There are three barracks in Lanka, but two of them have been converted into housing for the refugees, leaving the most northern barracks for the soldiers. The Barracks is rather packed at the moment but between patrols and moving some of the troops into the watch towers they have managed to relieve the pressure some. During the night, the sleeping cots still cover the floor from wall to wall though in the morning each warrior is careful to put his gear away to clear the area before heading out for training or to continue preparing for the war that is coming for them. It is a difficult job, but with three meals a day quite a few starving and desperate citizens have joined up.
The barracks are impressive by most standards, large enough to fit a great deal of men as well as their supplies as well as maintaining an aesthetically appealing exterior by Ivory Kingdoms standards, which makes it ostentatious by Rokugani standards. Brightly colored murals, statues, and old steel weapons adorn the walls. It is not a place where a Rokugani would manage to find their center and focus, though the Kshatriya seem to manage rather well. Also in the barracks is a small library which is extremely carefully tended to with great reverence. Often a Kshatriya can be seen reading, though they seem to do so with the same awe and care that most Samurai show when dealing with the kami.
