Collecting weapons (day 2, Late morning, open)

If one were to walk to the foredeck during the morning, they would see some rope tied to the railing. If they were to look where the rope lead, they would see Yasuki Himiko, who was tied to the other end. The young crab was picking up driftwood and sliding it into a makeshift pouch she created out of some of the excess rope. During the ordeal, she was singing a song that was hard to make out, but seemed to have something to do with killing people with planks of wood.

The waves, with their burden, continue to lap at the sides of the ship. There seems to be more than enough for the Crab to satisfy her head-bashing needs.

Himiko is not alone down there for long, soon joined by Choukichi, hanging from another well secured rope a few feet away. He doesn't seem too interested in collecting the driftwood though, and is simply trying to find out what it likely came from, though he does keep and eye out for any pieces that look like they may have been struck by lightning.

Himiko looks over to the Yoritomo, nodding politely. "Yoritomo-san. Good te see I'm not the only one here."

Choukichi nods his head in greeting, then returns his attention to the driftwood.

"Hai, two sets of eyes are more likely to figure out where this came from. Find anything interesting yet?"

"It's a lot of wood," she states matter-of-factly. "Nothin' real interesting. Though if ye'd be so obliged as te grab some of the wood and bring it back on deck, I'd appreciate it." Another plank picked up and examined, then set in her rope sling.

"What do you need it for? It could be from a ship that went down nearby, bad luck making anything out of a ship that Suitengu-kami claimed."

Choukichi makes a warding gesture and keeps looking through the driftwood for signs that it is in fact from a ship, and if so any sort of marks identifying it.

"Ain't gonna build anything with it. But, wood makes for a cheap and effective defense against people tryin' te board. Swing with some good timing as they jump and watch 'em plummet into the ocean." She grinned rather devilishly as she said that.

"Why not just use a spear or polearm? They have more reach than most of this, and will be easier to wield properly, plus the ships weapons won't carry any of the seas hate, Suitengu-kami might not like this being removed from the sea if he claimed it for himself."

Himiko looked at him seriously for a moment. "Do ye know what really sucks about spears and polearms?"

Choukichi looks over and responds simply.

"They are long and much less effective when things get up close, and are harder to wield properly on a rocking ship where suddens swells can throw all the combatants into each other?"

"Certainly, yeah. But let's say I'm swingin' a spear around, and it hits somethin' and breaks. That's a bitch to replace. Wood is easy to replace, and hits hard enough to cause significant damage in the right hands. I can't imagine Suitengu-kami'll be offended at me fer bein' pragmatic."

"Hmmm, well he still might. I see your point though, don't personally care much for spears myself and a black of wood could well be all you need to knock someone over the railing. Still, I don't reccomed bringing much of this aboard till we figure out why it is here, might be Suitengu-kami didn't claim it and it was pirates or the like that destroyed the ship, then there would be no disrespect to Suitengu by bringing it up since he wasn't the one that decided to destroy it."

Himiko nodded. "I suppose I'll settle fer what I've got now."

Choukichi collects a few pieces himself then nods his head.

"Then lets bring it back up top where we can take a good look at it and find out if it's something we should worry about."
