?"

The Agasha waved his hand in somewhat of an apology.
"I just thought that Isawa-sama may be worried that I might go burn down a Palace or two in my temper and sent someone to hold the leash."

Yakusoku chuckles dryly. "Has the paranoia spread to him too? Yesterday we had a Kasuga treating four of us with our daisho, and unstrung bow, and two sets of armor between us like the natives were gonna think we looked like a war party. I swear, it was his screamin' and carryin' on about it that snowballed into this damn 'no-armor' thing. 'Aven't heard about anythin' else that'd set it off," she sighs.
Looking back to the Embassy Yakusoku watches the guide make his way out. Had to have one after all. "Yer not supposed to be doin' somethin' else now are ya? Last time I got saddled with the Ambassador's scribe 'cause he didn't bother to say he should be workin' elsewhere." She doesn't wait for him to respond but rather gets ready to start off down the street. If he did have to be replaced, she'd stop then.
"Ya know, for people who should be wantin' our help, these louts have a funny way of showin' it. Unless they think our bushi are gonna be helpin' without armor and the shugenja are goin' be doing it without prayin'. Dumb like sticks, I tell ya. Dumb...like...sticks."

"... Perhaps they don't know how they should be helped..." Naomi commented quietly.
"Is that all that's been going on? I feel like there's alot going on, but we're not hearing anything of it."

"There is more, but I will not speak of it on the open streets."
He set off following Yakusoku, obviously still riled up.
"I'm surprised I'm still allowed to speak openly. Kami forgive us if they ever discover we don't always need scrolls to invoke the kami."

"I'm surprised we weren't set upon by a mob of angry morons with all the restrictin' they're doin'," she mumbles wincing slightly at the sound of her armor bouncing about in the bag. She'd have to do some work on it later. "Agasha-san, I don' know whats been goin' on either but I hope once we're somewhere off the streets someone can do some sharin'. Sick of seein' all this stupid and chalkin' every bit of it up to their inferior ways. Most of it sure... but not all of it."

"I agree... I don't like it here."
Though I feel sorry for some left behind.
"Every moment here feels like the tension is becoming more oppressive."
"Let's start heading towards the ship?" Naomi glanced about them, on guard and nervous.

"If someone does start something then I would advise you stay well clear of me, Ichiro-san."
He didn't bother giving advice to the Shiba, they knew just what to do when an Isawa or Agasha started throwing fire around.
"No proclamation is going to stop me defending myself or my shipmates."

"Hai, you and me both. My ono may be on board the ship but I'm still pretty handy with my daisho. Also nothin' says I can't swing this bag a armor into the head of one of these savages if they start bein' aggressive." Glancing at Naomi, Yakusoku quickens her pace just a bit. She didn't want them walking around here looking frustrated and nervous. No doubt it would only add to their troubles if they lingered.

"I pray nothing will happen on the way..." Naomi said as she followed the other too, but stayed closer to her kin than the Badger. More out of habit to guard a shugenja than anything else.
"You guys know what's been going on since we made port? No one's been saying much at the embassy."

"It's the quiet before the storm, and one to likely make yesterday's look like a mild breeze."
He matched the Badger's pace as best he could.

Yakusoku was by no means running, or even jogging. Just a steady walk a bit quicker than she'd move if she were taking her time. "Does 'ave that feel. People are on edge and I don' know why. Hope the Capain'll be ready to leave before long. Last thing we need is trouble while half of the crew are still sittin' at the embassy."

"I know why they are on the edge..." Naomi glanced around them again.
"... And the captain only think that it makes things 'interesting'..."
